| I think we have not appreciated enough how utterly ridiculous the preposterous "uniforms" of our horse-girl runners are. While they're visually fancy and elaborate, most are completely unsuitable for running; and the outfits of the foreign girls in this episode made that more obvious. A thick, long, fluffy dress would be a major running handicap compared to a simple shorts or short skirt. The air drag of the dress alone would slow down the runner significantly, particularly at the faster than human speeds they reach. It would also be more difficult to run in a long dress, with a constant risk of the fabric tripping the runner, while the extra mass and volume would impede running further. Now add to the long dresses some big-ass pirate like hats further increasing drag, and the silly non runner issue outfits many are wearing, and you get a perfect storm of running obstacles. Most of their outfits are suitable for modelling walks, not for running. |
