After gathering together, Alexi, Alan, and the rest of the crew are now floating in space, heading back towards Kavarda.

Brink looks around as the ship is floating. "Are we going the right way...?"

Alexi looks at the navigation map. "Yeah." She fiddles with a hand device. "We should get there in a few hours if we can keep this pace up." Cyn walks into the command room. "I don't know about that. The damage from when Alan decided to use my ship as a brake for hers hasn't been fully repaired yet."

Alan frowns. "I said I was sorry. Maybe you should have parked better."

Cyn keeps a monotonous tone, but his eyes betray his anger. "And maybe you shouldn't have been the pilot in the first place."

Alan looks at him furiously and without thinking tackles him to the ground. "I AM A WOMAN PILOT AND IF YOU HAVE A F****** PROBLEM WITH THAT I WILL F*** YOU UP YOU LITTLE S****!!!!"

Alexi just watches on, awe struck. Cyn pins Alan. "That's exactly why you crashed. Because you're a woman." There is venom in his voice. "Woman can't run a ship properly, let alone fly it."

Alan looks at him in more awe that Alexi. "How can you say that when your Captain is a female!? Who, by the way, you want to be stuck to like sap on a tree!" Brink just sighs. "This is pathetic."

Alexi stares at Cyn, silently fuming, waiting to see what he'll say. (You better have a good reason you little sh*t or I'm going to kick your ass) Cyn faces shows no emotion. "Alexi is the best damned female pilot I've seen. Unlike some people who can't even land a ship properly! That's one of the most basic things you learn!" Alexi nods in agreement with Brink. "This isn't the first time this has happened. Though, this is the first time the woman's ever tackled him."

Alan flips over quick and pins him down in return. "Good thing for you then, I won't have to pilot much longer. I won't have to get in your way! But let me tell you something, I became a pilot in less than a week. I had to for my under cover assignment! It wasn't my fault I didn't have "STATE OF THE ART" lessons. And if being a woman has something to do with that, than your arrogance, jealousy, stupidity, and lack to think before you speak or act must be caused by your massive ere***** you have for Alexi!" She spits on him as if he is trash and heads towards the door. "I HOPE YOU CRASH AND BURN, CYN!" She leaves the room in a furious manner.

Cyn gets up and follows her shouting, "Hey, DON"T YOU WALK AWAY FROM ME!! WE"RE NOT DONE YET!!" Alexi just stands there, shaking her head, a hand over her face. "I don't believe this." she says in a sad tone.

Brink looks to Alexi. "I am sorry.." He walks over to Cyn. "If the ship crashes, I blame you, Cyn."

Cyn turns to whirl on him, but Alexi slaps him hard across the face, leaving him dumbstruck. "Go check on the engines and maintain them like you're supposed to be doing right now." Alexi says harshly. She turns to Brink. "If this ship crashes, as Captain, it's no one's fault but mine." She returns to the command room.

Alexi slams her fist down on the console, causing it to beep. "Damnit!" She runs a hand through her hair. The ship lurches forward then, as it gets closer to a planet shrouded in black mist. "What the hell?" She pushes some controls and brings up a map. (Where'd this planet come from? It's not on any of my maps...) The ship lurches forward again as it gets caught in the planet's atmosphere. "Crap!" Alexi tries her best to pilot the ship out, but to no avail. She pushes a button and the intercom comes on. "Attention all crew members, prepare for emergency landing!" The Aurora falls fast, passing by large mountains and vast land, until finally crash landing in a field of bones and flames.

As the Aurora enters the atmosphere of the uncharted world, the jagged peaks of mountains, and sharp lines of rivers give the land definition. The land looks dead on most areas, with only a few areas being lush and covered in green. The ship crashes into the planet's crust, causing a cloud of soil and rock to flare up around it. The crew is tossed around as if they were rag dolls. When the dust clears, Alexi gathers everyone and takes roll call, finding only two of the crew dead, and only twelve with injuries. - Alexi watches as Cyn stares at the ship with such a sadness that she feels like crying. "I'm going to take a party with me to look around the area. The rest of you will stay here. Set up a perimeter. Treat the wounded and gather up any materials you can salvage." She picks up her pack, which is filled with supplies, then walks over to Cyn. "In my absence Cyn will be the commanding officer here. I trust there are no objections." Without pausing for the crew's input, she continues. "Brink, Zaine, and Alan will come with me. When I come back, this ship better be space-worthy again." The crew salute their Captain. "Yes ma'am!"

The four set off into the small forest that surrounds the crash site. The plant people that are shown have not yet shown themselves... ![]() "What is this forest?" Alexi says. "The air is heavy, and smells weird." "It must be these plants." Zaine says. "Most of them are giving off some kind of gas. I guess if it was poisonous we'd be screwed." Alexi smiles wryly. "That's a great thought. Death by plant. Thanks." Zaine shrugs. "It could happen. On Phanaphos there is a species of plant that releases a toxic gas when it sense prey near it." "Again, thanks for the thought." Alexi says.

The jungle-like atmosphere continues to stretch before Brink and Alexi as they continue to traverse farther into the unknown. The air becomes hot and humid; almost physically oppressive. Alexi places her palm on a tree, wiping sweat from her brow. "It's been awhile now, and this jungle doesn't seem to end." --- Zaine and Alan are encountering a similarly oppressive atmosphere, the only exception being that the air seems to be rapidly getting dryer. "It almost seems so dry to be a jungle..." Zaine says. "More like a desert with lots of trees."

Alexi looks around at the foliage. The trees' leaves seem to be made of rubber, and touching them confirms they feel like it. The rich green spills down onto the jungle floor wherever sunlight cannot break through. The jungle doesn't seem to end. "Hey," Alexi says exasperated. "Let's find a place to take a break." She walks onward, feeling as if she's swaying. --- "Here Alan," Zaine says as he hands her the waterskin. "Have some water. Don't gulp it down though." Though the atmosphere is oppressive with its heat, Zaine is only coated in a light veil of sweat; just enough to make him look shiny. As the two continue walking, the trees thin and then suddenly give way to open land. Zaine whistles in awe. A huge desert stretches out before them. "Sorry Alan, but I don't think we'll have any cool winds for a while. If you need a break, we can stop here."

As they walk, following what Alexi hopes are game trails, the two start to see more and more large green pods, about waist high and bulbous, growing out of the ground. "What do you think is in those pods Brink?" Alexi asks in a low undertone. ---- "Right," Zaine says. "Then I guess I need a break." He looks out to the desolate landscape again, imagining what it once looked like. "How do you think the others are doing? I hope they haven't run into any trouble." (Nice message bro. In the center of the clearing is one massive pod, almost as big as the Aurora. --- "Yeah," Zaine nods his head in agreement. | The ground rumbles underneath Alexi and Brink as they near the largest of the pods. "Is this an earthquake?" Alexi says in surprise, trying hard to keep her balance. Just as she falls to the ground, the smaller pods open, revealing what lay inside. Large flowers come out of the pods, in brilliant shades of red and blue. Alexi watches as a small pod next to her opens, its flower a light blue. Wait, Alexi thinks to herself. That's not a flower... What she thought was a flower is really the 'hair' of a person; The things in the pods all have humanoid appearances, but Alexi can't tell if they have legs, since they would be concealed within the pods if they had them. --- Zaine stands up. | The earthquake subsides to a mild rumbling under their feet as Brink and Alexi stand by the pods. Some of the humanoid plants stretch as if they were in the pods for a long time, but all have turned to face Alexi and Brink. Many talk amongst themselves in a language Alexi has never heard. The pod closest to them houses a bright green female humanoid. What would be her hair is made of pastel orange flower petals. She tries to speak to Alexi and Brink, her voice similar to rustling leaves, but her language is a foreign one. Alexi fumbles with her translator at her ear but shakes her head. "I'm sorry. I don't understand you." ---- Zaine looks out at the desert. "I've grown up next to desert my whole life Alan. I think I can maneuver without getting lost. C'mon, let's go!" |

The female plant pod watches the two talk amongst themselves. She turns to the largest pod, which did not open, and speaks to it. The giant pod shakes back and forth creating a rumbling sound, making Alexi think its inhabitant is laughing. --- Zaine and Alan head out into the desert. The ground lays cracked in spots and covered by sand in others. | Alexi watches the plants around them cautiously. Most of the inhabitants of the pods have turned toward them, curious about the creatures who entered their glen. All of the smallest pods, which Alexi presumes to be children, have excited looks and wonder on their faces. The largest pod rumbles and the female pod that tried talking to them glows a light blue. She nods to the large pod, then turns back towards Alexi and Brink. "You are strange." The words sound forced, and she seems to be trying hard to speak them. "We have not seen your kind before." Alexi looks at the girl, then back to the large pod, both of them casting a gentle blue glow on the surrounding landscape. "You know other languages?" The girl nods, then points to the large pod. "I do. I am the matriarch of this clan. I am boring this young one to speak with you." ---- Zaine laughs. "I've never actually lived in a desert. I lived in the mountains back home. But there was a desert right outside the mountains. It was a bit of a shock to the body, the mountains being cold and the desert hot. I went hunting there mostly; for game and herbs." He shakes his head, remembering his home planet. "No one else ever wanted to be caught in the desert." |

"We understand. From your view, we seem like nuisances." Alexi shakes her head. "No, no. I've just never talked to a...plant before." She stands up straighter, now that the rumbling has stopped. "Please forgive him if he has offended you." The girl shakes her head. "The male has not upset us with his words. All is well." --- Zaine looks at her, wondering how much to tell. "Well, it wasn't the really the animals that were the most dangerous thing in the desert back home. It was the gases and pitfalls. The heat could make you see things, and you'd end up walking around for hours without getting anywhere; you could end up falling through one of the crevices that scarred the desert floor from the war or inhale some of the toxic gases from the steam geysers. A lot of people died out there." He looks skyward as they walk, remembering his own experiences. "The creatures out there are either huge or small enough to fit in the palm of you hand. All of them are cautious and tended to be aggressive. Just trying to find them was a pain, and then you had to take them down and drag them back to town." Zaine shakes his head. "I was better off metalsmithing, but there was no money in it for me since Sparrow would keep whatever I earned from it." |

We are an ancient race that have cultivated this planet since its birth." "Why are you not speaking to us directly?" Alexi asks, curious. "I am old." Thandiel says simply. "I have little strength left to bloom, thus my borrowing of Nariel." ----- "Yeah," Zaine says. "I know why he keep the money." He looks at Alan, watching her walk next to him. "I was burden on him. I know that. Sparrow never had any kids of his own, but he took me in when he found me on the streets. There is a danger here; one we have not seen. It came from the sky, much like you did on your metal bird. You must leave this place before that danger finds you. The other fauna are not as tame as we are." "What kind of danger?" Alexi asks. She leans in towards Alexi. "A darkness follows you child. If you do not face it, it will consume you."Alexi stares at her, perplexed. Thandiel/Nariel looks at Brink. "You must do what you can. When the time comes, you shall have to make a choice; do not make it without thought." Nariel stops glowing and slumps over momentarily. She straightens back up, looking at the strangers in front of her. Her voice is different now, back to her own. "Mother has left me the knowledge to speak with you. I will try to answer your questions, but do not stay long here." ---- "I know he did." Zaine says, a smile lifting the corners of his mouth. "I love him too.
