Plot Summary

When Arisu Yamabuki was all alone in bed at night, he was able to find solace in the voice of a radio host who went by "Apollo." However, one day, she simply stopped broadcasting without any explanation. Years then passed, and Arisu is now a second-year high-schooler. He makes it his mission to search for Apollo, as there is something he wants to tell her. He doesn't know what she looks like, or even what her real name is, but he manages to get some leads on her in his school's broadcasting club. That's where he meets four girls who all dream to get a job where they can make full use of their voices! Just who is Apollo, and how will those four's dreams pan out?

Episode 1

And here's a different kind of harem show where Arisu (which is quite unusual for a guy's name) is a big fan of the radio personality known as Apollo, but all of the sudden she stops broadcasting altogether. So after some time passed, he's now going to the same school she is hoping to meet her in person and say something to her. Arisu comes across as stalkerish, but in the end he joins the broadcasting club in a school that used to be separate boys and girls schools before merging. Interesting start here as I'm curious to see who Apollo is and why exactly she put down the mic for all that time and all. And the girls sure have a wide assortment of personalities and career goals that ought to make for some great character development.

The first few minutes I was extremely wary about this.

But it ended up being funny.

Still contrived premise and behavior, but the premise isn't usually important.

"So who was that girl I fell in love with way back when...?"

They're not sisters, but it feels like a Quints kinda setup.

I like the character dynamics in this one. The humor and characters are working well for me, so I'll be watching.

Episode 2

The search for Apollo continues as Arisu has the girls do some training. And afterwards, Arisu has some time with the girls individually to help them out with pursuing their careers. First it's Rikka as she puts on a street performance at school to showcase her new song. Arisu tries to perform himself even going as far as to practice way too hard for it, and the performance was a mess, but it gave Rikka some confidence. Then it's Nene who is trying to be an actress with an audition coming up, but has been struggling. But while Arisu isn't exactly the best person to teach her, he managed to get her confidence up. In the end, Nene failed, but for reasons beyond her control, and after that she goes full-blown tsundere. And here we got the tropes for what a girl in a typical harem includes, but Arisu is doing his job as the lead quite well. Looks like next time Iko and Shinobu will get their time with Arisu to help out in their respective career aspirations as Iko is aiming to make it big as a VTuber, while Shinobu is hoping to go into radio broadcasting.

I'm impressed that the show manages to make Arisu's narcissism into an endearing trait, thanks to the fact that nobody takes him seriously, but he still tries to live up to his self-image.

Episode 3

The girls ought to know better than to change without locking the radio broadcasting room first. It turns out that even though Arisu hails from a rich family, he doesn't get to spend any of it himself, so he works as a cafe waiter to buy some new radio equipment for the club, which is against school rules. So after Rikka and Nene got some 1-on-1 time with Arisu, Iko gets her's. First up is Iko as she's aspiring to be a VTuber, and while Arisu is trying to be helpful, he's sending the wrong message by locking the door and pinning Iko to the ground. All of that made Iko stiffer than usual and her viewership tanks. But after pausing the stream Arisu gets it through her head that to gain viewers she must act her true self, and by accident, and that did the trick as viewers were eagerly awaiting her to get back on the air. Arisu can go overboard with his antics there, but he's trying to help out.

Episode 4

And now, Shinobu gets her 1-on-1 time with Arisu as she's far more on top of things than the other girls are, which is necessitated by her role as the student council VP. With the sports festival coming up that this is her time to shine as a broadcaster, but last year's event was a disaster. And with Shinobu graduating in the spring that she plans to leave the club after the festival to focus on studying for college. So the sports day festival is on, and Arisu is not to enthusiastic about participating in it seeing that doing so interferes with his task of being an announcer. He was dragged into the event to be the scavenger hunt target for Rikka and Iko, and then as a replacement base for the cavalry event that he naturally fails at. And then the club advisor Lemon-sensei has some harsh words for the club when Shinobu talks about distributing flyers for confession consultation. That was some great stuff about Shinobu there as she's the straight girl of this club.

Episode 5

Shinobu wants to run a proxy confession service, and Lemon reluctantly agrees to help as she gets the PE teacher Samejima to step away for a few minutes so that the club, with specially-prepared cosplay, can hand flyers to advertise the service. And it was a hit as everybody loved hearing Shinobu talk over the speaker. But technical difficulties threatened to shut down the service. Good thing Arisu was resourceful and got the bullhorn out so that Shinobu could finish. And then Arisu listens in to a proxy confession himself there at the end. Pretty creative way for Shinobu to do what she wants to do there even if it pushed the boundaries of school rules.

Tried to get back to this but, it just feels like a by-the-books harem I've already seen a thousand times. The MMC does feel somewhat different than the usual, and there's some fun with the ladies too. But overall... meh. On-hold for now.

EDIT: I went back and finished the 2nd episode; Yamabuki and Himekawa's dynamic is actually really fun. xD
Me and my stupid impatience-- it's actually quite fun because of the banters.

Didn't the white haired Vtube girl say something about wanting to confess to the person she stopped chatting with? Was that a red herring, or did the author not know that would sound like she was Apollo?

I mean Apollo's personality fits most with the brown haired girl

Really appreciating this a lot now. Low budget in animation, but not in entertainment quality-- there's effort in execution. If this had a similar art and animation quality as Makeine, this might've been a top-tier show. But its own art style actually adds to the charm.

If this wasn't a harem, it would still work as just a romance story between Uzuki and Yamabuki-- their chemisty and individual personality are actually interesting enough. Maybe with Himekawa as secondary/rival too. Same setup as Blue Box, but with much more interesting MMC and FMC (Hina Chouno still best girl though,).

It might be the usual trick of making someone seem to be the very "obvious" choice, which often mean they won't be. Kirino (Vtuber) likely won't be it because of that. Almost the same case with Rikka (Brown-haired girl) with how mysterious she is still-- they want to make us think it's likely her, especially considering that she'll be the last to have an arc/moment with Yamabuki.
We'll see in a few episodes... or in 2-3 years if they plan to stretch this out xD

Episode 6

With the sports festival in the rear view mirror, the club celebrates a job well done by having a party inside Lemon-sensei's apartment. Arisu falls asleep while the girls get quite aggressive with him there. The girls were all told to bring something, and they all wound up bringing cakes while Lemon-sensei bought one on her own. And then comes a game of Jenga that the girls totally rigged together as the blocks were arranged in a way that guarantees that Arisu would lose. Pretty wild time that was as the girls sure didn't hold back in teasing Arisu in the way they did.

I doubt this would happen but it would be a nice twist if it turned out to be Lemon.

After giving up on some other shows decided to give this a try. Pretty funny through the first three episodes. Nice little mix of ecchi, harem and CGDCT.

Episode 7

And now, it looks like each of the girls will get another episode to themselves here, starting with Rikka who explains why she only sings original songs and not something others have composed. She's a huge fan of the band Hugg Notes, along with her friend from middle school Aiko. During her performance, she abruptly stopped playing once she spotted Aiko, and since then Arisu. has been trying to get her to keep pursuing her passion, starting with that karaoke challenge and while Arisu's skill can't match Rikka's, his determination blows her's out of the water as Rikka admits. And then he takes the club out shopping, and then finishes up with a trip to the karaoke parlor. Rikka sure has talent, but her mental state definitely isn't where it needs to be at the moment.

Well all caught up, got good but now why is he acting all desperate to find out who she is when he just gave up the chance to find out, kinda dumb.

Now it seems like it's trying to steer back to the 'any or all of them' angle. Could have been all of them as friends to begin with. The first episode said how they have similar voices and the electronic attenuation made them sound the same.
