I've watched ep 6 but I still don't understand his original sin (or at least the sin she believed he has committed). Also, is it just me or does the resolve (Marina and Shizuka starts getting along) feels too fast-paced (6 minutes before the anime end, starts getting along within a minute)? They get along just from accidentally seeing a drawing of Takopi, yet they don't have any idea of what drawing it is. Tho I still love this anime and I'm glad they still managed get along at the end. It just was not based on my expectation, especially when Azuma is not in the party in the end. |

What i get from this is just a way to give the show a farewell happy ending. i mean there is no proper solution to their situation, it just so bleak. You can only pull happy ending with literal magic. The logic if i may guess it's like passing the vague memory / feeling for the existence of takopi from other timeline, why they get along is probably because the shared memory of takopi, so at least they have something in common. or idk just magic. I don't think the ending is the point of the series, it just a way to end it. |
| Lemme copypaste my post from different threads: My theory: In Christian theology "Original Sin" is described as sinful nature and separation from God inherited by all humans after Adam and Eve defied God. Just like the Biblical Adam and Eve commited the Original Sin by defying God and after eating the Forbidden Fruit, they started to understand the good and evil. Takopi by defying his own Mother (God) and spending some time among humans, who have complex morality, have also started to comprehend good and evil after which he was even exiled from his planet, just like Adam and Eve were from Eden. Happy planet was described as a paradise, where is only happiness and blissful ignorance, which comes as granted, just like Eden. To put it simply, during his stay on Earth, Takopi developed mortality, started comprehending good and evil and thus lost his innocence, which means he has no place on Happy Planet. That was his Original Sin. |
