| Alexi hugs her back. "Thanks Alan." She holds out some clothes. "Now how's abut you try some things on!" -- "What are you making?" Zaine asks Cyn as he adds more pieces to what is slowly becoming a frame. "It's going to be a ship when I'm done," Cyn says. "You have to make the basic design first, mold one out to see how it looks, and then you can build it!" "You want to build more? What about the Aurora?" "She is my greatest work thus far, but I have to keep improving all the time if I want to keep y title." "You have a title?" Zaine says, impressed. "Wish I had one..." "You could probably earn one with your smithing skill, even though the technology you use is outdated. There are people who like the outdated ways." |
| "What do you suggest?" Alan asks as her goofy smile returns to her face. |
| Alexi holds up a few shirts and pants together to see how she likes them, shakes her head at some, then nods to a pair and hands them to Alan. The shirt is a flowing dark navy blue with white accents, and the pants are a simple silky black. "Try this for me. It's simple and the pants are form fitting, so they should look really good on you. The shirt is flowy like water and soft so it should be pretty comfy..." Alexi says. She searches for more clothes as Alan puts those on. -- "I see," Zaine says. "Do you think I could learn some new ways to craft?" "Depends on what you want to craft," Cyn says as he continues to work on the model ship. "It could take a long time to learn the tech if you don't have any previous knowledge of it." "But I want to try. I think I can do it." "Well, if you're really sure, I can take you to some metal works around town and see if you can handle it." "Really?" "Yeah, sure." Cyn snaps the final piece onto the model and sets it on the desk, satisfied with its completion. "I have to go see some of those guys anyway, so you can tag along." |
| Alan slips off her clothes, folds them neatly, and puts them on the floor. As she puts on the new clothes she falls in love with the fabric. "This is like water. So smooth and cool. Perfect for a hot day. Thank you, friend." Alan smiles as she spins around. |
| "Looks good on you too," Alexi says as she looks through the racks for something else. -- "That'd be nice," Zaine says. "I want to see more of this planet." "There's not much to see here," Cyn replies, now playing with the model ship. "Just the usual things that can be found in practically any city on any planet that has the tech for it." "Yeah, but my planet didn't have the tech for it." "But your home planet did. Kavarda was once the most advanced planet in the galaxy. Now it's not quite as advanced but it's still a leader." |
| "I'll go downstairs and get more of that juice!" Alan giggles and she walks down the stairs. She grabs the pitcher and looks into the living room. "Zaine??" |
| ( Heh heh heh Alan...He's not there anymore.) Alexi nods as Alan leaves the room, putting a shirt back on the rack at the same time. She looks through some more clothes before moving back into the room and sitting on the bed. -- "I guess so," Zaine replies doubtful. "I can't imagine something more advanced than the technology I've seen here." "Oh you should see it!" Cyn enthuses. "It's unbelievable what they had back in the day. The original Kavardans were amazingly advanced. I bet, if we went to the museum in the Tower, you might remember something." Zaine chuckles. "I doubt that, but I guess it would be interesting to see some of it." "Who knows, you might even know what some of it is." "You mean no one knows about it?" "Nope. People have tried over the years, but no one seems to be able to make any of it do anything." |
| "Hmm.." Alan shrugs and walks back up the stairs. "The boys are gone." |
| "They're probably in Cyn's room across the hall," Alexi says. "We've got a long day ahead of us; shall we go to sleep? You'll want to be in prime condition for questioning." --- "That's weird," Zaine says. "You'd think somebody would have figured it out by now." "It's not that easy to do," Cyn replies. "What if the things are dangerous?" "Won't know until you figure it out." "That kind of attitude could get you killed." "This kind of attitude makes life way more fun!" Zaine exclaims. |
| "Gee, is it really that intense?" Alan shivers a little bit, nervous. |
| Alexi shrugs. "It can be. The commander, Finnick, is a tough old guy but he's really nice. The other people on the council can be rather annoying, but really all that matters is that you answer their questions honestly and as best you can." -- "Sure," Cyn says sarcastically. "Worst case scenario we just set off a device that carries some crazy deadly disease in it or blows up to whole station." "You're really negative, you know that?" Zaine says. "What if they do something cool like make food or protect the world?" "I highly doubt that." Cyn thinks a second. "Alright then Zaine, let's make a bet then." "Oh?" "If the devices can be activated and they aren't harmful, then I'll owe you," Cyn says, "But if they do anything otherwise, you owe me." "Hmm. Sounds interesting," Zaine replies. "Alright, you're on!" |
| (Oh, this bet is going to end badly o.o LOL) "Hmm, okay." Alan says as she slips into a yawn. "Goodnight!" Alan curls up on the floor with the pitcher in her arms. Only a few moments and she is fast asleep. |
| Alexi watches in amazement how fast it takes Alan to fall asleep. (That has to be some kind of skill...) She grabs a blanket and covers Alan with it before nestling into her blankets on the bed. She stares at the empty ceiling for a half hour, thinking about the events of the past few week, before falling asleep. -- "You sure you wanna make this bet with me?" Cyn asks Zaine, holding out his hand to shake. "I was going to ask you the same thing," Zaine replies, shaking Cyn's hand. "Well then," Cyn says, "It's getting late, so we should hit the hay. Don't want to tired for tomorrow." "Alright then. Mind if I borrow a blanket?" "Sure," Cyn says handing him one. "Going for the couch?" "Yup. 'Night Cyn. And don't think you're going to win this bet!" Zaine says as he heads back downstairs. "Yeah right," Cyn says as he flops down on his mattress. |
| (Lol, boys. Lol Alexi, I got mad skill.) Le next day Brink pounds on Alexi's door. "Wake up, kiddies!" -- Alan lays cuddling with the empty pitcher. |
| Cyn continues to sit at the kitchen table and drink some coffee while looking at his holopad. "You better go get that," he says without looking up. Alexi, who was cleaning up the counter, walks to the front door and opens it. "You know, you can knock like a normal person and I still would have answered the door." -- Zaine sits in the living room, now awake and at attention from Brink's knocking. |
| "Well, this is kind of important. No time for dilly-dally." Brink assures as he grabs Cyn's holopad. "So, where is Alan..?" |
| "Hey!" Cyn says. "I was using that!" "Calm down Cyn," Alexi says. "She's upstairs still sleeping I think. Zaine on the couch in the living room. There's no need to rush; the meeting isn't for a few hours now." |
| Brink pauses. "It's protocol, she needs to be briefed." He pushes up his sun glasses and throws the holopad into Cyn's chest. "Abbott!" Abbott walks into the room skittishly. "H-Hello." |
| Cyn catches it with a disgusted look on his face. "Watch it!" "Maybe you should see somebody about getting that stick out of your ass," Alexi says sweetly. Zaine scopes out the kitchen from the doorway, not sure whether he wants to go in or not. |
| "Maybe you should get that mouth checked, princess, seems to be a lot coming out, but not enough going in." Brink smiles back at her. Alan stands next to Zaine in the doorway. "Well that's not very nice.." She rubs her sleepy eyes. |
| Cyn smiles. "Alexi, that's always been there. Can't fix it either." Zaine shrugs. "That's just how he is," he says forcing back a chuckle. "Good," Alexi says ignoring the lot of them, "You're up. Eat this, then get ready to head out." She hands Alan a plate of hotcakes and a cup of tea and nudges her towards the table. "We've got a long day ahead of us." |
| "Okay!" Alan says cheerfully as she begins to stuff her face. Brink sits down at the table. "Abbott..coffee." Jackson quickly grabs a thermal mug out from his bag and gives it to him. |
| Cyn watches Jackson with disgust. "Hey," Zaine says, "got any more food?" "Sure," Alexi says prepping another plate for Zaine. |
| Jackson stands back a little embarrassed from Cyn's glance. Brink sips from his mug and looks at Alan. "I hope you are prepared." Alan looks at him with her usual goofy smile. "All I have to do is talk, silly." |
| "You're going to have to do more than just talk," Alexi says as she finishes prepping a plate for Zaine and hands him his share. "There you go, some nice pancakes to get you ready for the day." "You're kind of like a mom you know that?" Zaine says as he sits down at the table. "Like a mother hen," Cyn says sarcastically. "Yeah yeah," Alexi says sitting down herself and sipping at her tea. |
| "What else do I have to do, Mother hen...?" Alan asks her in her derpy way. "I'll be there to assist you with the technical stuff. You have to give a formal report." Brink points to Alexi. "Captain, you've been in front of the board enough, teach her." He continues to sip his coffee and steals one of Zaine's pancakes. |
| "Hey!" Zaine says, hovering over his remaining pancakes to protect them. "Children," Alexi says in warning. "If you want some I can make more. And don't say it like that, it makes it sound like I get in trouble a lot." "Well," Cyn starts but is cut off by Alexi look. "Alan," she says, taking off her apron and leaning against the counter, "You have to show them some proof too. Explain everything as you go and show them what your people are capable of. They won't even consider this project unless they believe that it is even remotely possible." |
| "So I have to show them my power?" Alan pauses to think. Brink nods. "The people of Kavarda are very stuck in their ways. It's the only way to show them that a plan of this immensity can happen." |
| "And even then," Cyn says, "they'll still be skeptical." "First we have to convince him this will work, "Alexi says with slight disgust. "Then we convince everyone else." |
| (54 minutes before me, are you shitting me!? I'm always a few minutes late!) "Who is him? That sure is a weird name." Alan says obliviously. Brink shakes his head. (After a few weeks with her you'd think she'd catch on.) |
| (Yeah, that's how I roll. :P ) Cyn chuckles. "She's talking about the guy in charge of Kavarda. His name's Finnick. He's..." Cyn waves his hand as if searching for a word, "sort of...difficult? Yeah. He's difficult to deal with." |
| (Haha, you suck :p) "Oh, I see. I think I can do this." Alan reassures her friends and herself. "You'd better do more than think." Brink pushes up his sunglasses. |
| "So just because he's difficult," Zaine says with a mouthful of pancake, "you don't like him?" "Don't eat with your mouth full," Alexi says. "Finnick and Alexi's father were friends since they were little kids," Cyn explains. "They grew up together until they each went their separate ways; but he's been a part of both our lives since we were little too. He's like an uncle to us." Zaine swallows another mouthful before asking, "But if that's true, then why doesn't she like him?" "Because they're like oil and water," Cyn says simply. |

| "You have no idea," Cyn chuckles to himself. "I get along fine with him." "Yeah," Alexi says with obvious detest, "you two are real chummy together." |
| "We have come to a mutual respect. Cyn is my friend now, right?" Alan smiles and turns to him excitedly. |
| "You mean I wasn't your friend before?" Cyn says dramatically, pretending to be hurt. "Oh my heart!" Alexi rolls her eyes and says under her breath, "I think it's your brain that's damaged." Zaine laughs at Alexi's comment and then finishes off his food. |
| Alan takes a deep breathe. "I think I'm ready, everyone!" She smiles nervously. Brink nods and chucks his coffee into Jackson's chest. "I'll be in the car." Jackson tries to wipe the coffee off his shirt. |
| Alexi hands Jackson a rag, then gathers the dishes. "Alright!" Cyn says, standing. "Let's go see the Council of Seven!" Alexi sets the dishes in the sink, and grabs her bag off the counter. "Let's go guys." |
| "Much thanks, Captain." Jackson nods as he walks out the door. Alan stands up. "Oh wait!" She runs up the stairs for a moment and comes back down in a business uniform. "Gotta look the part, right?" She gives a goofy smile. |
| (Nice picture! Reminds me of the Turks from FFVII) Alexi resists the urge to laugh and agrees with her. "Yeah Alan, that's great." Cyn chuckles to himself and walks out the door, his holopad in his hand. "Will we have to say anything at the meeting?" Zaine asks wondering if he should be dressed up too. "No," Alexi says, "at least you won't have to. I'll probably have to say something, but not much." "We've already sent the necessary files and reports to the Council," Cyn chimes in. |
| "No, he can speak. The council needs to know what Halloin is from a Kavardian's eyes." Brink protests standing by the door. "I thought I should wait, since I'm so nice." |
| "Oh you're so thoughtful," Alexi says sarcastically and pats him on the shoulder as she walks by. "So," Zaine says, "I do have to speak?" Cyn shrugs. "It's no big deal. Just answer what you're asked and you'll get it over with fast." |
| "Being from your planet, they will understand the...unique fashion." Brink smirks as his asshole-ness rises again. Jackson holds the door open pleasantly and hands Alexi her cloth back. (PLOT TWIST Jackson X Alexi! LOL!) |
| "Thanks hun," Alexi says, taking her cloth back and putting into her pocket. "So, are we walking there or...?" Zaine asks disappointed that he has to talk. "We're driving," Cyn replies. "You can go with Brink if you want, but I'll be getting there in a different vehicle." "Chop chop everyone," Alexi says. "We have to get there on time." She hops onto her air bike and starts it up. "Meet you guys there." "Race ya!" Cyn says, jumping onto his and starting up after her. |
| A short silence is among the remaining group. "Shall we?" Brink asks as he enters the car. Jackson holds the door open. Alan shrugs and enters next to Brink. A holographic driver sits in front. |
| "Thanks," Zaine says as he gets in the car. He looks at the hologram driver in amazement. "That's so cool." (How does that even work? That guy has no real body so...?) Alexi and Cyn take a convoluted route to the Council building, darting through alleyways and side streets in their race against each other. Both being skilled drivers, they swoop over stalls and store fronts, avoiding people with tricks and special moves. |
| Jackson quickly slips into the car and the door slides closed. After everyone is fastened, it bolts towards the council building. Alan sticks her hand in and out of the holograms head. "Woah, it feels like gelatin!" She says, amazed. The driver looks at her with an angry face and swats her hand away. "Excuse me but I am driving, ma'am! Don't you see that!?!" He turns back to the front. Brink chuckles and closes the window between the driver and them. "Calm down children." |
| "Woah!" Zaine exclaims. "It can talk! And it knows stuff." He turns back around. "You guys have some really cool stuff here." Alexi and Cyn take one last turn and end up in the front of the Council building. "Beatcha!" Cyn shouts. "Yeah right," Alexi says jumping off her hover bike. "I definitely beat you." "It's alright," Cyn says. "I know it can be a tough thing to admit; losing to me. But you'll just have to accept it." "You really think you could just beat a pilot of my caliber that easily?" "Hey, I built everything you fly." "Just because you built it doesn't mean you can pilot it." "You wanna bet?" Cyn says getting into her face. "You shouldn't make a losing bet Cyn." Alexi says, not intimidated by him. She smiles, then pushes him away slightly to get by. "C'mon, let's go wait for the others in the lobby." |
