I've just been wondering how long it took Akari to become a prima undine. Apparently, she was 15 when she started out as a pair and arrived in spring (Acqua alta).
Since she became a prima at the end of her 3rd spring on Aqua, that'd result in a timespan of 5 years on a Mars 6-months-per-season timescale, wouldn't it?

I was asking myself that timeline question too.

According to that 6-months-per-season Amano-sensei has thought up you might be right that aprox. 5 Earth-years have passed. But that made me think about Alice-chan and her Middle School graduation, meaning that she would have been like 4-5 Earth-years in Middle School. Unless the Middle School system got changed and adjusted to Aqua-years - or it's not the well-known Japanese Middle School system at all - it's not making sense.

On the other hand they don't age - at least not visible to the eye (except Al-kun who is supposed to be 19 at the beginning, lol). In Anime one would except for Alice-chan to grow somewhat in some special places ;) - or at least Ai-chan, for her it would be most obvious since kids in that age-range tend to grow fast in a time-frame of ~5 Earth-years or even ~2-3 Aqua-years.

I could not come up with an answer for me. For some this might be a huge plot-hole.

But for me I decided that it does not matter in the end, because this series as a whole is a masterpiece and as such timeless :)

Yeah, I've thought of the age problem as well, but I think it actually works out.
Though this only applies to the manga, if you consider Akari and Aika only meet Alice halfway through volume 5, she may have been around for only 3 years. Though I don't remember if they mentioned her age at that point.

To make the confusion worse:

I just had a look at the Monthly Undine Magazines. In the issues 4-6 covering Alice, Aika and Akari when they are Primas they are stated to be just one year older, 15, 17 and 16 respectively. The same applies to Athena - 22, Akira - 21 and Alicia - 20.

They changed the style of writing the year of the issues too, from 08-2301 (Akira), 13-2302 (Alicia, the issue appearing in the series) and 18-2302 (Athena) to 14-A.C.0076 (Alice), 15-A.C.0076 (Aika) and 16-A.C.0076 (Akari). A.C. probably meaning something like "After Colonization".

My guess given their age would be 2303. But without knowing the exact equivalent of A.C.0000 there is know way of being sure which Earth-year that is - only guessing is possible on the fact that it's often stated that Aqua is colonized for 150 years - which could just be an approximate too.

I think they are doing this on purpose, as if saying "Time does not matter, just enjoy it". While it's fun to analyze the timeline given the facts scattered throughout the Manga, Anime and Merchandise I am perfectly fine with that message :)
