My favorite Haibane is Reki, because she is a strong and brave person, who tryes to help another people. Inspite of her tragic story she keeps beeing kind.Besides she is a good informal leader.

And what about you? ^___^

Reki, mainly becuase her backstory reminds me of someone I knew in High School.
Also, her over all character of someone who is trying to make attends with the past by helping the future.

Reki. Not necessarily because of her behaviour and characteristics but more because of Yoshitoshi ABe's drawings of her, the artistic side. There are - in my opinion - some really awesome artworks of her (it's no coincidence I chose one of her pictures as my profile picture). Even though I pretty much like everything drawn by ABe, the artworks of Reki (especially the one used as the cover for the first soundtrack, Haneone) made me feel like this anime would be something special even before I did read or watch a single thing about it.

Reki. Definitely. She has something special. I cannot really define what it is. Just something.
And second best is hmm... Nemu or Kuu ^^

Woah, overwhelming Reki votes here.

Rakka's my choice, personally. I thought it was a brilliant move to make her the main character, and have her slowly reveal Reki's story through the series.

Rakka. She's cute and has a lovely style. I like the way she's exploring the city of Guu.

Reki (who has monopolised all the fans apparently!) was my absolute favourite, but of course all the girls were special in their own right.

It's hard to say exactly what it is. She was so strong yet very flawed. Something that began with her haibane birth and being sin-bound. Maybe its because her journey wasn't grand or heroic. Her story was about her own path, showing the inner workings of loss and guilt and eventual salvation.

Reki.
Her cast of mind about some things is familiar for me.
I think she was a brave choice from ABe since she is a kind of sinner - however not in the meaning of the usual and typical bad guys from other anime shows. A real person with real pain, she was a really alive character for me.

i say rakka was inevitably the best character because of her story, it didnt tell us exactly what happened but i believe it was more fun to guess and think on it than be told exactly when happened.

I still have a few more episodes to watch, but at the moment it's pretty much a tie between Rakka and Reki. I like the two of them and can relate to both in different ways, so it's kind of hard to pick just one.

EDIT: I just finished the series, though I can't say my opinion has changed much. I still like both of them about equally, though if I absolutely had to pick just one, I'd probably be leaning towards Reki.

I love Reki, she reminds me of myself, but she was saved and even after what happen to her she was always caring.

Defiantely Reki, because of all the characters I find her the most interesting. The others are ok, but Reki is the focus of the final episodes for a reason. The way her character is built up is excellent, too, because she moves from an ancillary character to equal with Rakka in a completely natural way.

Rakka, the series would not have been the same without her unique personality, it just makes you feel the confusion of arriving to a new life, a new world in all the extension
"The past will often attack the present with the pain of your memories."
"There is no wish that doesn't come true."
"The brain is a microcosm creating its own stories. People then live out these stories."
"Time does not exist. Only the illusion of memories exist."
"Existence does not rely on matter. Everything is phantom."
"The waking dream called the world is constantly changing. What's so sad about that?"
"Pure perfection has no past. That is how you live perfectly."
"How can you say you are a phantom?"

Its funny but I'm kind of partial to Khana. Don't have a really strong reason for it.

Nemu, without a doubt. Her attitude to the world around her would probably be the same as mine if I was a Haibane.

My favorite Haibane is Nemu, too. Because she is the most similar to me: she is so sleepy, she is very kind and loves books. And many other things I just can't say.

Hikari, because she is kindhearted and modest, but also very willful and somewhat impulsive. She is what I think of when I think of what a good haibane should be.

Kana and Nemu were my personal favs. When I first saw Kana from the small booklet that came with my DVD I thought she was male until I actually read her bio xD

I absolutely love all the Haibane!! My favorite two are definitely Rakka and Reki. I personally have more of an affinity towards Rakka, whereas my sister has more of an affinity towards Reki. So I call her Reki all the time, and she calls me Rakka all the time. I suppose, since Rakka is me, she's my favorite, and that's who I voted for.

Haibane Renmei is the most beautiful story I've ever come across in my life. I LOVE IT!!!

Rakka is my favorite because I adore her deep, caring, inquisitive, existential nature, but Nemu is a close second because I share her passion for sleep (I'm most happy in my dreams) and I like her laidback personality.

I totally agree. Rakka is probably my favorite too, and I liked her story as well.
