| Yeah the flashbacks with Conti were a bit of a mess, but I liked how they sort of paralleled his and Magoichi's deaths in their fight, in the end their 'ghosts' got the better of them. Cliche but decent showdown with Roman and Perrybot. I'm with Rodac, a solid 7 because I found it enjoyable and I was able to care about the characters so the serious parts meant more. Not bad for a low budget 12 episoder that nobody really cared about. |

| At last! I'm giving it 8 for the enjoyment and serious part overall. Agree with this episode not being so high expectation but I'm quite satisfied with it. I'm sure I'll miss this anime though... :( |

| Wow. That really jumped the shark, didn't it? It was a fairly enjoyable series until the last couple of episodes. Oh, well. At least Roman gets the hot girl, and manages to save his sister too. |

| Very mediocre anime. I had no connection to any of the characters, and the bad guys were laughable at best. The last fights this episode made no sense and how the hell did okuni and assassin-cop dude manage to make it to the ship and appear at the exact time and place they were needed? Is it implied at the end that Roman's dad is alive? That scene made no sense either. All in all, I regret watching this anime. I didn't find it funny or particularly interesting. Should've dropped it when I dropped cuticle detective... |

| Mm pretty weak series in general imo. Oh, I originally thought I'd get some of the vibes from Lupin III but otherwise, this series wasn't for me. Maybe it's because the setting and some of the characters presented. I guess some of the story and that one filler episode in the middle of the series screwed it up. Otherwise, 5/10 on this. |

| Finally got around to finishing it. I came close to dropping it, but I kept on going. Here's my final verdict: I think it had an okay start that left a pretty good first impression after finishing the first episode. And for me everything else fell apart. The ridiculous power ranger-like armor, the weapons, and other miscellaneous stuff didn't make total sense in the grand scheme of things; they were pitching this as a historical, Robin-hood esque show and then suddenly people are able to transform into various things. If, in the first place, they actually had this stuff right off the bat, I think I would have been alright with it. The story isn't too complicated, though it isn't well-written either. Half of it honestly didn't make sense and some of it was left unresolved or not explained very well. Probably the only part in the story that was at least coherent was Also, these pointless flashbacks that didn't really contribute to the plot altogether. If it's for making you sympathize with the antagonists, then it was poorly executed. Not to mention the Gijinden Roman characters were either dull or just plain annoying. Some of the voice acting actually is pretty bad, IMO, which obviously didn't help. Overall, this show is mediocre as fuck. Mostly boring; I really had to force myself to finish the damn thing. It really felt like Gijinden Roman had a big identity crisis of what it was trying to be. Is it a historical adventure? Sentai-esque? Hell, I don't fucking know. And neither did the show, as far as I'm concerned. I'm rating it a 5/10; extremely disappointing, because I was pretty excited about this show. At least it had pretty decent production values and good character designs from Monkey Punch, though I feel like I'm being generous with the score I gave it. |
