Damn, I just love these siblings:

Good episode overall. Training parts aside, it also shows more mechanics of tennis with Eiichirou's movements. Some of his face expressions were so priceless XD

Nice episode and seems a bit rushing...
This arc might be over in 2 more episodes and really can't wait for Maruo vs Alex rematch....

I've fell in love with the ED, it's so good! Also the lack of natsu in the america arc is sad! :B

There will be plenty of Natsu when he returns to Japan, but this arc is important for him to develop his own style of tennis. We should get to see some good romantic developments as well this season based on the OP and ED.

Aw, I'm sad that the animation quality already dropped, I hope they will improve it for the next major matches.

Ahh!! I'm loving the second season so far. I'm really happy Maruo finally got his first win! Looks like he'll be playing Soji next episode. I'll be looking forwards to watching that. :)

It'd have been a nice touch if they changed things around a bit and have Maruo got his confidence back after hearing Mao Abe sings "Believe in Yourself" XD

They are surely going at the Florida arc at lightning fast pace. It must mean they are planning to put a lot of details on the Kanto tournament.

A bit early to call it anime of the season, but I'm definitely enjoying Baby Steps most at the moment.

Good episode. Fun to see Eiichiro win after his loosing streak.
Also got a feeling there will be something going on between eiichiro and marcia. Natsu needs to be careful :PP

Next ep, Ike vs Eiichiro!

28 straight losses... damn... but at least Ei-chan is improving a lot...

Ei-chan finally won a game T.T

It's kinda weird hearing their conversations in Japanese since they're in the US XD.

I haven't thought/missed the guys from Japan at all. Too mesmerized by the this arc.

It was fun to see the mentioning how Ei-chan is on a losing mode too. Ei-chan really is quite the lionhearted man, to not only continue on but finally breaking out of his shell!

Seeing him winning his first game here was amazing! The effects when the ball hits the racquet looks nice, didn't really pay attention before that.

Looks like this is going to be a good arc. Finally Maruo won a match.

The animation is still not up to par though, that displeases me.

The animation </3

Eh the "Believe in Yourself" line was kind of bland. I think there was more than that. :L
(It was great in the manga though. The anime version's not up to par. ><)

They're definitely rushing the Florida arc though. I distinctly remember Ei-chan using the monitoring room a lot, and regaining his confidence was a bit harder than what they showed in the episode.

Ei-chan's improvement back in Japan afterwards is stunning and will be fun to watch though. I really hope they don't cut out material from the major matches later. :L

I love how everyone in the florida academy learned Japanese perfectly just so that maruo doesnt feel out of place. U really gotta give it up to the academy, they go all out for their students. I mean they studied so hard to speak Japanese that they even gained a japanese accent when speaking english. Love this academy.

Also good episode. Hope maruo keeps on winning

Losing streak is discouraging, but at least by chance, Ei-chan figured out a way. And it's not just by believing in himself, just a simple routine really helps him. Happy to see him win his first match in America :) It was also nice of Alex to give Ei-chan advice. Ike is waiting!

Alex confirmed bro.

Mike confirmed awesome:

But dayum, watching Maruo get rekt so many times was depressing ;-;
His win at the end made me so happy, too bad he's still going to get rekt again by Ike next week though :|

I suddenly started digging the OP so much; I've listened to it so many times since the show started, kinda weird since I wasn't this obsessed with it last year. Still looking for that damn gif :'(

Love the emphasis on the process for Maruo rather than the wins/losses. My favorite team in NBA was like Maruo at the beginning of the season with the countless amount of losses. The coach would always talk about it's more about if the team is playing the right way and that wins/losses don't matter. Definitely love the application of that here.

sure it´s a cliché, but it´s actually a very important thing in tennis since the mental aspect is so important in the sport so I can´t really complain when they say stuff like that since it actually matters a lot even in real life in the sport!

Gosh, I didn't think this arc would be so short! Maaaaan, this is really, REALLY making me want to take tennis up again. Except the first time, I took up tennis because of The Prince of Tennis, LOL. I was so happy for Maruo!! He's grown so much! Really looking forward to the next episode~~ Really pleased with how this season is going and we're only on episode two!

Loosing for 28 straight matches certainly needs a strong heart, many would already give up.

I love this! I've always liked the opening and the message "believe in yourself" it has, but wow, it was actually applied in the show. Awesome. <3 Gambatte Maruo!

I haven't noticed any animation derp yet so I am satisfied as long as they keep it good enough.

Maruo learned a very valuable lesson this episode. That being to trust in himself and his instinct. The vicious cycle is real and dangerous, trying so hard you mess up and trying even harder due to that mistake. To calm down and trust in your body to act when it must with nothing else in mind is the greatest thing one can do, and Maruo seemed to learn that lesson accidentally and even adorably assume it was due to the superstition of the strings. It's the routine Maruo! It's the fact that you're clearing your mind, taking a breath, and taking on the ball with nothing else in mind. It wouldn't be Baby Steps if Maruo didn't lose 27 times straight, no it would not.

Alex is quite the surprise. At first I was happy to see some salt in the Baby Steps universe, but Krisna's comment about being angry not meaning you hate losses may have had some value. I took him to be an angry try hard, but he seems to not be spiteful towards Maruo, but rather happy for him. He was the first to tell him to believe in himself, he diligently watched him study, and he even smiled when Maruo got his first win. Alex is amazing, I would agree with that Maruo, and seeing his name in the opening with a quote makes me think he'll be a big impact on Maruo.
Partly related, Marcia grew on me this episode. At first her tsundere nature alone was frustrating, but seeing her genuinely care for Maruo alike her brother changed my mind.

The fact that Maruo is focusing on control over other technique is a good decision. What makes him interesting is his eye sight and his stable and precise style and this America trip seems like it'll teach him new things and better his old alike.

MC stinks at tennis, give it up already and go back to studies. No one good starts tennis at age 15.
