| As the title said, this thread will be used to discuss our favorite parts of the great work that is Fate/Stay Night. Personally, mine would have to be the clash of ideals that Shirou has throughout the story. We get to see his character and ideals from multiple perspectives, and his inside conflict is very nicely explored. How about you guys? |
| General story development over time and escalation. The way each route in handled was great and each route had at least one high point/climax that was really exciting. The dead ends are pretty funny and my fav one was probably the last one in UBW because foreshadowing HF. |

| The Characters, I mean, almost all of them Interesting, and even the ones i hate aren't just hated because they are bad Guys (well, except the 2 Matou Worms (zouken and Shinji), and Gil, who was a moron in F/SN. How i sometimes wish if he was in F/SN more like in F/Z.) And the Setting in general. |

| Well, the setting is pretty damn awesome, some of the characters are amazing, and most servants have pretty unique skills, outfits, etc. It's also really cool that you oftentimes have no idea how the characters will get out of a bad situation. And when you think things couldn't get any worse, they usually do. |
| The world itself, SO MANY greek legends compared to other regions, characters that you can love and hate at the same time(except Shinji). And the execution of the "save everyone" ideal.In other works it either isnt addressed at all or it is achieved no matter what.And if it wasnt for Archer's "realization" in Answer it would be the best among those executions. Since FSN is a finished project, I can put Toaru Majutsu Index and Kazuma Kamachi above FSN and Nasu for the execution of "being a hero" and "saving everyone" themes. |
| I love pretty much everything, but if I had to choose, it'd be the characters. They really drew me in. The premise felt fine at first, and the OST was swell, but I really fell for Fate in UBW, when Shirou developed in another direction, confronted his ideals, and made me love Shirou, Illya, Rin, Archer, Lancer and the rest of the cast for who they are. That was when what felt like a normal coming-of-age story became a work of art for me. I'd hate to admit it, but Kirei was also something I really liked. His absolute evil that wasn't really evil contrasted well with Shirou's absolute good that really wasn't good. They were both broken, distorted men and their solidified the series as one of my all-time favs. He was an amazing villain for an amazing story, and I suppose I've got to love him for it. |

| The thing I like best is the story. It really grew on me over time. I do like the characters -- it wouldn't be a good story if they weren't done well -- but the thing that's appealed most is the way they're used to tell a story. Several stories, actually, and stories within stories. It all comes together well -- everything, the plot, the themes, the characters, even the different routes and choices... well, alright, I did get a bit tired of some of the music and backgrounds in the VN, so that could have been better, but... there were some good ones. So, good enough. ;) |
| The fight between Shirou and Archer. The most glorious fight in any medium. I get shivers to this day, combined with the Emiya theme, let's me have taste of true Yuetsu. |

| Hmmmmmm... I'll just go with a simple answer: Characters. It simply has many good ones that I find interesting/cool. But also atmosphere, and I'm honestly only talking about the VN now when it comes to that. VNs in general tend to excel at atmosphere and of course immersion. That's certainly the case with the Fate/stay night VN, and to give another example - Higurashi. If we're talking story... I mean it's mainly HF that does it for me tbh. Yes you need Fate and UBW to get the whole picture of course, but still. And it's also mainly the characters who are important to HF that interests me as well (Kirei, Illya, Sakura, Shirou, etc.), so there's that. edit: immersionl = immersion :p |
