| This is without a doubt the best single volume manga I've ever read. Abe Yoshitoshi's mind is incredible. The art was breathtaking, not just in it's detail but in the way perspective was used, in the way it shifted between foggy and unclear to dark and atmospheric or even plain and sketchy when the atmosphere of the scene called for it. The way everything circled back and how each of the 4 stories were intertwined despite being separate on the surface had such great execution. Terms like "Empty" and explanations about memories and reality from the earlier chapters allowed the later ones to flow using the same established premises while continuing to expand on them which was fantastic. Where's the chef's kiss emoji when you need it. Aside from all of that the story itself was amazing too. I just loved everything about this. |
