| now that he's no longer crowned prince, what's gonna happen to jinshi? will he still keep his undercover work or will he start doing some royal duties? and how will his relationship with maomao go? |

| I'm disappointed. It's very anticlimactic when she learn Jinshi is the crown prince and also why no hug scene when they finally meet again? Haha also, poor kids. I thought it's like a temporary death too. She really make them drink the poison:( that's really sad but it feels like normal in this episode. |
| Hot damn, they barely resisted at all. Why would they place all their gunpowder stock in the open like that, literally inviting the enemy to blow it up? And why didn't the entire castle explode after Loulan recklessly set the gunpowder lab on fire? Maomao was still inside and yet she wasn't even scratched. Gunpowder behaving according to the needs of the plot (tame when Maomao is close, blowing up like Semtex when the plot needs it to blow) erodes the suspension of disbelief... |

| I can't quite explain why, but I really liked the scene where Maomao wished Shisui good luck. Maomao tried to stop Shisui but it didn't work. She also tried to tell Shisui to give everything up and run away, and it didn't work. Maomao couldn't join Shisui because Maomao would be endangering herself, and Shisui wouldn't let her anyways. If Maomao tried to do anything further to impede or complicate Shisui plans, it would destroy whatever was left of their relationship. At the end, Maomao just wished Shisui good luck. She neither condoned nor criticized, but just wished, at a personal level, that Shisui managed to get out of this battle alive. Whatever that means can be up to interpretation, wish was probably the best way to send Shisui off. The battle itself feels somewhat anti-climatic, as the stronghold self-destructed before Jinshi even arrived. Despite preparing for a rebellion, Shisui's mother seemed unconcerned with the army outside their door up until the very end. I can't imagine what her idea of victory was supposed to be like. I'm not even sure how they managed to get this far. |
| This anime really became great with this second season. Maomao trying to reach out to Shisui is for naught, but Loulan knows that she has to do her own part in order to protect her pride as an individual fox. And to think that Shisui was just a puppet to Shenmei all along is despicable, 20 years a shameful man is such a death sentence. Hopefully, Suirei and atleast Shisui comes out of this alive. Also, after spending almost the whole season teasing it, Maomao finally knows that Jinshi is the Emperor's brother in one of the more anticlimactic ways to express it. Hey, atleast they finally see each other again AHHH. |
