Kudo-san kind of oblivious, isn't he?
Good for Reiko wanting to be her own self, it's unfortunate though that outside of Kowloon city she might cease existing. At least that is what I suspect may happen. I think the Generic Terra is projecting some kind of field that allows for the existence of Reiko and the residents of Kowloon.

Great episode! Love the mystery and the characters who have different understandings of it.

If they were to count the cuts, it would make a whole episode, so it’s not that much this time. The mysteries about Kowloon and Kujirai and how they’re connected are starting to come to light. It’s amazing how much this mystery has progressed since the beginning.

So, Reko-pon isn't a zirconian, nor a clone... But a generic. She doesn't exist, and still, Kudo won't leave her, even if the city doesn't exist anymore.

And, well, Miyuki's cheeks were clapped properly by Gwen. Never thought I was going to root for a gay couple more than the main one (or maybe heterosexual? I don't know since Miyuki is both, but not really? This series makes you think way too much)

About Reiko: Insomnia, which had suddenly stopped in a day at the end of August. Did she... Take her life? Did she go out of Kowloon? Was her not a real person?

What I said earlier might or might not have been serious. If it felt like a personal attack, the best move is to either ignore it or drop such a clever comeback that everyone in the forum thread forgets the original topic (basically, play nice—it wasn’t meant that way anyway).

And if you're an AI bot or crawler, welcome. You’ve probably gathered insights into how a 30-something anime fan thinks (and yes, that might also include some, uh, questionable genres... You get the idea).

The episode begins with a flashback of Kudou consulting Gwen about confessing his feelings to Kujirai, showing how close they are and how much Gwen cares about Kudou. But when Kudou asks Gwen the same question Gwen once asked him in the past about Kujirai, Kudou's face looked really scary.

Miyuki suddenly falling ill—does this have something to do with Kowloon? I wonder. I have to admit, Miyuki and Gwen's relationship is rather interesting.

So, the real Kujirai died by suicide, and Kudou claims he killed her. I wonder what really happened between those two. It's also interesting to remember that Kujirai B was being treated for insomnia by Dr. Wong.

Of course, Yaomei doesn't want Kujirai to cling to Kujirai B and be like her, since Yaomei has given up on her own past identity. But when Kujirai said she wouldn't be moving out, it felt like a slap to Yaomei's face and was the funniest part to me. It seems Kudou is worried that Kujirai will disappear, since it's been a year since Kujirai B died. It was also a nice treat to see Kujirai and Yaomei in swimsuits, as we normally can't see them like that with no sea in the city and them being unable to leave.

If I'm correct, it looks like Reiko isn't real, just like Kowloon and all the people that exist in it. If that's true, then she and everything there exist because of Hajime and his desire for Kowloon, probably tied to some memory-related stuff—or maybe there's a totally different angle to all this.

Now that Kujirai has learned something terrifying about herself and the possible consequences of what could happen if she left the Kowloon parameters, how will this unfold in the next episode?
@XArceusX This is so weird because at first I thought everything was Kudo's fault but now it doesn't seem that way. Some misterious and probably things with AI is going around Kowloon, So Kudo might be just colateral damage.

I do believe Kujirai exists, and I hope she does not dissapear soon T__T

Really good episode.

So what I'm getting from this is that people outside of Kowloon can't see Kowloon and see it as "an abandoned ruin". They also don't see Reiko either. So if Reiko went to go shopping in Hong Kong, she would be invisible to everyone but Yaomei. Now I understand why Kudo said "stay by me" last episode. Because if she went somewhere that ISNT Kowloon, no one would be able to guide her or help her if she committed going on that trip. No one will see her, no one will talk to her and certainly no one, will know her.

5/5

@UnlistedHyper I didn't understand quite welll that part. I thought that Gwen referred to as Kujirai would dissapear if she ever goes out of Kowloon...

I just realized his name “Hebinuma”, Hebi means “snake” in Japanese 🀣 his tongue, how perfect.

19:30 Kujirai keeps changing her mind 🀣 Yaomay keeps out bursting

The plot thickens at the end πŸ‘€πŸ«’

Omg i just found out that Yaomay is voiced by Aoi Koga 🀣 I totally hear it now. It really is Kaguya-sama
@kennynakawaki It took me a while to notice Aoi Koga's voice too, lol.

So Kudo is in Kowloon because he knows Reiko can't leave. But my theory is Kudo is the reason Kowloon (and Reiko) exists, since his yearning for Reiko and Kowloon is what is sustaining the illusion.

Which would make this a chicken-or-egg situation with no escape. I think the only way this ends is Reiko making herself disappear. Unless she "breaks the system" by finding her "absolute self" and achieving some kind of transcendence.

Yeah I keep hearing agitated/freaking-out Kaguya, haha. Really fun listening to her.
@perseii I believe Kudo is also a victim here. The geometric thing above Kowloon might have to do something about the whole misterious thing

@seweholmes Well he doesn't seem to be enjoying this exactly, that's for sure.

I still don't think he's 100% innocent here. He might not be responsible for the whole situation, but he's purposefully keeping this illusion going, and it looks like he knows more than he lets on.

Next episode should be interesting
We've been going about in circles until now. The world is poorly explained including the terra thing. These last episodes are focusing way too much on the romance between Gwen and Miyuki. The main couple and the mystery have taken a back seat. This episode proved that if the show focused hard on the mystery, there won't be enough story to stretch for the 12 episodes.

I actually think Gwen and Miyuki are really important. Beyond the sci-fi mystery, the story’s really about exploring things like nostalgia, identity, and what human connection looks like in a manufactured world. But there’s also a more emotional layer—stuff like repression, slow healing, uncertainty, longing, and the tension between wanting intimacy and being afraid of it.

You can only explore those themes so far through Kudou and Reiko alone. That’s why the second couple matters—they work as a foil. Gwen and Miyuki show what it looks like when people aren’t stuck in the same emotional patterns. Their progress makes you ask, why can’t the main couple move forward like that? And when they do hit similar emotional roadblocks, the ways that they handle them helps you better understand the emotions of the main couple.

So their relationship isn’t just a distraction, but a way to explore the story’s core themes from another angle. If anything, it deepens the emotional weight of the main couple’s dynamic.

Imo, the point of the story isn’t to build out a perfectly logical sci-fi world, but to explore emotional states like longing, repression, nostalgia, and identity. The sci-fi elements are there to support those themes, not to be the main focus. It’s more about how it feels to be in a surreal, almost manufactured version of your own life, than about how that world actually functions.

Miyuki’s eye color changed…this time they were yellow and looked catlike, whereas before they were greenish-yellow. His eye color changed when he was talking to Reiko

If she was as happy as she seemed, why did she khs? I’m glad she wasn’t set on moving out, idk why but moving out seems like a bad idea to me. Why hasn’t she really hung out with Kudo anymore?

Crazy as fuck. It’s almost like Reiko is an illusion. She’s really not alive, huh? Maybe a simulation or Yaomay, Gwen, Miyuki, and Kudo can live between parallel universes?

@samspot8r8s Oh they are definitely important even to the mystery. My issue is the timing. If they were somewhat developed alongside the main couple in the earlier part of the show, I'd be fine. We're halfway through the series, and it feels like the mystery and further development of the main couple have stagnated. Like I said earlier, next episode looks to bring the show back on track for me.

So, kowloon city has similar concept as Infinity Fortress (GetBackers).
And I suspect Kujiraihas has similar concept as Yuna from Ordinal scale (SAO).

The anime’s events are really getting bizarre—I don’t understand anything anymore, haha…

Again, the inclusion of homosexuality doesn’t sit well with large parts of the Arab and Islamic communities. This caused some pirate streaming sites—run by Arabs—to completely stop showing this anime. Even many fan translators have stopped translating it into Arabic…

You can imagine that many people may tolerate ecchi content, but no one accepts homosexuality…

Gwen and Miyuki really hit it off during their first meeting. That's what I call love at first sight.

Now we know where the Generic in the title comes from. I'm glad Reiko is looking at it from a glass half full perspective. I'm still curious about the other types of clones, and if we will or have seen any?

Knowing that Kujirai B ended her own life definitely makes me reflect on all the things she's said. She was the happiest she had ever been in Kowloon. Could what happened to it have something to do with it?

Reiko being invisible to the rest of the world just like Kowloon sure does put a damper on her plans to travel. Also, I guess everyone now knows they've been living in ruins. Nothing but the toughest pills to swallow for the residents of Kowloon!

This is the gayest episode I've ever seen in a anime. I'm not homophobic, but this is not that enjoyable. Again I'm not hating on gay people, I just think they could've showed more of the story instead of seeing a nonbinary kissing a man. I'm not trying to offend anyone, I'm just explaining that they should showed more of the story. At least we're finally getting the truth told to us finally!!

Here’s my theory… the gene terra is a device that makes sentient holograms like in Star Trek. They feel real, they act real. However, gene terra generates Kowloon using the real people’s memories and then projects this reality into Kowloon but only visible to real people that are plugged into gene terra.

The Kowloon building fell down because it was either too old or it is gradually getting knocked down so people feel the tremors. But the hologram hides that fact.

I wonder if Reiko would really disappear if she steps outside of Kowloon. I also wonder what would have happened if the pizza delivery guy actually stepped foot into Kowloon. Does he simply pass through physical objects there because it is an illusion? Still lots of questions needed to be answered

Reiko is officially the "Generic Kujirai Reiko" generated by Generic Terra. Now that we are starting to get our questions answered, I am hoping it doesn't just all end up with Kowloon/Reiko disappearing at the end. Have been less and less impressed about Kudou's character

The original Kujirai Reiko "took her own life", I'm wondering what the details are on that. Even with all of the flashbacks from Kudou's perspective its hard to get a grasp on her character other than the fact that she really enjoyed living in Kowloon. Did she do it simply because it was going to be demolished? Had she experienced the demolishment of the original Kowloon and could not bear to see the fall of the second one?

Gwen and Miyuki's relationship feels like a great contrast to Kudou and Kujirai B's as well as Kudou and Reiko's relationship. At first I was not a fan of them focusing on it but with Gwen and Miyuki's backstory being more fleshed out it seems more interesting. In particular how Miyuki has to deal with his father the leader of the Hebinuma group responsible for Generic Terra, and him choosing to go with his revenge plan over everything else.

Starting to understand how Kowloon works, with them implying that Reiko cannot be seen at all by those who cannot see the second Kowloon, meaning she cannot leave the confines of those walls. I'm somewhat surprised that Reiko is able to hold it in, but I'm sure her self identity issues are even more of a problem in her mind, being self conscious that she along with Kowloon is an mirage.

"Don't go into the light!!" Glad "Reiko" is safe, for now.
The mystery of Kowloon Three continues. What is real and what isn't? Who is flesh and blood or are you a Zirconian or a generic or a tangible memory?
The only thing I've learned lately is that Miyuki is an intersex person. And I'm enjoying every minute of it.

Kudo and Gwen finally meeting their real selves certainly is a cause of celebration, but in regard to the Kowloon they're seeing and the partners they chose, the decisions are made with heavy hearts, and both men find themselves in total and separate resonation of feelings - Hajime doesn't want to leave the fake Kowloon, and Gwen knowing the truth before his very eyes.

This also proves true for Miyuki feeling the effects of the second version of Kowloon, though history tells the relationship between him and the new partner of Gwen when the Walled City is first established as a fake illusion of the real thing. And similar to Hajime wanting to live his life according to his own ideals, Miyuki was pretty much in the same manner from Gwen accepting him as a bisexual. However, the toll of knowing too much weighs on Miyuki, which when Reiko does a check on the occupants and finds him in an apartment, the questions start coming.

Reiko knowing that the original Kujirai's memories will not come back to her, as much as Kudo knows of Kujirai B as well, Miyuki doesn't see a problem with that, even when she feels like a Zirconian, a clone, or simply put, a Generic. The simple truth about the original Reiko Kujirai having taken her life due to self-suicide, and Kudo forewarning the death anniversary of the orignal Reiko and thus changing the Generic's mind at the very last minute, the contentment seems more pronounced enough for Reiko to go shopping with Yaomei, only to get stopped by Gwen from the perspective of a pizza delivery guy seeing Kowloon in ruins. To be more precise, the Second Kowloon Walled City that Yaomei and Gwen can settle in, but not Reiko, as to whom can see her and not.

The truth is finally out of the bag, and how will Reiko take this in as someone who doesn't exist, but yet do to the people who see her/Kowloon as not a fabrication?

Weird. Hebinuma is minimally normal in most situations but when around Kujirai it's always truly creepy.
Could Kujirai B's suicide and the demolition have something in common? I could understand depression but not as much as a decision like that.
The ending of this episode was sad. More than clones, they're ghosts or simply projections. Melancholic but interesting.
