Seems like their powers are really based on tarot cards..

Im confused on this. Each Arcana made a deal with a tarot card and they somehow developed power. For example, Debito made a deal with 9th card and can turn invisible..

Anyone wanna clarify on these deals?

I think the base for this story is that the tarot cards actually represent entities with which you can bargain (by the ritual) to receive powers based on the characteristics of the card. Since the Hermit represents withdrawal from the world, invisibility is a reasonable interpretation of what power you would gain (another possibility would have been invulnerability by being able to displace yourself out of the way of a damaging blow). Since the tarot has been associated with a number of Western occult traditions (from Kabbalah through Aleister Crowley to modern Wicca) there are a wide range of interpretations that can be given. Based on the cards shown, this series is using an early Italian deck (or one created to resemble it), but my guess is we'll get the meanings associated with the Waite/Coleman deck of the early 20th century (also the most familiar to the general public). Just on another note, since power has to come from somewhere, there is always a price to be paid. It will be interesting to see if that was indeed the case and just what that price was. Also about half of the cards have feminine figures featured (including Strength and Justice), but it looks like this is a pretty androcentric organization what with "Papa" running the show.

All I could think of most of the episode was the Persona series.

For those who don't know, the game is basically developing links with people who have each of the cards and the stronger that link, the more powerful Personas you can create.

This was actually what went across my mind when I first saw merchandise in a store for the game (several months ago).

But that's not to say that's the only reason I got interested in this series [I mean Arcana Famiglia].
