| Shisui letting workers escape: ✅ Shisui letting children escape: ❌ Also Shisui later realizing she could have just asked Xiaomao to intercede for the children since Xiaomao's on very good terms with both Jinshi and The Emperor:  And seriously, what an one-dimensional villain this Shenmei hag is. Not gonna lie, pretty disappointing coming from a show that constantly tries to humanize all its antagonists. Not to mention I still fail to understand why everyone are so willing to serve her when she's clearly a lost cause but well. Gotta guess it's because of Shishou being behind her and shit. |

| Maomao being in a position to create the next-to-impossible immortality potion, that even Loulan giggles with reassurance. But Kyou-u being ambitious to want to create an escape plan for Maomao, having Suirei deal with the issue is amicable enough, but that changes when Shenmei makes her appearance and chooses suffering everyone around her, and Maomao took one for the sake of others, that's for sure. But the Taibon, something which Suirei fears a lot, is not so much a punishment for the apothecary so used to insects and poison, but rather a benefit that surprises their close confidante of the guard all the more. More than Maomao's escape plan, Loulan having to coerce the workers to literally make an escape for their lives, and shit just got real for the apothecary in a split second. Even to Loulan, she was also being mistreated like like a doll for her mother, and this became quite the family drama alongside the clearance of the grave of Taihou and others who were also once being chased out of the stronghold. A mixed-blood family as Loulan/Shisui implies with both Western and Eastern blood, but one still able to fool the people she loves in order to "save" them from facing calamity, like giving the kids poison (mixed with sweet juice) to drink. What exactly is Loulan/Shisui's purpose in being her mother's "puppet", because this is clearly within her mother's realm of exploit unimaginable... |

| Damn I didn't expect that ending. I understand why Shisui did it, after all the entire clan was going to get punished regarless of who did it or not. So in a way she did it humanily without them suffering, but still it ain't right. There had to be another way to save them, like maomao explaining to the rest that the kids were kidnapped or something along those lines to be able to save them. :-( It breaks my heart seeing maomao so conflicted. |

| After careful analysis and reviewing of the lineage with the emperor and his children, I still am absolutely baffled at everything going on. Loulan being Shishui, her KILLING THE CHILDREN because "they were gonna die anyway". Blasting the gunpowder room. How does that woman maintain composure??? The fact that even that horror episode tied back to her struggles in her family. These past 3 episodes have been an absolute thrill ride, tying all the information together so quickly that my head's going in circles. I don't even know what to say anymore. |

| This arc makes no sense. Crazy old woman who is somehow left alive despite no one liking her. Suirei has no issues trying to kill Jinshi or any of the other murders she was involved with in S1 leading up to that plot, but never tried to get rid of this old lady who treats her so badly and even threw out her mother. Yet everyone...Loulan, even Shishou who has considerable standing even in the palace just blindly marched on and does whatever she says, even if it meant their entire village would die for rebelling against the emperor. If Loulan wanted to thwart whatever her mother was doing, she could've easily just told the Emperor or Jinshi regarding their plan, instead she goes back and drags Maomao along for some god knows reason only to sabotage the rebellion when it was already too late and the Emperor's troops are already marching....She poisons the kids, but I assume that is the fake death medicine Suirei has been experimenting with to save the innocent villagers who would otherwise all die due to the rebellion. Otherwise it makes no sense at all... That Suirei was able to sneak back in to the rear palace was crazy to begin with. Who the hell tests for eunuch by physically grabbing each person there by three different officials? It would've been much faster, more efficient, and sanitary to have them drop the pants...She wasn't even in much of a disguise and yet Jinshi got close to her without recognizing her despite recognizing a mole on 1 out of 50 court lady in Loulan's pavilion. The logic is really weak this season.... |
| Needed a family-tree diagram opened in another tab constantly while watching Dark. Apothecary Diaries is nowhere near as complicated of course, but dang I still need that family tree. Gotta admit that I'm still confused as how exactly Suirei is related to anybody, other than that she's Loulan's half-sister. I got that right at least... right?? |

| Maomao pissed Shenmei, and Loulan suggested using Taibon as punishment. Loulan knew Maomao wouldn't have a problem with snakes, but didn't expect her to cook and eat them. Loulan has the gunpowder workers leave and sets the gunpowder on fire. Loulan and Maomao go to a room with near dead or dead children, because as rebellions, they wouldn't be spared. |

I saw this elsewhere: Lakan loves and recognizes his daughter despite being unable to see faces, while Shenmei can see faces just fine but can't recognize her own daughter outside of the role she wants her in. 5/5 |

| It just goes to show that as we watch Maomao's limited POV, the story as it goes has fooled us for far too long. Which is why those perfumes that the "Consort Loulan" wears, the ghost story episode (that turns out wasn't a filler), and the Lantern Festival, all goes to Loulan's cry of her life under the tyranny of Shenmei. And poor Suirei, the mention of Taibon spells horror hour to her. But the ending man, it was a brutal landing for me. Kinda like what Star Wars did, but as we are ready to call her Shisui again, we get that scene. Tough. |
