| Please share your tidbits and tricks to baking!! :) Ill put them in the main post so we have a collection. 1. Always cut 5min off the baking time (as long as the center isn't completely raw). When you take something out of the oven it continues to bake on itself. If you take it out to late it can be dry. Just like with Meat :) 2. You can always cover up a cake with mini chocolate chips! if the side of the cake isn't as spectacularly perfect as you want, stick chocolate chips on the side :) The frosting that is there will hold them on, and you get some lovely texture. One thing I learned is that frosting is always forgiving, and can be covered by anything. |

| Would you believe I use a hair drier on my specialty cake? I like to melt a chocolate coating on my cake. I just mix together some bitter sweet and semi sweet chocolate (with a tad of German chocolate) over a double boiler with a bit of oil to thin it out. I then pour it over a finished cake, and when it hardens, I use a hair dryer to smooth out the rough points. I'm Actually going to make it this weekend. I'll take pictures! |
