He beat Maki up but he SA'ed Mai. Not shown in the anime but was mentioned in the manga.
| @Sachi_11 Naoya is trash, but I feel like his statement is being twisted too much. To me, what he's saying is simply provoking Maki by making fun of the fact that Mai died young. |

For context from the confusion, some people are referring to what Naoya said in a later chapter in regards to Mai.

Ohhhh, see the thing is that in the anime, the viewer sees this exact panel from the window looking at Naoya’s back, which makes Maki barely visible. Because of that, it’s really difficult to understand what Naoya is doing to Maki. But in the manga panel you shared, it’s clearly visible.
Honestly, using any other camera angle wouldn’t cause this confusion.
