Yes. its the same with clannad. but like with all the movies. they are done by another studio, so the art and animation is different and so are the dubbing because the artists are different.

i didn't understan , u mean i don't have to watch the series before the movie in air and calannad right? i can only watch the movies and i will pass ..

You can but the movies are like the series but abbreviated.

So you don't get the characters developing as much.

i would suggest watching the serie's.
i watched the clannad movie and well alltough it wasn't bad A LOT of story was left out
