Mountain climbing is very niche, so many people might not have watched it. Kokou no Hitto also thrives on its artwork, so I think an adaptation would have been extremely complex and costly, and probably not worth it financially. There are many great seinen manga that don't get adapted, simply because the main audience consists of younger people who are more interested in action-packed shonen than deep storys...

I don’t think this could be well translated into an anime

I think it's too niche and it's better to stay only in manga, the same thing would occur if vagabond was animated I don't think it would picture the manga very well...

Because it just started to get popular like a year ago. And it’s been 13-14 years since the manga is finished.

Most likely because an anime could never capture the art. Also the manga has many scenes I think would be hard to adapt into an anime.

maybe it's better if this never gets an anime. they might do a poor job with CGI. besides, I feel like this story works better in manga form anyway.

Honestly, I think Kokou no Hito never got an anime because the tone is too heavy and psychological. It’s hard to capture that raw, lonely atmosphere in animation without losing the impact.

Im kind of late to the discussion, but i agree with

i think that this is a manga at heart, the author made the most of this medium in a way that is almost impossible to create an anime adaptation

i dont think its entirely impossible but extremely risky
