So why does everybody like or for whatever reason dislike Relena?

Ah, Relena. One of my first anime and one of my first favorite characters. I loved Relena because even though she was rich, she had a level head and is probably one of the most strong willed characters I've ever seen in any anime.

Good points.
I think she had one of the best character developments I've ever seen in an Anime before.

I like Relena because she's strong, and sticks to her gun's so to speak with no pun intended. She has continued to be my favorite because she is the strongest female character I have ever come across. Most of the people who I encounter who dislike her seem to be fan girls who are mad that she is paired with Heero instead of Heero being in some yaoi pairing.

I cannot say like or dislike. Relena's pacifist ideals are wishful thinking, but I support the idea. (^_^)

I like. At first, I did dislike(she was hypocritical at first) but later she was pretty good. I support her pacifist ideas, though I don't think they're realistic to be honest.

Relena started out as a spoiled brat longing for attention but as the series continued she became a strong willed character who fought for what she believed in to the bitter end. I guess thats what I've always liked about her ^.^

I like Relena's appearance and personnality. She is one of the most beautiful animated girls I have ever seen. She has the eyes of some famous Hollywood actress from the olden days when movies and TV was still in black and white. Her personnality is very similar to that of Heero Yuy (also one of my favourite characters), especially when she takes a gun and shoots the rose on Lady Une - that was badass!

I liked her for her character development throughout the entire series.

Relena would serve as the basis for Dianna (Turn A), Lacus and Cagalli (SEED/Destiny), and Marina (00).

I understand why many people hate relena its not very difficult to see. I've been a Gundam Wing fan ever since it aired on toonami and as a young boy even I found her to be annoying, she was just one of those girls who had cooties. You could tell she had cooties because she kept on yelling incomprihensible things and talking to herself like a psycho.

Then I grew slightly older, I got over my cooties allegation and so my feelings towards her became less hateful, fine she's very clearly enamoured by Heero (even though strangely enough he's doing the very thing her all important teachings are against). This was the stage when the political implications of the plot became clearer to me and I didn't simply watch the show to see the coolest giant robots ever animated committing acts of mass carnage, I began to appreciate the plot. I was in love with the restored sanc kingdom and I expected rilena to do something about it, oh no wait she's decided she's going to let the sanc kingdom fall, she even accepted romafellars invitation and denied zechs was her brother - just to make peace - then romafellar began their campaign regardless and she found herself highly underprepared. Her Kingdom fell because of her own foolishness, and her own stubborn nature, I think that incident alone proved that she was an UNFIT LEADER. Funnily enough she now agrees to be used as Romafellars Pawn to promote the world nation - she joins the people who massacred her country twice in a row (surely if she had any pride she would have rather died). So once again my hate for relena grows, I see her as an indecisive idiot responsble for the deaths of many.

Transporting ourselves to the present day my take on relena has changed once again. For starters having read episode zero her "little prince" comment seems less psycho as I know the story behind it. By this point I have also seen the series multiple times in English Japanese and French and the political implications of the plot become clearer as I've grown up and begun studying law at university. Rilena did make a mistake when she chose to trust Romafellar and perhaps being used as their puppet afterwards was a folly but we have to remember she's only young, I'm only 20 now but I know I made lots of mistakes back then, she corrected her wrongs by backing noins defence force when asked and also abdicating when Trieze decided to take the reins. I am left with mixed feelings towards Rilena, I see her as a child unfit to rule but ended up doing so because she was the only one who could succeed the monarchy of her newly restored kingdom, her love for heero was because, (although their methods were differently) they both desired peace more than anybody else.

Most Importantly I love Gundam Wing - so even if I deride the characters on occasion its only because they're complex enough to be evaluated in such a way. Wing in my opinion is a masterpiece among masterpieces, no other gundam series can live up to it, sometimes I am dismayed when people dismiss it because it is part of the Gundam Franchise.

When I look at Relena now, I see she has been through the roller coaster of life and has gone through quite a lot for a girl her age. As with any young person, she tries to find her place in the world and makes mistakes along the way. Relena is the diamond-in-the-rough kind of character and she begins to shine in Endless Waltz as she has developed quite well from the way she was in the beginning of the series. I actually came to respect her more in Endless Waltz as she grew into a mature and admirable young woman.

Relena is mainly hated on just because of Heero x Duo fangirl-ism, which I find unreasonable. I love the relationship she has with Heero, the two of them have a special bond that is of trust and respect and the two of them compliment each other very well and they care for each other very much.

My feelings exactly, Gundam Wing has one amazing storyline and the most complex characters of all the Gundam series, I facepalm myself when people say bad things about Wing.

The first time I met Relena (via Gundam Wing) it was love at first. I know in that instant that she's gonna be my best female anime character ever. To others, she can be annoying at first because of how she asks desperately (?) for Heero's attention but it turned out to me that she was the greatest character in the whole series in terms of character development. I like how she transformed her self from a needy lady to a woman of strong will and intellect. She's a QUEEN after all and she deserves respect!!! Relena and Heero are meant to be together and no yaoi pairing can tear them apart. Their love story is your fairy tale anime version. Huhuhuhuhu..now I'm missing them so much!!! Heeroooo!! Relena!! Watashi wa anata wo eien ni aishimasu!!!
