Wow, this whole club and thread sure is a blast from the past... well anyway hellooooo I have come from the futurrrrrrrrrrr No, the whole world isn't covered in chrome, before you ask. And since I have come from the far, far future, let's see if all of these wishes have been done in the future....... uh.... I'd say @sAikii is the closest, as there's dark-edgy-plot-oriented magical girl shows everywhere and not much of the more light-hearted fare of the past... but hey there was one "a bit of events of everyday life" magical girl show last year, in the form of (the super underrated) The Demon Girl Next Door. I like my dark magical girl anime, but I also miss the more light-hearted ones. Would like to see a return to form for the genre sometime soon, maybe even during this decade. Deconstructing various tropes have already brought some interesting takes in the magical girl genre, but I'm sure there's still fun, interesting stuff to come even without the edginess... and the self-awareness, which is usually in the form of ripping the genre's tropes wide apart. I definitely want to see more flower-themed magical girl anime, I only really know of like three anime in the genre. |
