| Cyn looks over the landscape wearily. "I'm sorry Alan. You've been standing here for a while now, and I haven't said anything to you..." |
| Alan shakes her head. "N-No no it's fine. I understand, your worried." |
| He shakes his head. "I shouldn't have let her go alone. I should have gone with her. That's three times today I've ignored her when I shouldn't have..." He kicks the dirt. "Damn it! I'm such a fool..." |
| Alan shakes her head. "Hey stop dwelling on what you should have done. A wise man once told me this: "My favorite thing about time is that it isn't real. It's all in the head. Sure, it's a useful trick to use if you want to meet someone at a specific place in the universe and have tea or coffee, but that's all it is, a trick. There is no such thing as the past. It exists only in memory. There is no such thing as the future. It exists only in our imagination. If our watches were truly accurate the only thing they would ever say is, "Now". That's what time is. It's now." She smiles and brushes a piece of hair out of his face. "So don't focus on then or when. Focus on now. Okay?" |
| Cyn's face almost turns red. (What's with this girl? She's so...positive. Almost more so than...Stop. Don't think about it.) He looks at her blankly, his voice having no tone as he says, "I don't get you." |
| Alan looks perplexed. "Why is that?" |
| "I don't know." Cyn says. "You're so..." He pauses. "Different." He nods. "Yeah, that's the word for it. I've never spent time with someone...quite like you before..." He puts up his hands as if trying to fend off someone, and starts talking fast. "Ah! But don't take that the wrong or anything...I mean I didn't really mean anything by it...Different's good right?" He looks at the ground and sighs. "I'm an idiot..." |
| Alan giggles softly. "No your not. Different is good! I hope that we can become good friends. Oh, and Cyn.." She looks at him intensely "Your different too." |
| This time, Cyn is unable to hide his blushing. "Uh...thanks I guess..." He looks up and sees Alexi a fair distance from the ship. He stands abruptly. "Alexi." He walks towards her, then stops. She reaches him in a few quick strides, and stops, looking down at the ground. "Alexi..." "It's done. We can go now. Whenever's fine." Her voice has no tone. He gets in close to her and places his hands on her shoulders. "Hey." He says gently. "Look at me." She does. "I'm sorry Alexi. I should have gone with you. I promise, next time we find the b*stard, you won't have to face him alone." She nods, brushes off his hands, and enters the ship. He watches her go silently. (I'm so stupid.) |
| Alan walks into the ship as well. "Coming Cyn?" |
| "Yeah..." Cyn says absently. (I swear I'll kill him. The b*stard will pay for what he's done to this family!) |

| Cyn tells the crew to prepare for take-off, then heads to the captain's quarters. He knocks on the door. "Hey. Alexi," he says gently. "You okay?" Silence. Cyn leans against the door and absently plays with his hands. "Listen...I just wanted to--" He gets cut off as the door opens and he's forced to catch himself before he falls on his face. Alexi stands in front of him, looking at the floor. "Sorry about that." She gives a shaky laugh. "Didn't know you wer leaning on the door..." "It's okay. No harm done." "No. I suppose not." "Hey," he lifts her chin up so she has to look at him. Her eyes are a bit red and puffy. "You okay?" "Yeah...I guess I should go be captain again right?" She steps by him, then stops. "I'm sorry Cyn. I didn't mean to make you worry." She walks away then. Cyn's left standing in her doorway, watching her go. "You idiot. You're not the one who needed to apologize..." |
| Alan walks through the ship admiring it's beauty. "How wonderous." |
| Alexi sees Alan wandering about. "Hiyas Alan!" She walks over to her. "Finding everything alright? I hope the crew has been...decent towards you." |
| Alan looks at her happily. "Why yes, everything is fine. They are quite kind as well." She smiles brightly. |
| Alexi let out a sigh of relief. "That's good. Don't let them fool ya, they're a bunch of womanizers." She smiled and shrugged. "But you shouldn't have a problem with that. Besides, they're good guys. Most of the time anyway." |
| Alan giggles. "It's probobly because I look like a boy." |
| "That may be part of it." Alexi winks. "So you're from Halloin? I've never been. What's it like?" |
| She looks at her very seriously. "Dry." she pauses and laughs. "No, its wonderful. We have our own culture. Very secular compared to other planets." |
| "Interesting..." Alexi thinks to herself for a moment before saying, "Is there any grass there? Real grass? And trees? What about them? What about water? Is the water there natural?" She catches herself. "Eh...sorry. I'm just a bit curious is all..." |
| "Fire away!" she smiles. "Yes there is grass, green and lucious grass. Trees, we have alot but not so much to have forests. Water. The water is our life line. The water is what the godess had blessed us with. It is natural, organic, Halloins blood that runs through the planet, her veins." |
| Alexi looks at her with a meadure of jealosy and wonder in her eyes. "Natural. Everything's natural?" She laughs a bit. "You're so lucky. I bet it's nice." A pause. "The Halloins' blood? The water is your blood? You mean, more like a representation of your life energy...or something right?" |
| "Well, yes but we really do run on water. More so than others. I guess you can think of us as some sort of alien-like living aquifer. It is nice, the natural planet we have. It is more so because everything is pure. Water cleanses. It cures. It heals. Water is the ultimate savior of lives just as the goddess is." The mark on her forehead glows a beautiful blue through her bangs as she speaks inspirationally. |
| Alexi stares at it in wonder. "Whoa." She reaches out like she wants to touch it, but quickly catches herself and lowers her hand. "Maybe if more water was on Kavarda, the people would get better..." |
| Alan frowns. "Are you sure you could fit so much water on a man-made base?" |
| Alexi gives a humorless laugh. "They would build it bigger if need be." She does a flourish with her hands. "Anything for the people!" She sighs. "What do I care anyway? That's not Kavarda anyway...And nothing anyone does can change that." |
| "Do you ever think...nevermind" she shakes her head. |
| "What?" Alexi says, curious. "Do I ever think what?" |
| "That, maybe you could rebuild the planet. Not obviously everything that was in it but, maybe the planet in general." She bites her lip. |
| Alexi looks away from her and out the window, her voice filled with sadness when she spoke. "We've tried. On so many occasions, we tried. We tried to piece it back together after its destruction. Failure. We tried building it from materials found on other planets. Failure. We've tried a countless number of things, all resulting in failure. If you can come up with something we haven't tried, you'd be a genius and a savior if it worked." She scoffed into the air. "We're idiots, us Kavardans. You don't know how lucky you are Alan." |
| She giggles. "You silly head. Why don't you just use your sculptural intaglio?" |
| Alexi looks at her puzzled. "My what?" |
| "A sculptural intglio is the ability to form a world or another naturally made form of nature. On my planet, we all have it. We sometimes entertain ourselves by making worlds for our toys when we are children they are usually small however, and they last for maybe a week. I make them for our insects so they have no threats of harm from certain predators. It's like a world inside a world. You can make it however you want. They take lots of time for only lasting a while however. I am guessing though, if you had enough power and daily maintenance you could create a new Kavarda and flourish like you once did." She smiles widely. |
| Alexi eyes widened in surprise. For a moment she's speachless. "Really?" She thought for a moment. "But they don't last long...and the amount of people it would take to do it..." She shakes her head. "I'm sure they are aware of that possibility, and they probably haven't tried it due to the massive amount of people they'd need. Or they might have already tried it. Kavarda's been gone for a long time now. They've had enough time." |
| "Alexi, I can get you the people you need to restore Kavarda. I am sure the Goddess's advisor would be able to speak with you. It might take a bit of convincing but I believe in you." She smiles and puts a hand on her shoulder. "You could settle this, you could be a hero. You would then have enough money to not have to deal with those people either." |
| Alexi's face seems to lose a bit of color. "I couldn't do that. What if I did get the people necessary to help me Alan. Then what happens when they fail!?" She takes a breath. "Besides, say they do succeed, though the odds are slim, what then? They'll have to stay on the new Kavarda and maintain it. I couldn't ask that of your people. I have no right to do so." |
| "Knowing our planet, we will need something from you in return. We are humble and always want to help. Alexi, you will do fine. They can do this. With the goddess on our side. We can." She look at her caringly. |
| "Something in return?" Alexi immediately gets suspicious. "Like what?" |
| "Our planet isn't as great as it looks." She sighs. "It might be natural and beautiful but we are an easy target. We can be easily destroyed." |
| Alexi looked at her with a blank expression. "You're asking me to be a kind of bodyguard to your people in exchange for a scatter-brained plan, that's bound to fail mind you, to build a totally new planet from whatever it is you plan to use?" She burst out laughing then. "Do you think that the Galactic Federation will allow this!? They'll try to stop us, strip me of my status and most likely kill me and whoever was cooperating with me." |
| "How much...would you risk for your..."base"...Alexi?" She gives he a questioning look. |
| Alexi scoffs. "That scrap of metal isn't worth a thing to me." Though that sentence was full of disdain and disgust, the next is full of compassion. "It's the people on the base that matter. I'd save them if they needed saving." She looks Alan drectly in the eye, her eyes full of determination. "I'd save them." Cyn, who's been in the hallway listening to them, smiles to himself. (I guess she is alright. Alexi, you haven't changed a bit.) |
| Alan nods. "I understand. I just thought you would want to make them a better enviornment." She smiles. |
| "Don't misunderstand me." Alexi said seriously. "I do wish that they have the best possible environment, and that living on an artificial planet is something no one should have to do. That's why, Alan, as dumb as it is, I think-" "We should do it." Cyn and Alexi said at the same time. |
| Alan looks astonished at them both. "R-Really?" she smiles brightly. "OH THAT IS GREAT!" |
| Cyn and Alexi look at each other and smile. "Yeah." Cyn says. "Of course we're in." "If it'll help them," Alexi said. "Then I'll do it." She walked to the edge of the railing, to where you can see where the crew was piloting the ship. "Crew!" "Captain!" "Chart a new course! We fly to Halloin." |
