I’m not mature enough? Lmao, this was one of the worst animes I’ve ever seen bruh. Every arch after the first one was terrible and so dumb that I started to consider this more of a comedy (and a bad one). That last arch with they transforming into babies was just the cherry on the top. The relationship choice was still weird imo but the anime got so many other reasons to be considered trash after that. This show has to be the opposite of mature 😂

if that's not the case then u didn't pay enough attention that's its one of the two

so the relationship choice was natural and realistic how they build it, first it was iori and then they became to realize that all that crap what happened made them grew distant mc at first just din't want to admit it and still was caching her

ur just bitter cause ur favorite ship didn't sail
U literally ignored everything I said lmao. Are you getting to the point where you accept such a bad screenplay like this one just because you got happy about a ship? Damn bruh, that has to be the most normie thing I’ve ever seen. Ships in animes where the romance are not the main focus won’t really destroy the anime for me (obviously) but this one was just overall really bad lmao. The oblu good arch was the first one (I could probably give it like a 7) everything else was just so stupid that even the mystical nature of the anime got bad. Anyway I won’t argue too much about an anine I don’t really care mate, only reason I didn’t drop this first season was cause I hate dropping animes, I stayed till’ the end like a champion (I even saw the whole turning into babies arch 😭😭😂😂) and gave a fair 3.

I don't like TaichixHimeko, but I can accept it, sure many like it, but for me, TaichixIori makes more sense

After rewatching this anime, overall, I thought it was worth an 8/10, but now I realize it's more of a 6/10 for how dumb the romance is in its flawed convenience of awkward drama, even though the setup of forcing characters to mature and deal with their issues or surpass them was great, some of their reactions are ridiculous.

Eh.. idk how to feel abt this one. i understand iori's dark arc coming especially after her rant last episode but they could've done it better. maybe its just me but it rly felt messy and the complications, resolutions etc were so ?? I CANT EXPLAIN THIS GODD

list of my fav charas in order now: aoki, iori, yui, inaba, taichi. listed that to idk keep track? record ?? on how i feel rn with them ig lol. i dont dislike any of the characters but taichi is probably the closest to that, he just seemed so.. Basic. no like seriously we didn't get any arc for him he just helped everyone because hes so "kind and caring that he's selfish and selfless" he still had his moments tho ig.

overall.. Alright. i guess. i enjoyed watching it

The main series started of so well but then fell very flat, and these 4 remaining episodes didn't change much I'm afraid.

Lots of wasted potential here. 5/10 for the main series and Michi Random.

these 4 episodes were ok, but I do wish this final arc was 3 episodes instead 4 episodes. And now for my pros and cons of the 17-episodes Kokoro Connect:

Positives for overall anime:

-Captivating story.

-You like all 5 main characters. You feel for them.

-The background music is very captivating.

-One of the few animes that can include comedy along with its drama and not feel stupid.

-Even if some moment felt melodramatic, it was still well played.

Negative for overall anime:

-I really felt that the romance should have been stronger in this anime just as the dilemmas with Heartseed. Seriously, this anime had a lot of potential to be a great romance, since you really like and feel for all 5 characters. BUT its a shame that just when you thought the romance was gonna pick up after giving us hints and scenes, the romance would disappear for many episodes, or, when the romance showed up again, the romance would just be there for comedic forgettable stuff.

Each arc positives and negatives:

-The first arc was awesome. No need to add more.

-The second arc was good but it overstayed its welcome, it should have been less than 5 episodes.  I did not like how they made Inaba be in love with Taichi; to be honest, Inaba's crush for Taichi came out of nowhere for me.

-The third arc was mostly good and I liked that it was only 3 episodes long. Although I was barfing at how everyone was salivating over Taichi in the final arc. But I did like how in the final arc how everyone's memory after they got reset back to their normal age from a young age, those past memories were still fresh in their mind in their current age, as if it had just happened and not a distant memory; that was very interesting.

-As for this fourth final arc, as I said above, I wish it was 3 episodes instead of 4 episodes.  To be honest, this final arc just felt like a way for Taichi to make a decision between the two girls, and since they made Iori just unlikeable and rejecting Taichi, it made things easier for Taichi on who to pick.  Seriously, this personality 180-switch on Iori was just bad-writing. But I do feel like I got a finale from this anime; I dont need to see more Kokoro Connect. Again, I did not like how they made Inaba just fall in love head over heels over Taichi, and I didnt like how they made Iori just an annoying character in this final arc, and I didnt like how Iori's personality once again became the focus in this arc; I thought episode 13 was the finale of Iori's personality trouble.

But overall, Kokoro Connect is an enjoyable anime with great voice casting and enjoyable characters. It has a good atmosphere that draws you in along with a nice OST for every scene. Kokoro Connect is an anime that I enjoyed for what it is, but its not an anime that I love.

I feel like the writer thought "Oh no, people like Inaba more than Nagase, time to make main character love her out of nowhere."

16.5 episodes of Taichi proving his love to Nagase ends with half an episode of him and Inaba being together. I haven't read the source material, but I'm feeling like there's a HUGE portion being left out. This last episode was atrocious in already very mediocre show.

I felt like the kidnapping and the three thugs harming the club was totally unnecessary and completely out of place and out of character for this anime/light novel series. Those thugs have like serious issues when they are doing criminal acts kids their age shouldn't even be doing (what the F is wrong with them), like slapping Kaoru, kidnapping Inaba and holding her hostage in a warehouse and threatening to kill her with a knife, and coming out of nowhere to attack them and hit Taichi with a pipe. Like why would they commit these horrific crimes towards their fellow school classmates?

Those thugs left me really pissed off in the end. It ruined the OVA for me and was the worst aspect of it.

Inaba was the star of the show and is the character that makes the show good imo.
Glad the ending gave her justice.

This is unorganized analysis/yap:

I really loved Iori’s character, however, her development was only proven through her accepting that she once loved Taichi. Surely, this whole show is great (I’m heavily biased to Iori’s character because of relatability sorry), but the romance itself really pissed me off. In the beginning of the show, they really had me hyping up the pre-existing relationship with Iori and Taichi. What really angers me is that there basically was a confession, but it was brushed off because of another phenomena. Each character really developed in this show and portrayed it well, but again, I have to say that Iori disappointed me. Sure, maybe I should read the LN to understand more about her, but I’m not in the mood at all for that.

I understand that the revealing that “she was acting for others and not herself” meant that if she dated Taichi at the time it would be shallow and in-genuine. Idk this trope, but the trope where the hated and cold girl develops into something NORMAL ends up beating the girl who had been changing herself in order to obtain affection. To me, the desperation for love from Iori in the beginning was genuine. Therefore, them falling out of love makes even less sense. The show somewhat contradicts itself: Taichi and Iori would’ve been shallow, but both of their emotions were real? I feel like if they had just one, ONE conversation between the two with lots of thought, they would’ve easily realized that there was no need to claim that they fell out of love for each other.

In the end, I really loved this show (it’s going in my T20), however, all this show obviously needed was more time. It’s not that the pacing was bad itself, it’s just that there could’ve been way more things done for each character (not yui, she was developed enough well). This could’ve been a 3 season show easily if the author was more creative with the phenomena. Oh yea, I hate Inaba’s selfish character: an obviously selfish loner, who can’t respect her teacher and terrorizes a relationship once she’s properly socializing. Beautiful development and awareness from her, I just hate her regardless.

@Baffled-Anton

i mean: i loved the ending because i always thought that taichi and inaba were the better fit and i kinda liked inaba more as a character. im a tsundere sucker sorry xD.

and i also think that its understandable that taichi and iori didnt become a couple in the end.

i even didnt really care that the supernatural part was never explained in the slightest. i kinda was fine with that in that show, because i really liked the dynamics of the protagnists.

i mean, yes a lot of the issues were solved kinda shallow, but i still loved it :).

the only thing i need to criticize is iori:
i mean, i really didnt understand what was wrong with her in the end.

first shes all happy, then she is all down, then she is all happy, and then she is all down, and then she is all happy again.

i understood the initial problem, which kinda was solved a little too quick, but lets blame time here^^.
but i kinda never really understood what happened to her in the last arc and why she became just like before after that again.

i still loved the show. 9/10 for me, especialy because i thought they solved that love triangle perfectly in the end. i kinda dont like love triangles, but most of the time i hate seing one of the three unhappy in the end.

I have many thoughts about this show. For starters, I liked all of the characters. It was easy to see what archetypes they were and potential places they would go, so nothing really surprised me.

I feel like it would have been more interesting if they had each character be a little edgier to better explore their problems. For example, if it was more than an attempt for Yui. She could get confidence in the first arc and realize that it's false confidence against a weapon in the second, ultimately coming to terms with safety not being guaranteed in life. Even so, Yui's character was handled quite well. They attempted doing this with Nagase, but the writing dropped in quality unfortunately. Her last arc was severely forced and mishandled, but it was alright in the end.

The other three characters were criminally underexplored. We were never given a reason for Inaba's distrust or Taichi's selflessness, and Aoki didn't even really get a character flaw to explore. He just existed to play off the other characters. Taichi should've had the worst problems and been the focus of the final arc. It would've been a great opportunity to focus on Inaba's character and wrapped the love triangle up in a satisfying way. I thought they were hinting at this throughout the first two arcs and was quite disappointed.

The first two arcs were quite strong. The author definitely had enough insight to write them believably. The third arc felt like bad filler and a waste of time. The fourth arc felt like a poor rehashing of the second because the writer ran out of ideas. It would have been better to either merge those plot points into the second arc (to prioritize story flow at the risk of quality), or to rewrite them as an intertwined subplot paralleled with an Inaba subplot contributing to a Taichi A-plot. For example, Taichi keeps risksing his life and ends up in a coma. Nagase and Inaba transmit emotions with Taichi regularly. Eventually Nagase realizes she doesn't really love Taichi and Inaba becomes unable to deny her feelings. Ultimately Inaba makes a reciprocal sacrifice for Taichi to end the arc and save him.

10 for arcs 1 and 2, 6.5 overall

"Inaban has evolved into a dereban"💯🥳🥳

best girl won I couldn't be more happier, wishing inaba and taichi a healthy happy future togetherヽ(´▽`)/

This anime genuinely deserves a 2nd season considering there's still many volume of source material exist in LN. 8/10
