You can suggest anime/manga relations here. These are the rules:

-The show must contain little or no violence.
-There should not be any magical/fantastical elements to the story. Some exceptions can be made, such as in Air and Asatte no Houkou.
-The story line or plot elements should not contain anything too confusing.

If you can think of any more rules I should add, post them here too.

How about Honey & Clover and Honey & Clover II?

It has a wonderful story, great characters and it's heartwarming.

And it has scenes that are funny and touching.

Yes, I'll add those! A lot of the anime I already have listed I haven't even watched yet, and I remember reading about Honey and Clover but never actually watching it.

Probably my most light hearted show. If we're ever changing mascot characters Yuzu's my next choice!

Oh, what about Tokyo Mew Mew. A few episodes of that and my teeth start to rot, lol. Or would it be considered more shojo? Anyway just a suggestion.

I've never actually watched Tokyo Mew Mew... except for when I went on a cruise and watched the Spanish dub. Anyways, I think it could be added.

Well, you gotta distinguish between light-hearted + down to earth and mahou shoujo, I don't mean to say anything against other relation suggestions, but you could basically add all mahou shoujo then. That's just my opinion.

I'm reading the manga at the moment, and I think that and the anime of Nodame Cantabile are more than qualified to be called light-hearted ^^

Yeah I've only read the first volume of Nodame (I actually haven't read manga in general in a while) but from what I did read, and what I've heard, I think it qualifies :P

How about Kenko Zenrakei Suieibu Umisho? Its just a slice of life comedy series about High School Swim team.

Another series would be Genshiken. A series about Otaku life starring, who else but otakus. :) Its one of my fav series.

NieA_7? Granted, it has sci-fi elements, but you hardly even notice them.
Hitohira, Hayate no Gotoku, Kimikiss, and Tokimeki Memorial deserve some consideration as well, I'd say.

I'd like to suggest adding To Heart to the list. It's mellow and carefree, nothing particularly serious happens, and is very heart-warming all the way through. Not too sure about To Heart 2 and RMM as I haven't seen them in a while but I do recall them both getting a little serious and thus not suitably light-hearted.

Here's my 2c worth to start off 2008
- REC
- Hataraki Man
- Today in Class 5-2
- Bamboo Blade
- Mokke
- Lemon Angel Project

I assume you're only focusing on series, otherwise 5cm a Second needs to be there... and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time.

Also, not sure if ef should be there - not really that light-hearted. Likewise Sola - starts out fluffy enough but I wouldn't say the ending is that light hearted.

from what i can recall of kashimashi its not really all that lighthearted

what about Ah! My Goddess, i know theres magic in every episode but the theme of the show is more of a warmhearted slice of life/comedy than mahou shoujo.

edit: clannad might also be a good one, it has some supernatural elements in one of the plot arcs and a hand full of action scenes but nothing that should prevent it from consideration.

From the vid by Koopisceva 5cm doesn't look lighthearted at all! The story's so poignant....I haven't seen it though so perhaps there's some hidden flippancy I didn't know about.

Immensely gratified to have Lucky Star in there, but has anyone considered Toradora? Breezy rom-com with a bit of Slice Of Life in it; gets a bit dramatic later on.

My suggestions: Beauty Pop, Azusa Helps!, Andalucia no Natsu (good OVAs), Bamboo Blade, some Ghibli movies like Kiki's Delivery Service, Mahou Tsukai Tai!, Ah My Goddess! (mainly the manga), Twin Spica, Uninhabited Planet Survive, You're Under Arrest!.

Those are the ones I think fits better.
