"Da, da, da, da, da, da, da,,,,,,,hmmmm.......hmmmm," a soft voice whispered underneath her breathe in melodic tone. Soft footsteps danced and echoed across an alleyway, filled with corpses at either side. The corpses were illuminated by the moonlight. It was night time, most certainly past midnight. Yet enough light shown through the alley from the plaza to make it at least somewhat visible.

"I know you stay true when my world is false
Everything around's breaking down my chaos
I always see you when my sight is lost
Everything around's breaking down my chaos"

The footsteps halted briefly, then took up the pace of walking as the figure sang gently. It had rained earlier, making each footstep splash a slight bit of water as they treaded across small pools of blood mixed with water. To the naked eye, no one could discern who was the figure making its way through the alley. As she drew closer to the town's square, the only remaining light post being a lamp, illuminated a female like figured. The image was faint and looked more like an aura, or an outline of a human figure.

"Is it truly that easy to simply throw one's own life away," she thought as she reached the town's plaza. A dilapidated circle of stone and crumbled buildings surrounded a corroded clock-tower. The tower itself was the only standing structure left in the entire town. At its highest point on the balcony, stood a human man, distraught and overwhelmed with grief. Under the light of the only lamp post, the figure was more visible, bearing a black cloak. She pulled back the hood, revealing a long strand of silver hair, extending down her face to cover her right eye. Under the cloak she wore a white dress, although the design was hard to tell. Her skin only pale looking was actually really light, but to many she would definitely look like a ghost.

She focused her attention upward. Staring at the man as he stood on the railing of the balcony, while supporting himself by holding on to one of the pillar's of the tower. "Is this another one of his doings? I'm amazed at what a little chaos can do to a society," she continued thinking to herself. "But I envy you. She extended her hand upward, and the man trembled in fear. No he could not see her, but his time was drawing closer. It was now or never, and the now came a lot sooner when his head smashed against the crumbled stone floor next to the woman. A pool of blood slowly formed around his upper body as she began to survey him.

She whispered to herself softly, "Human behavior is a remarkable thing. It does not cease to amaze me that in such an instant a human can decide to end their life. Shut themselves permanently away from reality, no, from the truth. I envy you, unlike you humans, we spirits don't readily have that option available to us. Poor soul, your heart was heavy with guilt before you leaping. May you rest in peace or fall into oblivion when you face judgement."

Her hand lowered down, then she pulled the cloak over her head. She looked at the corpse of the man whom just finished committing suicide. He was the only remaining person alive in what looked to be a massacre. The night was silent, deadly silent and no longer a place she wished to be. Onward, she set foot towards another destination her soul was drawn to.

“Isn’t it so beautiful?”

The voice came from within the shadows of an alley way where a small figure walked out he looked to be around the age of 16. With the boys appearance he didn’t seem to suit the location that was now bathed in the peoples blood his pure white clothes did not have a mark on them at all neither did his body which was weird in itself with the size of him he should have been one of the first people to have been killed.

Within a few seconds of appearing from the alley way the boy began to move across the open area towards the town plaza yet he did not step but seemed to glide across the floor almost floating through the air itself. The way the boy moved was not that of a normal human or a human at all yet he looked perfectly normal perhaps that was the strangest part about him other that the boy smiled as he glided past the fresh corpses on the floor until reaching closer to the last man that was alive.

“Hoho so he won in the end?”

The boy watched the man as he jumped to his death he couldn’t help but spin around in enjoyment yes he could no longer contain the joy that he felt as he watched the chaos unfold before his very eyes it was like a delicacy to the boy and he couldn’t get enough of it. It was rare for chaos to effect such a large area and by now it was clear to anybody that was alive that the boy was a spirit and more than likely not a friendly spirit but one that enjoyed the feeling of chaos yes it was perhaps clear he was a spirit of chaos or one that would be around death a lot.

“Amazing....amazing ....amazing!”

The boy spoke or shouted exactly what he thought while laughing and spinning around on the spot he was surrounded by corpses and blood and he loved every minute of it and not once had her thought of the pain the people had gone through or perhaps he had and that was what he enjoyed the most. As his spinning came to a stop he looked over towards the woman her clothes were dark much darker than his own and she didn’t seem to enjoy the feeling as much as he did either...but she was defiantly a spirit like himself and that was rare he never really got to see other spirits.

another spirit of chaos or something else...death...misfortune...

Dante was quickly running through the different possibilities of spirits that the woman could be most of them were ones that people probably didn’t want to meet for wherever there was a spirit of misfortune or chaos death would soon follow or at least Dante had found that to be the case in the years he had been a spirit.

With a deep sigh, the woman stopped walking once she heard the joyous shouting from the far off distance. A pulse of energy sprang from underneath her. It felt much like a short burst of wind spreading around her. Her eyes slowly widened when she turned around and saw the boy.

"Oh,.....it is you....chaos...." She spoke softly as her gaze returned to normal. An almost gloomy stare as she studied him.

"You're probably wondering who I am, and what I am doing here standing amongst a pile of corpses. The answer of course is simple enough. Just like you, I am also a spirit. Isis, the spirit of tragedy is the name I have been given," she responded.

Dante smiled and nodded slightly as he seemed to calm down considerably while listening to the girl his long white cloak had fallen back down to the sides of his body as it slightly blew with the small gusts of winds that filled the empty town. Upon hearing the girls’ name Dante had bowed in a respective way it was hard to say if he was serious or not with him being a chaos spirit but despite that he still held respect for others.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you Isis-chan...you can call me Dante if you like”

With the introduction over Dante stood back up and began to make his way over to Isis the biggest difference between Dante and Isis apart from one being a girl and the other a boy was the looks on their faces. Dante was quite happy to be in a place filled with chaos and this could be seen by the bright look filled with life on his face.

“Why do you look so sad...this place is filled by tragedy is it not?”

"Without a doubt, this town has been plagued by a devastating tragedy. My task is to bear witness to such events as they unfold. That man standing there in a pool of his own blood is a testament to how far this town has been driven by chaos."

Her words grew stern as she continued to express herself. She looked defensive as well when the boy began to approach her. She responded by backing away from him slowly. Apprehensive, she raised her arms with her palms in front of her, signaling him to stop.

"I shall have nothing to do with you!" She shouted. "Look at all of this around us. Is this what this world is meant for? To be the playground of the gods? Utterly ridiculous if you ask me."

Her arms lowered after her speech, and she seemed to have calmed down as she began to stared at Dante. Soon a grin crossed her face. It seemed innocent at first, but it quickly turned maniacal in an instant.

"You are a young spirit aren't you?" she asked abruptly.

Dante took note of the girls’ defensive approach and stopped moving towards her instead he backed away a few steps to create some distance between them both he didn’t know what he had done but he had offended her or upset her in some way.

“You will have nothing to do with me because you hold me responsible for the chaos and tragedy that befalls the creatures of the world?”

Unlike the girls voice Dante’s held a much calmer and softer tone there was not the slightest hint of anger. Instead the body that the girl spoke about had begun to move along the floor ever so slightly but it was still moving and Isis could probably see the body twitching slightly.

“Let me ask you this then do you have the will to stop the chaos in this world...if so then destroy every living creature on this world and then you will be free from your chains.”

His soft voice had grown in strength it held more power as he grew more serious indeed his voice was full of confidence in what he was talking about and now he was looking directly at Isis. For all the seriousness in his voice he face still had the kind caring look on his face if one was to look at him the last thing they would see was a spirit of chaos but perhaps that was his most dangerous quality.

“Yes I’m a young spirit or at least young compared to some...then again I’m older compared to others”

She disappeared from sight momentarily, later reappearing behind Dante. Her back slowly leaning into his. Her smile had slowly faded, but to him it was unnoticeable. Despite the difference in her age, Isis being much older than Dante but refusing to admit it, she treated him as an equal. She was perhaps "too" comfortable around him. She let out another sigh as she seemed to be collecting herself before she spoke.

"These hands don't have the will to destroy every living creature in the world. Set myself free? Don't kid me, our bondage to our tasks cannot be broken. In my case, I have ensure nothing interferes when tragedy rears its ugly head."

She leaned forward, letting go of the weight against Dante, then joined him side by side as they monitored the twitching body. There was a sense of comfort she felt when she was next to him. Like his happiness seemed to have brough some solace to her. Yet she reminded herself once more the reality of the world around her as she continued to focus on the now dead body. Her head hung low in disappointment.

"That man's fate has been sealed. He chose to die, and I cannot intefere with his choice. Can I ask you one last thing Dante? Will we ever be freed of our obligations as spirits?"

Dante let out a small sigh while smiling as he could feel her back against his it was nice to him to see and meet another spirit similar to himself yet their views differed greatly it seemed or perhaps it was because she had been doing it for much longer. For a moment Dante seemed to relax as he closed his eyes and for that brief second he forgot he was standing in the middle of a massacre.

“A spirit of tragedy that hates her task...what could one do to be given such hell I wonder...”

Dante’s voice was sincere and held a small hint of sadness for Iris yet the hint of sadness soon seemed to disappear as he didn’t want her to assume he felt sorry or looked down on her. With her moving away from his back and standing by his side Dante opened his eyes again to look down at the twitching body it had become an all too familiar sight to him.

“Perhaps we will be freed from our fate when death comes for us like it is for this man here...although I’m not ready to die just yet”

Dante smiled towards the end of what he was saying while also still looking down at the man’s body, at the same time he was thinking and wondering which of the races that he had seen was the most fortunate. Was he perhaps jealous of the other races and the freedom they had but then again he loved his task so that couldn’t be the reason but seeing Iris had cause such thoughts to come forth from deep within himself.

“maybe your looking at your task the wrong way if you think about it your the last thing the people say before their fate...a simple smile from you could provide them with their last bit of happiness.”

"Perhaps in death I will be able to find my happiness, eh...Little Dante," she playfully retorted at his reaction. Her head slightly lifted enough so that most of her hair was no longer covering her face, but sailed to the sides of her face. She closed her eyes then clasped her hands together whilst illuminated by the streetlight. The light made her image seem heavenly because of its glow.

"Rest your weary head my dear, for all tragedy has ends sooner or later," she spoke the words softly.

Her hands escaped the clasp before her eyes slowly opened back up. Her mood seem to have elevated as if she had let go of a grand weight on her shoulder. She began to pull the hood of her cloak over her head as she turned to face Dante one more time.

"Perhaps we will meet again Little Dante, and then maybe my point of view will change. However, I feel that I can somehow trust you despite what your true intentions are. I'll be sure to be on the lookout for you....Little Dante," she ended with a tender smile, the only thing visible under the darkness of her hood covering her face.
