Do you have high expectations on the manga?

Do you have them? Personally I do have extremely high expectations... By each chapter that goes by in the story of this manga I really think this can overcome in someways Ohba and Obata's previous work... Death Note

Let me clarify that I think Bakuman will not overcome suspense/detective-ness, ethics heavy atmosphere like Death Note, but plotwise it seems promising...

Plus if you think about all the possibilities of the manga... and a fairly unexplored story for a manga/anime (well at least I haven't heard of many "a mangaka's everyday life anime/manga" besides this manga itself and maybe Doujin Work and Sketchbook)... So it's cool they try to make this manga...

Let's see what does this one has on store for us...

Death Note truly was a masterpiece
That's also the first manga about a mangaka's life I've read so far, a side which we don't know that much, thus anything could happen, plus we're talking about Ohba and Obata, so even if the concept is completely different from DN, I can expect them to bring out a very good story.
I'm also curious on how they'll lead it though.. objectives and characters are set, now what hardships will the protagonists have to overcome ?

I really think it will later be honored as a masterpiece. The reputation of Obata and Ohba (especially together) will help with that, and Death Note in one word = brilliant. And besides that, after the first chapter I'd already though it was awesome, the same with Death Note. Also, I feel that it will get a clear end, and not be one of the everlasting manga series as Naruto, Bleach and One Piece. (I really hate that it goes on and on and on..) Besides that, it's just awesome, as it describes something that could really happen, and something every manga reader can relate to at that.

I do, and not just because of the masterpiece that Death Note was. Judging from the first few chapters of Bakuman (which were excellent) this manga seems like it's going to be great. :D

Now... Is it just me or this smelling that it's gonna be a not so long manga like Death Note was... I kinda feel that this could feel like a 50-ish shortish series... NOOOO I really want this manga to last for 110+ chappies!

Death Note wasn't exactly long chapter wise either. 110 chap. is miniscule for a Jump series, to be truthful.

But it would be amazing if it went on for a while. It is getting good now. ^^

I think it could go both ways. but judging from the fact that it is the DN creators, I am expecting a lot from them. I mean DN was so good that I expect more from other things I watch and I never enjoy eeverything else as much because I eexpect too much from it. But if it is the DN creators, I think it should be another great manga with lots of twists but not one of those on going mangas. I just cant wait to see the outcome.

I agree with Izumi64. It's kinda like behind the scenes. And it does help to teach how the industry is like.

Knowing that L has been created afte Tsugumi-san, I wonder how much this manga contains the actual personality of the duo^^
Sometimes I kind of feel like some of the happenings or statements are coming from the mouth of the author and/or mangaka...

I have quiet high expectations on the series, and hope it won't end up like epic messed up Shounen Jump serialization, Naruto...> >
Ohba sensei and Ohba-san hopefully can keep up the high quality their name stands for^^

Death Note truly was a masterpiece, thus I have high expectations. I think the dream team Ohba und Obata did a great job with Bakuman. Each chapter is full of tense, by now, there wasn't any chapter I disliked. The characters are well eveloping and very likeable. I cannot wait to see what will happen next to Saiko und Shujin.

I hope so, too. Naruto really got worse.

it is getting better than ever with all the fuss about number one and whatnot.. :)) i think it will be a superb anime with all the extra manga that can be literally turned into an anime and can be a universe that exists in their works.. LOL. that would be awesome.. :))
