Yeah, I did. Will stick it out for a few more episodes to see if anime plays up the friendship more, but probably won't stay around when they get boyfriends unless the comedy is top tier.

Please google the real meaning of shoujo ai before talking about it.

Watching it right now and have to say that I got the feeling it was Shoujo ai. Even though I already heard in a different thread that they get boyfriends I still wouldn't have minded if it had been Shoujo ai.
To be honest I might even drop it depending on how it'll develop in the next episodes since I can't picture this as a "normal" romance anime

There is no Shoujo Ai anymore (at least in Japan, unless you want to talk about pedophilia crime). It is now called Yuri.
So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.

Oh. That was quite the spoiler. You'd think you could put it under a spoiler tag or some shit. Well, that's just dandy.

And yeah, I thought it would. Yuru Yuri version 2 and all that. Of course they'd grow out of it, but I'd like to find out by myself rather than 5 words after the word "SPOILER".

Episode one I thought it was, I wasn't really sure if I'd keep watching because of that, then I read it wasn't and now I kind of wish it was.. Such conflicting emotions. I'll still keep watching it though. :D

Yeah I don't think that makes sense either. lol

But why? I think it's just more chances for humor later on down the road if/when the girls actually try out all this stuff Riko's obviously pulling out of nowhere to teach them.

Hell yes, the chemistry between Natsuo and Riko is one of the best I've seen as far as female pairings go and it isn't like the yuri genre is overflowing with good shows that have tight writing, well developed characters, and zero sexual/romantic intercourse with males. Romance and comedy entries are abundant as it is, and with the premise of the show, this could have been one of the best yuri series.

Sorry, I am being picky here, but maybe this will be interesting to a few people.
Anyways, there is a fairly standard definition of the word "yuri". You can find a
very good explanation here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yuri_%28genre%29
It is worthwhile to read that whole article carefully.

Technically, Love Lab is not a yuri anime series.

However, it is correct to say that "Love Lab contains Yuri as an additional element."

There have not been any yuri anime series since late 2009. Back then they had
Aoi Hana[1] and Sasameki Koto[2]. Both series bombed. There had been a huge
yuri trend that started in 2004 with Maria-sama ga Miteru[3]. I guess trends come
and go.

If you want to see an actual yuri anime series, Sakura Trick[4] was announced
in mid-June. I don't know when it will be aired. It looks like the long yuri anime
drought will soon be over.

It could be worse. The show could had only teasing yuri scenes (no kiss included) or only having pointless over the top fanservice and in the end they wouldn't even become a couple. I like shoujo ai genre (as long as the couple isn't seen as object rather then potraying their love to be something special) but even if it's not that kind of genre, it wouldn't stop me from watching it. I just like how it potrays girls fantasies of what love is and pokes fun of clieches.

I've only seen episode 1 so far and I have to say, Riko and Maki have great interaction. I generally don't care if it's gay or straight, I just want characters to end up in a relation that feels right. And RikoxMaki feels right, it's hard to imagine them with anyone else. But hey, only one episode in.

I just completed ep. 13. And I had to think out the shoujo-ai. Maki x Riko: that would be SO sweet.

Honestly, it's pretty sad that we can never have a yuri series as good as this would be if it was one. MFW

I hate noting more then when they build a great setting for shoujo-AI and then trow it all the window and girls end up geting BFs. The instant I heard this show is going to be one of those I delated it from my HDD.

How about before trying to corect someone you look up if what you are saying is correct and don't make a fool out of youself. Yuri is erotism between girls, Shoujo-AI is romance between girls.
The real world is past the virtual world is future.

I want a yurified version of Love Lab. I enjoyed it as it is but it has everything to become a good yuri anime.

Erm, a lot of non-Japanese people mistakenly use shoujo-ai for romance between girls (I did too). Heck it was officially the substitute of soft yuri in the west a couple of years back. But now it has been corrected. So instead of 'shoujo ai' you should use 'soft yuri' in your conversations so as not to be misunderstood.
To make it clear, japanese take/mean 'shoujo ai' as 'girls lover' - not 'girls love' (there is a huge difference). And 'yuri' for all kind of romance between girls (from soft core to hard core) <<< correct me if I am wrong in the above interpretation.
So you should use 'soft yuri' when you don't mean hardcore.
