Trigun X is an animated movie based on the series Trigun. It is expected to be released in Japan in 2007. It is being produced by Madhouse, the same company that created the anime.

There is much speculation on whether it will be a sequel to the anime series or whether it will be an adaptation of the manga, kind of equivalent to the Hellsing OVAs. A sequel would have to leave out (or implausibly resurrect) the characters who were killed off in the series, and somehow work with the fact that the manga's main villain is defeated at the end of the anime. Neverless, fan speculation seems to be leaning more towards a sequel[citation needed], in part because only one movie/volume was ever announced and it seems highly unlikely that one movie can fit the whole Trigun story.

The October 2005 issue of the British anime magazine Neo includes an interview with the production studio Madhouse's founder, Masao Maruyama. In it he says the studio is working on a Trigun Movie that should be released in a "couple of years". The November issue of Anime Insider also confirms this news.

In May 2007 at A-Con Nightow confirmed the existence of the movie, and stated that they are finishing up the Pre-production part of the movie.

so what do you guys think?
will it be a sequel or a remake?
what are your expectations?
I'm soooo glad Madhouse is animating the movie! I think there can't go that much wrong!
The article says 2007, but I heard it wll 2008, 10 years after the series.
And though Trigun wasn't that popular in japan it's thanks to the US this movie is in production. That's pretty cool!
Well, I can't wait!

Been waiting for someone to mention this info.
I read it in Neo at a Barnes and Noble, but figured it was just a rumor when I didn't hear anything else.
So glad to hear it's true.
Heres to hoping it can stand to the original.

I heard about this movie and also heard a rumour about a Trigun Maximum tv series that would follow up on this movie. This would mean that the movie will correct the Trigun anime and return it to the storyline of the manga. The new tv series would then tell the story further... At least that's what i've heard...
I believe it'll take some more time before the movie will be released. I'd say 2008 maybe even 2009

Trigun will rule the world once more!! ...eventually...

That would be SWEET if they brought Wolfwood back. He was like the best in Trigun (aside from Vash).
If you rearrange the letters in Arthas Menethil, not only do you get Matthias Lehner, you also get Trash In A Helmet

Quit difficult, don't you think? At least he's kind of dead at the moment... But nevertheless you're right: he's the best aside from Vash! T^T I would love to see him again.

Trigun X is only expected to be aired in movie theaters somewhere in 2009. So, you still have to wait for it.

I heard recently that the movie will have an original storyline, although the only thing released about it is "Vash vs. Wolfwood". It was released on a cover wrap for the final volume of Trigun Maximum in Japan. It sounds pretty interesting. There's an article on anime news network about it, although the article doesn't say much else: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2008-02-27/animated-trigun-the-movie-planned-for-2009-in-japan

Hopefully there is much more plot that has not been revealed yet? I don't see how this can wrong with Nightow so involved in the proyect...

YET ANOTHER GOD DAMN COAT!!!

Jesus, how does Nightow do it?

Love the trailer though. Engrish is so funny. Also happy to see that the movies art style looks so much like Nightow's current, in regards to the original anime...

Numbuh 3, you've got to get off the couch, you cannot sit in that tree house, girl you like Rainbow Monkeys so grab your little shit and then swing!

Hand tracks be tracking me to different doorways. In a maze, and I don't know what to do. Guaranteed though, Ima find the emeralds.
