NO NO NO NO NO. To everything in that second to last paragraph. And as far as the last paragraph, i don't think he let her down. I think she just wanted him to clearly state his feelings. But the rest of what you said i 'm right there with you. *squee*'s, *sigh*'s and everything. Some where in kore koi wa hanashi ni, in one of the title pages, it says something about kids being able to feel love even thought they are just kids. A lot more poetically stated of course but that something that stuck with me. Kouta even though he is young he still man enough to want to be there for her. But he is a kid and while i believe kids can be seriously in love , they are at a place where they will go through so much changes in a short period of time. So whats my point?
I think she was stuck between a rock and a hard place with her feelings and his feelings. Would something like a romance between them even work or have a bad influence on him. And what if he grows out of it than how will she be left, with so much emotion invested into something that had no chance from the word go? Then also the circumstances of them coming together was so extravagant, what effect would that have on the relationship. Those kind of thoughts ring true to me so i find the putting the relationship on hold was understandable.
Thats where i disagree with you. I don't think she was disappointed so she ended things with hi. I think rather it was the tried and true shelf test. Put away the ragging hormones, the push from outside influences, and the rush of emotions and see what happens. Absence makes the heart grow fonder if it is true feelings in the first place. She was committed, her heart belonged to him, the question was, is he. And yay!! or *suee* he was. In short i loved the ending.
One thing i don't get is why the no contact. Manga always do that. Like we don't live in the era of instant communication. How cool would it have been to have a montage of emails over the four years with the last one something. We be there Such and such date re: i'll be "there" re:re: I have something to say again. Or something around those lines. But no they always completely cut off communication before a time skip. Hate that. |
