Just reread the manga since the 5 latest chapters were translated a few weeks ago, and while I'm glad I got 200ish new pages, it sucks that we'll probably never see any more.

Never say never. It actually had a seven year hiatus already between 2008 and 2015 if I recall correctly, and while it's been on hiatus again for eight years now since 2017 (sucks that it took THIS LONG for the last four or five chapters to get fanslated, probably because of how obscure this series is amongst most English-speaking manga fandom, which is a DAMN shame considering it's a goddamn masterpiece), there's always a chance it'll come back off it again.

As it stands, since 2022 Hiramoto is currently illustrating one series, and writing AND illustrating another, so hopefully he'll get back to MATDB once those are done. Might be a while, but it's not a 100% dead in the water possibility.

Now if only Biobooster Armor Guyver (since 2016), Vagabond (since 2015), and Ultra Heaven (since 2009!!!) could all come back from their very, very long hiatuses as well, that'd be EXTRA awesome lol

@Vegetto95 I'd love to see Vagabond come back but after 10+ years it's seeming less likely than ever

I'm guessing Inōe's probably trying to focus on Real (even though that's also been published rather irregularly over the past few years), but I'm still holding out hope for Vagabond too.

At the very least, Viz has been pretty consistently keeping up with good quality physical releases for both series, which they 1000% deserve. Sadly, the first two volumes of Me and the Devil Blues were officially physically released in America by Del Rey back in 2008... and that was it. *sigh*

I thought Ultra Heaven ended. Didn’t know it was actually hiatus.

@thischeetobussin Yuuup. It's still officially on hiatus after just shy of 16 entire years. Sooo, while there technically is hope... it's slim T-T

And hell, it only published 25 chapters during its original run, despite said run lasting eight years!! (June 2001-October 2009)
