| A bead of sweat travels down Codys forehead. He picks up the knife and hands in to Cyn as he goes to follow Alexi. While walking he writes on his clipboard. (Captain Report: Strong, Leader, Brave, flirty.) |
| Cyn looks away as Brink hands him the knife. He walks further into the tent and starts giving out instructions to the crew. -----Time Lapse----- Alexi and Brink stand in front of the stone carved archway leading into the town of Ebon. Two guards stand at each end of the gate. They wield steel spears and are clad in navy blue steel armor. They each nod in unison as Alexi and Brink walk past. The streets inside are paved with stone. Shops line the streets and stall vendors fight to gain the attention of passerbys. There are several armories and smitheries on the street and several other can be spotted further in town. |
| Brink smiles. "Well this is rather industrious, why be afraid?" He whispers in her ear. |
| She raises an eyebrow. "Well, I guess they don't use guns yet here..." She goes up on her toes to see over the crowds in the street. "I guess we should look around." -- From behind a building, in the shadows, a man watches them. |
| Brink looks around in aw. "They must not be technologically advanced. This place should be easy to get to know." He gets serious suddenly. |
| "At least they are able to mine for minerals here. The last planet we went to was--" Something shiny catches her eye. (OOOO! Treasure! Wait, think this through.) She looks to Brink. "What's up?" - The man in the shadows continues to stare at them, moving to the next alley when they move. |
| "I sense a presence." He looks around almost paranoid looking through every store and in every corner he can. |
| Alexi laughs. "You're paranoid. There's tons of people here. Of course you 'sense a presence' ya idiot." |
| He glares. "An unsafe presence. Maybe we should watch our backs. This might be an illusion." |
| Alexi runs her hand over her face. "I didn't know you were so superstitious..." Her gaze lands on a large domed building. "Well, at any rate, let's go. We should do what we came to do and go." (Before I end up taking something I shouldn't...) |
| "Very well." He nods and walks towards the building with Alexi. (This place just isn't right) |
| Alexi looks at every stall they pass as they walk to the domed building. (There's so much stuff! Look at all the gold!) She turns her attention back to the building, taking in the architecture. The dome itself seems to be plated in gold and the rest of the building is white marble. Each column is carved and painted with different images of what appear to be the gods and goddesses of the people here. The pictures one the left row of columns is mirrored in the row of columns to the right. Gems are placed in for each of the eyes on the figures. The rest of the building is carved and painted in much the same way, with various gemstones embedded in the marble. "That's some impressive architecture." she says admiringly. |
| (Is she Rayne now?? :p) "Yes, it's very surprising due to the fact that there are a lot of poor people working these vendors. Maybe they are rather technologically advanced but not enough for space crafting quite yet." He looks at her eying the building every so carefully. He smiles at her excitement and continues looking on. |
| She stares at the gems in the side of the building. "Wonder how much it would be worth..." Alexi mumbles to herself. They now stand in front of the large open-air entrance hall. A man walks over to them then. He bows slightly and Alexi returns the gesture. "Hello," he says in a husky voice. "Welcome to The Arch. The name's Zaine Maddox." |
| "I am Cody Brink a respected member of The Kavardian base." He bows politely. "This is Captain Alvaro, my.......companion." |
| Zaine looks at him inquisitively. "The Kavardian base huh? Where's that?" Alexi glares at Brink for a moment then turns back to Zaine. "Would excuse us for just one second?" "Sure. Don't mind me." He walks to the pillars and selects one to lean against. Alexi looks at Brink. "You idiot. This guy isn't our contact here. He's a freaking local to this planet! Don't go around saying stuff like that!" Zaine glances around the crowd, but his eyes keep returning to the two. (The Kavardian Base? What the hell is that? ... ... Are they from Isty? No. There's no place in Isty with that name...) His eyes fall upon the scanner and communication device in Alexi's back pocket. (That is definitely not from around here!) |
| "I am obligated to introduce myself we are here on a file mission not to go hiding secrets. Plus it's not like we are invading and stealing everything. A true Kavardian wouldn't put it's base at risk by doing stupid things." He looks into her eyes seriously, almost reassuring."This place is very historical, it reminds me of the old testaments of a world that was so green with little technology to spare. However, as minds grew so did the technology and it eventually died." He pauses. "I feel these people need to know of us for sake of food, water, shelter. It is after all a mountainous and dry region." |
| "That may be true, but," She pauses, her anger from before gone. "we cannot alter this planet's history or future no matter what we believe. It's their planet to live and gorw and die on, not ours." Another pause. "Now don't say anything else that might jepordize our mission here." She turns away from him and motions for Zaine to come over. |
| Brink only sighs feeling that though he is official he is being bossed around by a chauffeur. He watches Zaine come over. He stands there helplessly.(How dare she speak to an officer like that. No matter, as soon as we get back to head quarts I will put her in confinement for a bit. There is something strange about this place, and this flirty and rough captain.) |
| Zaine greets them. "So...it's your first time here right?" "Yeah. We're kind of looking for somebody. Perhaps you can help us?" "Alright. Let me see what I can do." "Well, his name is Sparrow. He's probably a blacksmith around-" "You're talking about the Sparrow!? Well you're in luck lady! I happen to know the guy. Come on, follow me. I'll take you to his forge." (I have to get that thing from her pocket. I need to know what it is and how it works!) |
| Brink lags behind looking around the town while walking. |
| The come upon a home that appears to have sunken into the ground. Two chimneys spews black smoke into the air, and the sound of metal hitting metal rhymically chimes from inside. Zaine walks down the stairs and pulls back the cloth motioning for them to go inside. Inside is a large forge being worked by an even larger man. He works on a sword glowing orange on the anvil. He looks up and sees the company, hits the weapon twice more with the hammer, then puts it in a barrel of water, the steam rising and filling the room with warmth. His wire-hair ash-filled beard reachs down to his chest, his hands appear to have survived several burns and knicks. "Where have you been Zaine?" The mans voice rumbles like thunder in the sky. It is deep yet clear. "You've been needed here. I just got a large order and-" "I apologize, but these people are here to see you." Zaine steps aside so he can see them. |
| Brink doesn't even bother making introductions. He lets Alexi proceed. |
| Sparrow looks them over then says, "Zaine, would you mind going to the back and chopping some more wood for the fires?" Zaine looks at him then at Alexi and Brink. "Fine." he says resignedly. After he walks out Sparrow seems to relax. "Gotta watch that one." He focuses on Alexithen switches to Brink. "Well, hello then. You must be Cody Brink. I've heard about you from the higher ups. And you must be..." Alexi steps forward. "I'm Alexi Alvaro, captain of the Aurora. We're here to retrieve a file." "Oh ho! Haven't seen you in a long time! Why, last time I saw you, you were only," he motions with his hands. "This big. How's the old man doing?" Alexi looks away from him and focuses her gaze on the pommel of sword in the rack. The gem is blue. "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't know. Please forgive me." He rests a hand on her shoulder and she nods. "Well, I just gotta go grab it from the ship. Come on, it's out back." He leads out to the back of the house. |
| The ship lies behind the house in an array of trees. With its cloak on, it is invisible. "Stay here a moment while I head on in." Sparrow says as he dissappears into his ship. - Zaine slowly creeps up behind them. (Just gotta snag it out of her pocket...) |
| Cody looks behind him slightly and smirks. "Well little boy are you pretending to be a pick pocket or is it that everyone here is?" He grabs his hand swiftly and holds it without struggle. "Technology isn't a toy. And curiousity killed the cat, remember?" He looks into his eyes sternly. |
| Zaine laughs nervously. "Yea..." (Damn it! I'm no good at stealing anyway...) "I just wanted a look..." He looks down at the ground as a child would do when he gets caught. Alexi looks at Zaine angrily. (The little perve! Was he trying to grab my ass!?) "Why don't you go back to chopping wood like a good little boy?" Zaine shoots her an angry look, then leaves mumbling. |
| Cody looks at her furiously. "And how about you watch your back,.....idiot..." He rolls his eyes and scoffs off. |
| "For your information, everything I have with me is attched to me. It can't fall out of my pocket or be stolen." Alexi says obviously annoyed and angry. |
| "Oh well if it wasn't stealing,your so full of yourself Captain, you think he was trying to get a feel hmm? Maybe if you weren't such jail bait. Your employer will hear of your arrogance and non-orderly speech with an official of the E.I.B." |
| "Alright smartass. I've had just about enough of you! Why, I have a mind to--" "Now, now," Sparrow said as he came out of his ship. "I'm sure this can be resolved peacefully and without such thoughts or language." He hands Alexi the report. |
| Brink smiles at her being interupted. "That settles it!" He walks away smuggly. |
| Alexi takes the report, silently fuming. "Thanks." "You got yourself another one huh?" Sparrow says in a low undertone. "What happened to the last one? What was his name? Frecheeno? Frapino?" Alexi rolls her eyes. "It was Fripeeno. And he's..." She makes a slashing motion across her neck. Sparrow looks at her incredulously. "What? It's not like I had anything to do with it..." "Hey, whatever. I don't need to know. Now get outta her would ya? I got work to do." He messes her hair. "Safe travels chickadee." Alexi smiles and nods. She turns and catches up with Brink. |
| (Get out of her?? Wow Alexi you slut xD) Brink still is walking confidently away. He however, does bother to look behind him and glance into her eyes still smiling. |
| (wow. I did not even notice that typo. whoops.) "So stud," Alexi starts, now cheery. "Unless you have anymore business here, we should head back to camp. Can't leave those boys alone too long before they start causing trouble." |
| "Ohh, does that mean I can see you be demanding and shit. That's new." He smirks unstoppably while teasing her. He nudges into her jokingly and then goes back to being serious. (Funny ass typo xD) |
| (Yea that is a pretty awesome typo!) "Yea that's right." She smiles at his teasing and punches him lightly on the arm. "You'll get to see me demanding and shit." She sighs. "But seriously, I hope they didn't screw anything up. With Cyn in charge..." |
| "You already made a mistake..." He pauses. "You PUT Cyn in charge." He laughs lightly. "I'm sure things will be fine. If not, you can handle it." |
| She laughs, then becomes serious. "Yea" Then more quietly, "I hope you're right." (I'm going to kill them if they touched it.) Zaine comes out from around a corner then. "Whoa! You guys are leaving so soon? Why not stay awhile? Ya know, relax, take a load off, see the sights?" |
| "Why so you can steal our technology AND our valuable time? I don't think so." He pushes past him fiercely and slightly angry. |
| Alexi follows. Zaine appears appalled. "You think I would steal your tech?" He runs in front of Alexi to stop her. "Yes." she says matter-of-factually and walks around him. "Well I'm hurt." He keeps right up with them. "I would never do that." "What the hell were you trying to do before then?" "I just wanted to look. Besides, the Flaps here have always said there was no such technology in the whole of the universe. I knew they were wrong." |
| He stops. "You saw it is that enough? What do you want a grand tour? This is dangerous knowledge for a outsider." |
| "Outsider?" Zaine pauses, then his face turns to one of sheer joy. "I knew it!" He exclaims. "I knew you guys weren't from around here! You're not even from Phanaphos!" He sighs. "I knew it," he says a little less loudly. "and no I didn't really get to see it. I don't really know what it looks like or what it does for that matter." "It doesn't matter. Look, Zaine, you can't have a look at it or see what it does." Alexi says sternly. "You knowing that much would change your world to too great an extent." "Well, that's an easy fix. I can know and still not change anything." Alexi shook her head. "You might hide it from others, but one day it'll get out that you have the tech. Go back to your life here and be a blacksmith or whatever you want to be." "I want to be an adventurer, not a blacksmith. I want to see what's out there. If you won't show me, then I'll just have to come with you." Zaine stands defiantly in front of them with his arms crossed, waiting for their reply. |
| (This feels like a Disney movie xD) "Zane." He says seriously. "You might think of us as "aliens" however to us, you are. How is it you are not afraid of the thought of worlds so different that you can't even imagine? How is it you can be so intrigued by something you don't even understand?" He puts a hand on his shoulder and sighs "Here, everything is simple...Keep it that way." |
| (Lol. Disney.) Zaine shrugs him off. "Because I've seen them before. Well, only one, and I was little, but still." He pauses. "Please let me come with you! I won't get in your--" Alexi scoffs at him. "You've been to another world. Ha! I highly doubt that. What was the name of the planet then? Surely you would remember." "Ha to you because it was Kavda. Or maybe Kravdar. Or something like Ka-- It started with a 'K' of that I'm sure." |
| "Kavarda. Why would you be so "special" as to be there at such a young age AND if that has happened then why should we be convinved you are safe to be around? For all we know your over educated and dangerous. Even an Kavardian experiment." |
| "How am I supposed to know! All I remember is some buildings, two people I think were my parents, a bunch of fire on the trees and grass and stuff and darkness and then...nothing. For a while at least. Until Sparrow found me." "One moment." Alexi said holding up her index finger. She pulled Brink aside. "How would he know about Kavarda? The planet has been destroyed for almost a century now. It's a freaking space station!" |
| "I believe he is Kavardian..." he puts a finger to his chin. "He seems to be referring to the planets eruption. He can't possibly be that old though. He must be of a different species. But he seems so normal. Maybe it's a good idea to take him. For questioning and study? He can be a test subject. Maybe this planet is full of history afterall." He waits for her to give her piece eagerly. |
| "Ugh. Don't say test subject. It just sounds so wrong. But yes, I agree with you. Though, as far as questioning goes, I don't think he'll be able to remember much by the sounds of it." She turns back to Zaine. "If you really do want to come, you're going to need to be tested." "Tested?" Zaine looks at her eagerly. "In what? I'll pass anything you throw my way!" "You'll see when we get back to our camp... Cyn's going to love this!" Alexi laughs at the thought. |
| Brink whispers quietly to her. "Maybe going back will remind him." He looks at Zaine. "Be prepared." He walks off and laughs quietly to himself about Cyns future anger. |
