Another 1 episode case? Well, that was unexpected, I thought we were getting these last 2 episodes about 1 case only.
About the case itself, I must say that it wasn't that amazing. It was your typical "woman stabs another woman for marrying the man she loved and played with her", when Yuri had 0 to do with that, and was, in fact, just going to be another victim. Kotoe should have helped her, instead of stabbing her. But oh well, the human mind.
But yeah, this setting is really similar to the one in episode 1/2. Nothing revolutionary.
The greatest thing of this episode was the comedic side, because I found this episode to be one of funnier ones. The way Kageyama "spilled the beans" about Reiko was really funny. That and Reiko telling Miyuki to not call her an auntie.
The funny thing, is that when they showed Kotoe for the 1st time, I was really like "I don't know what's going to happen, but she's the culprit", and I was absolutely right. Didn't even need the crime to happen to know who the culprit was.
However, I feel like this case was really rushed and badly explained. Why did Yuri's brother ask for Kotoe when he entered the room (since he knew she was there), and then didn't mention he saw her in the room with his sister? Like, what? Or was he asking because he saw Kotoe leaving the room? Anyways, WHY DIDN'T HE SAY THAT? Also, they really didn't want us to think for this case, since the resolution of the case was like 3 minutes, and all the evidences were things we couldn't even notice (the name thing for me personally would be super hard, because I barely remember the character names by the end of the episode). The fact that they do this takes joy of a series like this, where the most fun comes from trying to discover who the culprit is, or what really happened.
But I feel like this case only had 2 purposes: one of them was highlighting the relationship between a buttler and his "master", and introduce the next case, that is still about the same family.
So overall, I'm disappointed with the direction this anime is going for the finale. I thought we would get a more robust case for the end, but it seems we are just getting rushed cases left and right. This episode was even worse than the last one in regards to the outcomes of the crime, something this anime usually did well.
I already had a score thought out for this anime, but after these last 2 episodes, I'm starting to doubt if I shouldn't lower it a bi. And I don't think this last episode is going to amazing either, seeing how much content they are cutting and rushing.
Seeing the feedback of people who watched the live action really helps to understand how much potential this anime could have, if they just didn't focus on presenting so many cases, and just decided on just a few, but develop them really well, and have time for some character development. Really not the best direction decision. I think they are making this love with a lot of willingness, seeing how many details it has, even with a lower budget, but I think this decision certainly lowered the level of the anime, especially of what it could be.
Anyways, I'm sad it's already ending for next week, but at the same time, seeing how the anime seems to be on a downward spiral, maybe it's for the better.
Either way, I always have a good time with it!
Edit: Forgot to mention, but it was also cool we got an episode more focused on Reiko and Kageyama, with Detective Kazamatsuri out playing golf. But detective Doi being a copy of him, and finding him has his inspiration was, in fact, really funny to. As I said, one of the main reasons I ended up enjoying this episode was due to the comedy, that was certainly the strongest trait of this episode. |
