Nodame Cantabile question

Well, I am watching this series and am currently on episode 14 of first season. Don't get me wrong right now I love this series and it is very entertaining, but I feel there is something missing. What i think is missing is the romance.

Does the romance(as of where I am at) progress later on in the series and even in the other two seasons? Please no spoilers.
