This season is going to be only 9 episodes with a movie coming out in 2027, so that explains the late start to this season.

Episode 14

It's off to Chuo in for the All-Japan, and right off the bat Inori makes quite the fool of herself with her introduction there as she didn't realize the stakes of this competition. Not to mention, Hikaru isn't competing this time. Then comes the skater who represented Japan in the last Olympics, Riina, and Inori once again makes a fool of herself not knowing who Riina is exactly. Nevertheless, the pressure is on, and at the very least Inori will have some time to get focused as she's going 14th as part of the second group, which is the second-to-last skater at the competition. Great to be back with this amazing sports show, and appropriately it's happening with the 2026 Winter Olympics just a couple of weeks away.

Adoooorbs! It's still very adorable! >.< The OP has more of a western pop vibe, but it's quite a bop and has that victorious feel to it.

Just a bummer that it has to be locked in Disney+ again for us, with those darn irremovable black background on the subtitles. xP

EDIT: Holy shid! 9 episodes??? So, it ends with the upcoming movie??? This could have at least 3 single cour seasons.

@HOOfan_1 Exactly. Long awaited Frieren season and it's only gonna be 10 episodes. With Medalist though, It's just really baffling why'd they do this to a new Anime that was just shaping up to be a solid series. And if a movie is coming, then it's more than likely ending already... this early. T-T

Episode 15

Here is an episode that shows how important resiliency is as even when a skater makes a mistake, it's still possible to get a high score if the rest of the program is strong. And then there's the tendency to front-load the program putting the most difficult of jumps like the Axel and Lutz early on when the skater's stamina is at its peak. Manaka really shows that in her performance as she made some pretty big mistakes there that would have broken other skaters that includes an aborted combination, but not Manaka as she continues on as if nothing happened and finished strong. So now that she has set the bar high, it's almost time for Inori to go on the ice and prove that she's worthy of the All-Japans.

The panic setting in after the first mistake and mentally pushing through it. Fantastic work by the voice actor there.

Tutorial episode, but quite an informative one. It also did a great job of showing the stress and pressure each individual performers deals with, even just from the performance placement alone.

The OSTs are quite good, and the OP is also growing on me now, especially with the part where the characters are performing-- it has that 'girl power' vibe to it that fits the show.

Indeed. The entire Manaka performance is really well done: Upbeat music going along with her confidence, stopping when she was stressed and panicking, then plays again when she cleared her mind and got determined. Love it.

Episode 16

Three more skaters to go with the next one being the favorite, Yuna. She was considered the number 2 girl until Hikaru came along and took the figure skating world by storm. And now, she has been really upping the ante with her routine to the point where she goes against what the program her coach choreographed for her to include the extremely difficult jumps that Hikaru can do with ease. Initially, it looked like it was going to backfire as her jumps were not clean. But she recovers and skates flawlessly thereafter to clinch a spot in the All-Japans. The coach should have had a little bit more faith in Yuna, but there's no question she is worthy of standing toe-to-toe with Hikaru. Next time, it's Inori's turn to skate as it all comes down to this.

oof this can be tense at times.
I know she's aiming at that top spot but for the story to progress she only needs to be in that top five. There might be more character development for her to not get the top spot here. Or as the 2nd last person, to get it and then have it taken from her by whoever is in last.

Episode 17

And now, it's Inori's turn to skate. It's a good thing that there was a lot of explanations about how programs are constructed seeing that Tsukasa created one that really amps up the difficulty where the tough jumps are usually at the start, but here it's at the end. Inori's program starts off with simple jumps that she has easily mastered and then victory or defeat comes down to the final jump that's a combo that requires her to follow through with the left foot instead of the right as it's usually done, and then finish off with a triple Salchow. And Inori pulled it off to perfection to land the top score and a spot in the All-Japans. After that, the coaches of the skaters advancing to the All-Japans gather for a BBQ to celebrate, and then Shinichiro asks Tsukasa what was going through his mind with the decision to make that insane program as he was aiming for the top so that Inori can go toe-to-toe with Hikaru, all while he wants to beat Jun, something he didn't get a chance to do back when he was a figure skater. So with that, Inori is onto the next step, but things are only going to get harder, so there's lots of hard training ahead.

The choice of music for Inori's performance really stands out to me. It was a much softer piece than we had for the other girls yet it worked really well to generate a feeling of tension.

I kind of just want to see Tsukasa and Hitomi get back together as a pair...both on the ice and romantically...although I don't think they ever were romantically involved.

Oh yeah-- I forgot about them being a pair. They haven't given Hitomi screentime until the latest episode.
Tsukasa seem to have his eyes set on Jun though xD
