Another fun episode, filled with childish banters. The part with Damian waiting for his parents surprisingly tickled my heartstrings though-- I got a bit teary eyed. Fortunately, it was followed by Yor casually saying that she ran passed through his mom's car while running, as that car shows up in full speed xD

Either that, or she just ended up broken like that because of Desmond's behavior as a father/husband. If that's what the 4th season will focus on- the Desmond family situation- I'd be really interested in that.

Heh Anya's schemes right out the door, I love that she still acts like a kid and not a little genius. Damn Damien pretty normal kid despite his messed up parents, what's going on in his mom's head?

This episode is messed up on Crunchyroll as after six minutes the video repeats the same segment over and over again. It's a good thing Hulu is also streaming this as a backup option.

Episode 47

Austin has been having nightmares and is asking Loid to see what the problem is Loid sees that it all traces back to the busjacking incident. But Austin isn't exactly faultless, either, as it all comes from fear and in the end Loid solved the problem and helped him make up with his wife. Then Yor goes out with her colleagues at work, and she has a little too much to drink. In her drunken state, she picks up a butter knife preparing herself to kill over an omelet, but of course that only happens in her mind and is stopped before leaving the restaurant. It's a lot of mental stuff going on here between Austin's nightmares and Yor thinking about all sorts of crazy things while drunk.

Episode 47

Thomas Austin, the teacher who got hurt in the bus hijacking, begins to have nightmares, so he sees Loid to figure out how to cope. Over the course of his sessions, Loid finds out that the bus hijacking's events brought deeper domestic fears to the surface, and he helps Thomas get along better with his wife. Then Yor goes out with her coworkers, and they ask whether she has any gripes with Loid, which causes Yor's imagination to go into overdrive. Finally, news of a rocket launch has Anya excited at school, and Ewen has the same feelings about space. Damian is struck with awe as Ewen and Anya play around before class.

I can't help but feel that any halfway decent writer would have had Loid's therapy with Austin illuminate for Loid how truly special Yor is. That's basic B-plot formula. And if that had been done:

In part 2, when Yor got home, she should have tried to kiss him, and because of Part 1, Loid would have been receptive. Man, that would have really helped this show, IMO. The author seems weirdly terrified of intimacy. I wonder if Austin was an unconscious self-insert?

Poor guy, more terrorized at home. Yor's fake marriage better than all the real relationships. She thinks like a terminator when drunk. Anya knows their "flirting" isn't normal, just like they aren't.

A Loid and Yor casual episode before another storm occurs. It was more of a Yor fanservice episode though-- haven't seen her in her assassin attire in quite a while. The short after-credit part added more to the story than the 2 chapters of the episode, combined.

Definitely. We could've gotten at least a little substance from the therapy chapter than just a straight forward joke that took way too long. Even Fiona's involvement was quite forced.

Episode 48

Yor and Yuri go out with Loid keeping close tabs on the siblings. And then Loid heads out to the hospital and is given a secret mission from WISE as there's a mole that needs to be smoked out, who is revealed to be Winston Wheeler. So Loid is tasked with taking down Wheeler as he has stolen info about the operation in Ostania to give to the SSS. He is followed to the Shellbury Hotel where the exchange of intel is happening, but is immediately smoked out as the SSS guys were well-prepared seeing that only they know that the real Wheeler is a green tie with a gemstone on it. Let's see what WISE's next move is knowing that there's a lot at stake if the files get leaked out. In the meantime, Anya and Becky are having a great time at the zoo.

Episode 48

While Anya goes with Becky to the zoo, Yor tries to get the point of having gripes across to Loid, and Yuri shows up to really confuse things. But before Loid can set things straight, he's called to the hospital for a serious emergency. Yuri gets suspicious, so he decides to drag Yor along and tail Loid, but on the way Yuri notices one of his State Security colleagues, and he leaves Yor on her own.

It turns out the emergency Loid is summoned for is chasing down a mole named Winston Wheeler and retrieving some files he stole from WISE, and Yuri is part of the team tasked with completing the exchange from Winston. Loid disguises himself as Winston to tell Yuri that the meeting place for the exchange has been changed. However, he is unaware that State Security is doing their own work ferreting out a mole in their ranks, and Loid inadvertently helps expose that mole.

Ahhh, and Yor's spotlight is already over. Poor Loid "I didn't do anything and she's still mad" yep sounds like a real marriage. LOL Well nice setup for the finale, I'm enjoying the more serious stuff this season.

Episode 49

And the intense mission continues as Loid is out to make sure Wheeler doesn't leak WISE's secrets to the SSS. Loid disguises himself as Yuri, and ends up in the sewers, while the real Yuri follows him there. The two fight, and Loid knocks Yuri out, then walks away to continue pursuing Wheeler. To flush him out, WISE has a car intentionally crash knowing that Wheeler wouldn't react to it like others would, and they move in to apprehend Wheeler. But even with his hands tied, Wheeler can still fight back and he escapes into the sewers. Loid runs into Wheeler while disguised as Yuri, and unlike with Yuri, Wheeler saw right through his disguise, all while Yuri wonders why Loid was left alive. Wheeler threatens to kill Loid if Fiona doesn't throw down her weapon, but she does and Fiona moves in to punch Wheeler using her overwhelming strength to take him down. Quite an intence confrontation that was there. One more episode left to go in this season.

Episode 49

Loid's disguise is exposed, and he's forced to retreat under fire. He disguises himself as Yuri to throw his pursuers off while he heads into the sewers, but the real Yuri soon picks up his trail and follows him down there. The two soon meet each other, and Yuri manages to shoot Loid in the arm. Loid is stunned by Yuri's resilience against his attacks, but he eventually knocks him unconscious. Meanwhile, one of the other agents disguises himself as Winston's contact to lure him out, and Fiona notices him in the crowd when they stage a car crash. Fiona and the agents manage to corner Winston and retrieve the files he stole, but Winston breaks free and escapes into the sewers as well.

As Fiona pursues Winston, he encounters Loid still disguised as Yuri. Winston soon exposes Loid's disguise, and when Fiona catches up, Loid is pinned to the ground. Fiona lunges at Winston in a rage. Winston thinks he can easily block Fiona's punch, but it turns out to be so strong that it breaks the bones in both Winston's and Fiona's arms.

Finally! A legit threat to Operation Strix comes into play. Yuri now has a lot of reason to be suspicious of Loid: Attacker didn't kill him? Loid has an injury on the same side of arm where he shot his attacker? Anya has been off-screen for 3 episodes? Sus.
I wonder if Yuri's team would think of collecting blood samples that the attacker dropped on the floor, or stuck on anything.

Man... Fiona is scary. If she can go full mad psycho seeing Loid getting wrecked by someone, hitting punches so strong it recoils so hard that it breaks her arm in parts, then we're lucky she being rational towards Yor and Anya.
The preview pretty much focused on the after-crisis, so I guess she'll manage to deal with Wheeler real quick. Franky might show up as back up too.

Fiona is so great, too bad she will always just be the second fiddle to Yor. Great stuff, looking forward to the finale.

Episode 50 (Season 3 Finale)

After Fiona takes Wheeler down, Loid returns home all beat up after asking Fiona to back off and keep Wheeler detained in hopes of getting info out of him. Then Yuri drops by and suspects Loid being Twilight, but doesn't see any injuries on him as Loid covered it up just in case. As for Fiona, while she broke a number of bones, they are all clean breaks and will be fine after some rest. And then life goes on at the household, though for Loid he will have to increase his awareness more than ever. To end this season, it's Anya dreaming that Bond becomes a giraffe.

So with that, season 3 comes to an end and let's see what season 4 brings to the table.

Final Thoughts

After a great, but slow-moving second season, this one does a much better job in balancing things as while it continues to do a great job doing what the show does best, which is all the lighthearted skits while keeping espionage in mind, this season does a great job in bringing the characters into focus and tell some meaningful stuff that's relevant to the grand scheme of things. So in all, this show continues to be great as the animators go all-out once again with this show.

Grade: A+ (10/10)

Episode 50

Fiona puts her body on the line to knock out Winston, and Loid wakes up just in time to stop her from killing him. After Winston is tied up, the spies extricate themselves out of the area, but there's still the matter of finding out what Yor is thinking. When Yor tells Loid about her coworkers' talk about gripes, he falls to the floor stunned at the thought, but he recovers quickly. Then Yuri pays a brief visit and checks Loid's arm when he gets suspicious, but Loid covered up his gunshot wound just in case. Handler visits Fiona in the hospital while she recovers from her injuries.

The next day, Loid rests up from his mission while Anya talks to Yor about her trip to the zoo. Bond gets jealous of the lion plushie Anya brings out, and he tries imitating various animals. Then Franky shows up with some stuff for Loid, and when Anya suggests giving Franky a makeover, they make a lot of noise.

It was nice to see the show get back into the spy action again. It continues to be very enjoyable, but it still doesn't make my top tier. 8/10.

Wah wah, ends with a quiet slice of life with Loid and Yor working things out and Anya having fun with Bond (crazy dream). Fiona getting some nice carry (wink) over moments. Great season, things being quite a bit more serious. It will be interesting to see where they take this show as the politcal stakes ramp up.

That took the show (from vol 10) to the start of vol 13 of the manga with chapters from vol 17 now being released, so should be enough for another cour or season or whatever they want to call it.

I really thought they weren't gonna have Anya for the final episode of the season when Yor said she was asleep... again. xD
I was already thinking they probably spent all the Frieren-sama budget during the "Red Circus Arc".

9/10. This is the most "Spy Family" the show has felt for me, both in comedy and story. Anya finally got to use her powers in a very "heroic" way and even helps the "Operation Strix", Loid's disguise skill is finally used in much more reasonable way (not too BS), and the show finally does a good job reminding us that Yor has a faction she's involved with as well. Story-wise, there's now a legit threat to Operation Strix- aside from Anya's slip ups in school- as Yuri starts getting 'too close to home', and there's now progress with the Desmond family angle. This also had a very good balance of fun and drama.
