Does anyone know/have a (youtube link, probably) to the ending credit song? It's seriously beautiful, and that lone solo voice reminds me of Satomi.

FYI the choir track is indeed included on the official OST which came out today!

@Black_Note Chapter 11, page 9
@PinkRandoseru Thanks! So I reread the chapter, and I think Ep 5 actually followed the manga’s canon timeline pretty well tho? Chap 11 takes place in November 2023, and not 2022 if you weren’t sure. In Chap 10, Satomi is confirmed to be 18 (born April 2005), and his lock screen shows Tues, November 14 which only matches 2023.

That means Kyouji’s been out of prison or visiting Tokyo sometime between November 2021 and early 2022 ("for about" can also mean roughly or almost). In Ep 5, it’s kinda implied he got out around December 2021-January 2022 (before the February karaoke contest), since the November karaoke got rescheduled, I lean toward January 2022, since that lines up better with him serving roughly 3 years if he was arrested in August 2019. So his “for about 2 years” statement in Chap 11 still works in the anime I believe.

@Black_Note Hmm, wait.. I double-checked, Keina Suda’s Darling was actually released in January 2023, not in 2022 as I had always thought.. So either it was an oversight by the anime staff, who just wanted to include another post-2019 hit from Keina Suda as a kind of homage (since his most popular song Charles appeared in the Ep 2 karaoke, and he also sang the OP for Captivated by You)

Or, more likely, Ep 5 is actually set in January 2023.
Still, calling Ado’s Ussewa “recently popular” in 2023 feels kinda off… tho considering the yakuza group consists mostly of older men, it’s not entirely unrealistic.

From a storytelling perspective, in the format of a one-episode special, Kyouji coincidently reuniting with Satomi just shortly after his release feels much more impactful tbh. It’s like cliché in a good way, almost like “this is fate”, and I don’t think it would have made that much of an impression if Kyouji was actually waiting for him to start college after a year imo.

Anyway, I’m going to trust the anime staff with this “retcon” decision, since, as anacrusis mentioned, they ran everything past Wayama-sensei.
Have a nice day!

Oh it was cool to see the final episode from Kyouji's side, now it makes sense why the previous episode felt like the last one, that was emotional so he was in jail for three years during this time and that's also how he got the Satomi tattoo after joining the clan again and losing the karaoke contest. Really good and cute anime overall, the relationship between the two characters is unusual but well written, too bad it's only 5 episodes long though.
