| "Yeah well..." Zaine fumbles in his speach. "Alright! Alright!" Alexi stands in front of him looking the same as always. He expected her to look triumphant or something. "I'm..." He sighed. "I don't like water. Not in large quantities anyway..." He was trying to look anywhere but at her or Cyn. Alexi giggled. "Don't worry about it Zaine. Everyone's scared of something." |
| Alan twitches a little and turns to her side. |
| Zaine catches the twitch. (Poor Alan. I wonder if she chose her role, or if she was chosen for it...) Cyn glances at over his shoulder at Alan, then turns his attention back out the window. Alexi moves and sits on the end of another bed. She takes off her bag and pouch and starts to rummage through them, looking for something. |
| Zaine turns his attention to his amulet, turning it over and taking in every detail as he has done so many times. Alexi removes a small flat piece of metal form her bag. She taps it twice and it opens, revealing a green-colored screen and keyboard. She puts on a small earpiece and taps it. The earpiece creates a small moving circle around it and a screen in front of her right eye. She starts typing on the keyboard silently. |
| Alan wakes up after a few short moments and bats her eyes trying to clear away the fog. "Where, am I?" she looks up silently at the ceiling. |
| Alexi keeps typing on her keyboard. Cyn continues to look out the window, now with a slight smile on his face. Zaine looks up at her, surprised she's up. "We're at some hotel-type place." Zaine says. "That guy told us we could bring you here to rest while we waited for you to wake up." |
| Alan sits up and nods. "I understand." She gets up and looks out the window towards the temple. "I suppose Sadka told you everything." |
| Cyn nods. "He told us what the Saiin is. What being one means." He continues to look out the window. |
| She looks down to her bare feet in sadness. "I see.." |
| Cyn puts a hand one her shoulder. "Hey. It's alright." Zaine walks over. "Yeah. We understand." Cyn smiles to Zaine. "On the bright side, we learned something interesting..." |
| "What's that?" She smiles because she loves learning. |
| Zaine glares at him. (I hate you Cyn) "Well," Cyn continues. "Zaine here is afraid of water." |
| Alan turns to him. "But you can't! What would the goddess say!? You will see. It can't harm you! I will teach you to swim!" she looks him in the eyes with worry and tears. |
| Zaine holds up his hands in defense. "There's no way I'm going near any water. It's fine when it's in a cup or a bowl or when it's rain, but lakes and oceans--nuh uh. That ain't happening for me." |
| Alan grabs his hands and holds them softly. "Please try, for me." She looks in his eyes yet again with a concerned expression. "Let me heal you with the gentle liquid that will be absorbed in your skin. It will saturate you in health. It will surround you in immunity. I will help you, tonight." |
| Zaine takes a few steps back from her, both surprised at her and scared at the idea of being in water again. "No." He shakes her hands off. "No," he says a bit more forcefully. "It's not happening. I'm not going anywhere near water." |
| Alan nods slowly taking in his decision. "I understand, Zaine." she sighs. |
| "I'm not going near water." Zaine says a little softer. Alexi glares at Cyn, then continues typing. Cyn turns his attention back out the window. "Ya know Zaine," Cyn says in a flat tone. "Water isn't that bad." Zaine gives him a hate-filled look, expecting to get made fun of. "Afterall," Cyn continues. "Most every being in the galaxy requires it to keep on living." Zaine looks to his pendant. (Gods, he's trying to be nice to me. I think I liked him better when he was being a jerk...) |
| Alan sits on the bed and relaxes her shoulders. "You don't have to convince him Cyn, it's fine." |
| Cyn ignores her. "Besides, there may be a time when you have to swim, especially considering the places we go." "Yeah, well..." Zaine says. "I guess I'll just stay on the ship when that happens." "What if an enemy finds out about it and uses it against you?" Cyn had turned around now and walked in front of Zaine. "What if we crash into an ocean? It's happened before." Alexi nods at the thought. Cyn continues. "This is a skill you'll need." "What do you know!?" Zaine says angrily. "There's no way--" "Oh yeah, there is a way." Cyn says deviously. "But you won't like it. Let Alan help you. If I have to do this my way, you're not going to like it." |

| Alan stands up again. "Now boys, It's okay, you don't need to argue." |
| Zaine walks towards him until he's right in Cyn's face. "I don't need your help Cyn." he says in a devilish voice. Cyn gives him a light shove. "You best stay out of my face Zaine." Zaine pushes him right back. "Or what?" Cyn comes up to him again. "I don't think I've ever met a man who's been this afriad to face his fears." The next sentence is full of disgust. "You're pathetic." Zaine meets his gaze. "Fine. I'll prove you wrong." Without taking his gaze away from Cyn, but in a nicer tone, he says "Alan, will you help me?" |
| Alan perks up from the dark mood in the room. "Of course! Shall we?" She gives out her hand for him to grab so she can lead him back to the temple. |
| Zaine takes her hand and lets her lead him away. Cyn stands in the middle of the room, arms across his chest, looking triumphant. Alexi, who had put everything away by now, walks up to Cyn. "Hey." He turns to her, just in time to see her fist slam into his face, knocking him down. "Ow!" He rubs his cheek. "What the hell was that for!?" "Don't play dumb!" Alexi almost yells. "You know what that was for! Don't ever do something like that again Cyn." "Geez." He gets up cautiously. "Sorry, but it needed to be done." Alexi flings her arms up in frustration. "This is why you're a pain in my ass! You don't think about how your actions affect people. You never do. Not even when it mattered most." "Hey, that time was different." "You're an idiot." Alexi sits back down on the bed. "Stop bothering Zaine. Especially about the water thing." "But I had a reason. I wanted to get a closer look at this." He holds up Zaine's pendant. |
| Alan leads him away happily. "I promise you will be just fine!" |
| Zaine looks at her, unreasured. "If you say so..." --- Alexi stands up. "Cyn!" Cyn waves Zaine's pendant back and forth. "What? It needed to be done." "Do you know how much that means to him?" "Yes." Cyn says flatly. "Then go give it back to him!" "No." Cyn holds the pendant in the palm of his hand. "I just want to get a closer look at it. I'll give it back after that." He flips it over, inspecting the other side. "Don't break it." |
| Alan leads him into the room where they were before. It is lit dimly and no one appears to be around. "If you would like you may start lightly with your feet." |
| Zaine stands away from the water. "Uh..." To him, the water looks much deeper than it actually is. "About that..." --- Alexi sits back down on the bed, watching Cyn tinker with Zaine's pendant. Cyn turns the pendant over and over, inspecting it. He lays it flat on his palm. He taps the star on top. "What are you doing?" Alexi's question breaks his train of thought. "I think this is more than a simple piece of jewelry." "Yeah?" Cyn turns it over and taps the other side. "I've seen something like this before; in the museum on Kavarda. Remember?" Alexi shakes her head. "I haven't been there in a while Cyn." |
| Alan giggles lightly. "It isn't deep, it only goes to your waist." She sits along the side and dips her feet in lightly." It's a tad cold but you get use to it. Try it." |
| Zaine inches forward until he's at the water's edge. He lays down flat on his stomach and sticks his index finger tentatively into the water, then immediately pulls it out as if burned. He sighs. "I don't think I can do this..." |
| Alan quickly grabs hold of his hands and looks him dead in the eyes with her purple ones that sparkle. "You. Can. Do. This. Zaine." She looks up into the temple ceiling. "She gives you strength and power. She gives you hope. But it all resides in facing your fear and what you fear is the life she gives us here. The water she brings. The life source and energy we strive on. If you can conquer this. You can conquer anything." She wets her hand and lightly runs her wet fingers across his forehead and down his cheeks. |
| "You talk about water as if it's alive." Zaine says. He runs his hand through the water. "Besides, this isn't bad; for water. I'm more afraid of the ocean." |
| Alan runs her fingers throught his hair, saturating it. "Water is life here, however ocean isn't ocean. At least not salt. Once again, all water here is pure for Ea and for us. Otherwise we wouldn't be able to create worlds or breath. You have nothing to fear in Halloin." |
| Zaine inwardly rolls his eyes. "Yeah. I doubt it." He pauses. "Hey, can I tell you something?" |
| "Anything, Zaine." She smiles as she continues to run her fingers with water on him to make him comfortable. |
| "Well," Zaine starts. "I don't remember much from when I was little. But around the time I was twelve, I was playing near the edge of my town. The town's on a cliff that overlooks the sea. I wasn't paying attention like I should have been...I fell over the edge and into the water..." He sucks in a breath. "I was never taught to swim. Why would I need it in my field of work?" He laughs a bit. "I went under. Everything was blue. Light filtered down on me as I sank farther...I tried but I couldn't get up to the surface!" He looks into her eyes. "I couldn't breathe. I felt like the water was crushing me. I was terrified!" He looks back to the water. "Everything went dark. When I woke up, I was in Sparrow's house." He shook his head, as if doing so might make the memory go away. |
| Alan nods in understanding. "I am sorry to hear of your experience. I would teach you if you would like. Because right now, it would be the best thing." She slips into the water slowly and grabs his hands as she stands there. "You feel her healing you even when half-way in her waters. Zaine you must let me help you. No memories or fears should steer you away from these calm waters. If you trust me, come with me into these waters and embrace me. We shall absorb the water of our lives and trade bravery. Ea will look down on us and rain many drops of reasurrance." |
| Zaine looks from her to the water and back. "I don't know..." He gets up off the floor. "I don't know how you can be so calm. I'm not sure I can do that..." |
| She takes a deep breath. "Don't doubt your capabilities. I know you can do it with patience and concentration. Just put one foot infront of the other and let the water embrace your body, everywhere." She wets her body in the water by pouring it over her. |
| Zaine stares at her as she does so, then remembers where he is. "Alright...I suppose going in a little won't hurt..." He removes his sword, and belt that hold his pouches. He takes a few tentative steps in, but stops once the water reaches his knees. |
| "See that isn't so bad now is it?" She smiles as she takes her top off casually and faces toward the altar in the middle chanting. "Ea we come to you bare with our fears out, we pray your can heal them with your glory and love. Please show both me and Zaine how our fears can be cleaned away." |
| Zaine stands there in a daze. (She just took off her shirt....like it was the most casual thing ever...gods....) |
| She stands with head raised and arms to her sides. She seems to be praying silently. |
| Zaine stands there, wondering what to do. He edges farther in to the water, until it's at his waist. (I don't think I can go any farther...Besides, she's...) His starts to turn red as he thinks about it. |
| She turns back around astonished. "Wow! Your in the water! I am so proud of you! I knew my prayers would be answered for you." She hugs him tightly. |
| Zaine's face turns even redder as he realizes what is happening. "Y-Yeah. Yay for me." (Holy crap, holy crap, holy crap, holy crap! I can't believe this is happening to me...) |
| She giggles and looks at him. "Oh my your face is so red, are you ill?" She looks at him concerned. |
| Zaine has a sudden interest in the cieling. "No, no. I'm fine. Promise." (Gods, is every Halloin chick like this?) |
| "Good, you had me worried." She looks up with him. "The temple is beautiful hm?" (Why is he being so anti-social? Have I offended him?) |
| Zaine now has an interest in the walls. "This is a beautiful place. Nothing like it exists on Phanaphos. At least not in Yasty." (Don't look down Zaine. Control yourself...) |
