I really liked how Kaiji took down Funai, putting him in a situation where he'd be screwed either way but one way being more beneficial to both. And pretty much just forcing him to give up those stars. Kaiji isn't the type to cheat and lie but I would've been totally fine if he just cheated Funai, because as mentioned earlier, being betrayed is just being "stabbed in the back". So Kaiji could've lied and told Funai to play him with the "opponent choose card" rule, but then make all 3 cards paper while telling him its not. It'd be a great way to get back at Funai for lying to him earlier about spamming draws.

Episode 7 was a prelude to episode 8. Still, Kaiji has charisma and his henchmen are less annoying. You can see that the protagonist loves gambling because he loves risk. Knowing that there are 19 more episodes, the suspense is equally well done.
