"An announcement" and in the way it's going to be given isn't likely to be much aside a season 2 or at the very least another few OVAs, so as someone already said on the ANN forums - it's extremely likely they just had to deny it due to a leak and being how the system works. If someone leaks information, you vaguely say it's not true - at the moment, and then get to wait till the planned time to say it's legit.
