| There is a moment of silence and then the door slowly opens. His whole left eye is black and blue and the burn on his cheek is bright red. "Listen, I'm fine. I'm a man I can handle it, really. I'm not as weak as they say. I'm sorry I brought you here, Alexi. I'm sorry.." Brink turns back to the cold water coming from the faucet. Alan nods. "Can I go with you? I don't wanna be by myself, but I don't want to seem clingy either..." She looks at him with awaiting eyes. |
| Alexi reaches in her pack and pulls out some salve and a bandage. She rests her hands on his shoulders and turns him towards her, then tilts his head to get a better look at him. "Hold still for a bit, okay?" "Of course you can come with me," Zaine says. "It's better this way; I might do something I'll regret otherwise." |
| "Do you really trust me that much?" Alan asks excitedly as they head out the door. "Thanks..I'm sorry you had to see me so...wounded.." He blushes embarrassed. |
| Zaine chuckles despite the anger. "Of course I do. Why wouldn't I?" Alexi shakes her head. "There's no need for you to apologize." She cleans his wounds, then applies the salve to the burn. |
| "Idunno, just...I've never had someone be so close to me before." Alan looks into his eyes lovingly and smiles. "Thank you." "Ah! What is that stuff? It stings!" Brink asks, a bit irritated. |
| Zaine smiles and leans down, kissing her on the forehead. "You're welcome." He walks to a large tree by the side of the house and unsheathes his sword. He takes a deep breath, then starts to hack away at the tree. "Hold still!" Alexi says. "Of course it's going to sting. You have an open wound. This is going to make sure you won't get an infection and will increase how fast you heal." |
| "Ekk, okay." He continues to hold still. Alan blushes and sits down on the ground swishing around some water in her hands. "Are you only skilled with a sword or..?" |
| Alexi finishes with the salve and bandages his face. "There you go." She stands back to check her work, admiring it. "Not bad..." shes says to herself. Zaine swings his sword, shearing off some of the tree's bark. "I am very skilled with the sword, though I can wield other weapons too. I'm not as great with other weapons, but I could still hold my own in a fight with them." |
| "Thanks." He looks up at her appreciatively and puts his hand on her shoulder. "I've only been good with my Sai, I know what you mean. Each Saiin is gifted with one special weapon that they are destined for." Alan explains. |
| Alexi looks up at Brink, at his eyes. "Oh, um...We should probably get back to the others..." she says shyly. "Is that so?" Zaine says while taking another swing. "Most people just choose something that they can handle or that's passed down where I'm from." |
| "It's different when you serve the goddess I suppose. I'm not complaining though, I enjoy my Sai very much!" Alan smiles brightly. Brink slowly creeps his hand from her shoulder to her cheek. Looking her deep in the eyes. "I guess so, yeah." He can't resist the warmth she invites and leans in for a passionate kiss. His other hand wrapped around her waist, pulling her in close. |
| "Oh yeah?" Zaine stops mid swing and straightens. "You want to spar then? I'd like to see how good you are." Alexi's face turns bright red as he pulls her close. She closes her eyes and kisses him back, putting her arms around his neck and leaning into him. She breaks that kiss and takes a step back, her face still a tad pink. "I should, uh, go back and...yeah..." |
| "Okay, but I won't go easy on you!" Alan sits up and winks, getting out her Sai. "Yeah..right..let's grab the others and go.." Brink agrees, his face also red. |
| Zaine smiles happily. "Bring it on then!" Alexi walks a little ahead of Brink down the hall and back into the living where Cyn rests on the sofa. "We're heading out now so c'mon," she says without stopping, not wanting him to see her face. Cyn sits up. "Hey wait!" |
| Brink pushes him back, dazed and follows her. Alan gets in position and wields her Sai towards Zaine. |
| "Hey!" Cyn says, a little angry now. "What the hell is his problem?" He follows them out of the house. "C'mon you two," Alexi says getting on her bike. "We're leaving now." "Aw," Zaine complains, "but we were just getting started!" "Well do it some other time!" Alexi shouts. "What the hell is your problem?" Cyn says, running over to Alexi. "Ah!" She starts the bike and drives away before he can get too close leaving him standing there confused. |
| Brink wobbles to the car. "Uhm, sir are you alright?" Jackson asks without getting an answer. Alan puts her Sai away and gets in with Zaine. "CELEBRATION TIME!" |
| "Whooo!" Zaine shouts with joy. "PARTY!" Cyn gets on his own bike and follows after them, confused and a little angry. "Damn it." Alexi dries her bike to the Melodies Respite and parks it in the side lot. "Idiot!" She walks into the building and sits on the floor by the bar. She sighs. (I'll just wait here for a little bit...then I'll go back to the house.) She looks around her parents old tavern, at how broken and messed up the furniture is. She stands and uprights a few stools and a table. "There." |
| Brink stares out the window with a big smirk on his face. "I sure hope that hit didn't make him go loopy! Jackson says worriedly. |
| "Relax Jack, he was already a little loopy," Zaine laughs. "So where are we having this little party of ours?" Alexi looks around the tavern again. "Maybe it's time to clean this up?" she says to herself. She starts working at it, returning the furniture to their proper places. |
| Jackson shrugs. "Don't ask me, I didn't plan it." "Why not Alexi's?" Alan asks. |
| "Aw c'mon Jack!" Zaine says. "Alan and I can't host it; we don't know anything about this planet. Besides, isn't part of your job to assist Mr. Brink here? Well, do him some assisting and help him have this party!" Zaine thinks for a moment. "I suppose we could have it there, but it's kind of small and there's not much to eat or for entertainment..." |
| Jackson sighs. "Very well, we will host it at Mr. Brink's home." He taps a button installed in the door as the holographic driver switches course to his house. |
| "Whooo! Party!" Zaine says, excited. He hums happily, thinking about the party. Alexi sets up the last stool and looks around for a broom. She finds one behind the bar and starts sweeping, singing softly to herself to keep away the silence. |
| "WHOO!" Alan cheers excitedly. Brink snaps out of his daze for a moment. "Y-Yeah, party!" He smiles. |
| Zaine looks at Brink curiously. "So Brink...Something happen in that short time you left us?" he asks, trying to be nonchalant. Alexi finishes her song and stops sweeping a moment. "That was wonderful," someone says by thee entrance. "Who's there?" Alexi says, reaching for her gun. "Whoa whoa." The man walks forward with his hands up. "You shouldn't shoot someone who just gave you a compliment," Finnick says. "And you shouldn't sneak up on people. What are you doing here?" "Me, I'm just visiting some old memories. What about you?" He walks over to the bar and sits down. "Just wanted to be along for a bit. Figured I might as well clean some while I'm here." A short silence fills the tavern before Finnick speaks. "I'm surprised this old place is still standing. With a bit of work, it could be just like it was." "It'll look the same sure, but it won't be the same." Finnick sighs. "Why don't you settle down here, like your mother and run the tavern again? I'd be a lot better than--" "You know I can't do that," Alexi interrupts. "I can't." Finnick smiles sadly but doesn't press the issue. "I'm sure your friends are going to be celebrating soon. Why don't you go join them? I'll take over cleaning up here. It's the least I could do for them." She thinks for a moment, then nods, handing him the broom. "There's my girl," he says, taking the broom. "Now go on. Go have fun. I'll see you later." |
| "........No just cleaned myself up....why?" Brink asks trying to keep his cool. "You look sick, your face is so red!" Alan exclaims. |
| "Oh yeah?" Zaine says, smiling. "I'm sure that's what it is..." He leans close to Brink. "So what'd she taste like then?" |
| Brink pauses and crosses his legs to hide the shame of his arousal. "I don't know what your talking about..." He takes a gulp of water. |
| Zaine laughs and leans back. "Yeah buddy, I'm sure you don't." He laughs some more. |
| Brink thinks quickly and whispers back "At least she didn't bring me to the store and show off all her naughty costumes. Let me ask you,...how did she taste, "buddy"?" He leans back with a smirk on his face. Alan looks at them both confused "It's not a surprise party, why are you whispering?" |
| "Like a sweet water if you must know," Zaine whispers back, undisturbed. "Maybe we should stop the car so you can take care of your little buddy there eh?" |
| "The only thing little in here is your "buddy", buddy!" Brink whispers back. "Of course she's so dumb she probably thinks you dropped your crayons in there." Alan leans against Zaine's arm lovingly. |
| Zaine chuckles to himself. "Have to resort to those kinds of jokes huh? Oh! Now I get it. This angry, alpha male attitude you have stems from the fact that you are trying to compensate for something else. It all makes sense now." He wraps his arm around Alan, pulling her closer to him. "It's okay Brink, there's therapy and drugs for that kind of thing." |
| "Ekk, you're the one who needs therapy. Your fluffy love makes me sick. "Oh Zaine, I love you so much, blahhh blahh water blahhh blahhh." The rate your going, I'll be getting a lot more "compensated" than you. As for drugs, that's the only way she could hop on that tiny thing." Brink picks back. Alan and Jackson exchange awkward glances trying to ignore the whole conversation. |
| "Hmmm. I see. You're jealous because I have found someone who will love me back and all you've found is someone who runs away." Zaine shrugs. "I guess that's what happens when you're Cody Brink." He leans forward and whispers, "But you know what? At least I'm going to actually get some 'compensation' unlike someone else I know." |
| "Yeah, you get kisses. Mine has more of a wild side, I mean, she's a captain. You have a sweet innocent pilot priestess who is so oblivious, she probably doesn't even know what sex is!" Brink continues roasting. (Alan & Jackson's Face) |
| "Sure, she's what I have now," he says in a low tone, "but I've been with others before you guys even landed on Phanaphos. The way you act after you get kissed is the same as a virgin's reaction. It's sad really. What's even more pathetic is that you actually think you have a chance with her." |
| Brink becomes silent. ".......This isn't much of a celebration..well, I mean...yeah.." Alan interrupts. Jackson remains quiet, dying on the inside. |
| Zaine looks out the window. "I'm sorry," speaking to Alan. Alexi parks the bike in the garage next to the house and heads inside. "Is no one here?" She looks around, then stops in the kitchen for a drink. "I bet they went somewhere without me...Wonder if they're having fun?" |
| "....For what?" She smiles innocently. Brink calls Alexi from the car, hoping she will save him from this nightmare and will be at the party. They pull up to the driveway, an mansion just as big as the previous one. |
| Zaine looks at her for a moment, then chuckles to himself. "Nothing, never mind." He looks at the home and whistles. "Damn. This one's a palace too. Hey, how come you and Alexi and Cyn both work for the same place but you got this palace and they have a little house?" Cyn pulls up behind them in the driveway a few seconds later and gets off his bike. Alexi checks her phone, then ignores it. "Nope. Not happening." She scrolls through her contacts and calls Cyn. "Hey, where are you right now?" ... "I see." ... "Huh? Yeah I'll be there in a bit." She hangs up and sighs, taking another drink before heading out again. |
| "It's huge!" Alan exclaims as she points to the mansion. Brink jumps out a bit disappointed from his ignored call. "It's the family name and the higher rank, Zaine. It's just the way things are." Jackson opens the door for everyone and lets them inside the "palace." |
| "Makes sense," Zaine says as they walk inside. (Damn this is really expensive stuff...) Cyn looks around, thinking about the prices these things could go for. (Just a bit here and there maybe? Already took care of the other stuff...) |
| (Sorry about that, Marc came when you went in :p) Alan oohs and ahhs over all the technology and beauty. (How different!) An automated voice comes from the house "Welcome...home..Master..Brink." "Thank you Paula." He says to the voice. "Mr. Brink owns a smart house, Paula. If you need anything just ask her." Jackson explains. |
| (I figured that happened. No worries bro!) "Wait a sec," Zaine says, "I can ask the house for things and it'll do it?" "Yeah," Cyn answers. "It's engineered to help it's owners live an easier life. A wonderful piece of machinery!" Alexi turns a corner, riding over to Brink's place, taking her time. |
| "I'm not an it, I am a lady. You should be more respectful." Paula cuts in. "He's ignorant to our world, Paula. Be nice." Brink assures her. Alan oozes with excitement. "So...different!" |
| "I'm not going to fight with a machine about whether or not it can be considered something other than a person," Cyn says. "Anything that humans make with their hands is an 'it' -- nothing more and nothing less." "Okay okay," Zaine replies, "You can argue with the house later Cyn. Right now, it's party time!" |
| " WOO PARTY!" Alan yells out excitedly. Brink nods and shows them to the huge kitchen still steamed from Zaine's words. |
| Zaine whistles. "Damn! This room is big enough for a family to live here." He walks around examining appliances and the various cookware that are out. "Do you live here alone Brink?" Cyn flicks open is holopad,already bored. |
