“Akari-chan. Ever since you came to Aqua my world had completely changed.
The ordinary days and the face of the world began to shine brilliantly.
Right… As if magic has been casted on them.
It calmly covers Aqua and spreads everywhere, warming, embracing all of Aqua like the infinite sky and sea.

I’m really glad I met you. Thank you, my Aquamarine. My Distant Blue.”

– Alicia Florence (Aria the Origination: Episode 13; Aria Manga: Volume 12, Navigation 58)

Alicia is no stranger to the implication and the deep meaning of the moniker she gave to Akari. Aquamarine, “that distant blue,” is the wonderful future that the Aria Company was founded for. Akino Ametsuchi (a.k.a Grandma, the greatest undine in the history of Aqua), founded Aria Company, believing in that distant blue President Aria carefully watched and strived for in the endless horizon of the sea...

Clannad and Aria are both life transforming master pieces. Not only do they penetrate one's heart, but also one's perspective.
After watching such great works closely, I believe almost anyone will have that catharsis - that burst of emotions carrying a realization of a very precious insight, an insight demonstrating the value of life.

I hope you enjoyed the article I wrote about Akari. =)

Yeah. I know the feeling. The anime (and manga) has some simple philosophies you could try to use to make your life a little better. I'd also recommend checking out Haibane Renmei.

Indeed, simple yet it seems to have this profound effect. Well, sometimes the simplest things are the most profound. =)

Yeah, Haibane Renmei is also a great anime that has a very calm and slow feel to it, but has very subtle insights that can be adopted in everyday life.

this blog was the first thing i read after completing aria, the line alicia gives akari when she promotes her to priima was one of the most powerful in an anime, and that blog breaks down why quite nicely.

i now consider aria to be the pinnacle of SOL anime hands down, no contest and up there as the equal best anime ive ever seen.

this is a series that i would watch even if they made 10 more seasons, and im sure im not the only one

I agree, Aria is one of the best Slice of Life Anime I've ever seen, (hell it is the best SOL anime for me!). It is not because it has some flashy story, or some exciting twist. The greatness of Aria's story/lore lies in its creativeness in presenting that "slice of life" in the terraformed Mars. And of course, the thing that made it a really really great anime, for me, is the transformative but subtle insights it carries. This insights are not conceptual puzzles or philosophical ramblings, but real life insight that can be applied in one's immediate and personal life.

Thus, I agree, I wouldn't mind watching 10 more seasons of Aria. haha. Rather, I'd be happy to.

By the way, thanks for reading my Blog.
