Yeah I noticed it was the 3rd after I saw epi 1. But being the 3rd season, that gives it even more reason to push me right into the action and really get me into the anime. Which it hasn't. Which is why I'm wondering why people are so into the anime, and rank it #8? Unfortunately flamers and spammers started butting it, aka the very first post, "you have no taste."
Oh no! There is no action by the third season, so this show must be horrible. If you didn't notice, one of the genre's is "slice of life." Another tag is "comedy."
But dude, Code Geass should have been tagged Comedy.

What is there to argue about? He just further proves my point, I thought a monkey could see that, guess not.

I'll give you a hint (historical note):

Back in the great depression, people would watch movies rather than feed themselves because it created hope and excitement in their life, and made them forget about the hardships.

Do you get it now?
HAHAHAHA, what has that got to do with anything!?

It's obvious you haven't watched enough of aria to give a sound opinion on it, because you can't seem to see how it is hardly exactly like real life.

I LIVE ON EARTH, DO YOU? BECAUSE THEY DON'T.

So does this mean starving college students are actually the best fed people on the planet? Dang! I wish I'd known that before I did my grocery shopping last week. I knew I was wrong to cut back on my Anime. :D

Sounds like a museum is perfect for you then. ;)

Art, deeper meanings, etc.

Yes, they are.

So are Orchestra concerts, Post-modern music, Philosophy, and intelligent literature (No, not Twilight) and also intelligent anime. I don't care what others think of my interests, and I don't care for the interests of others, everyone has their own taste. However, I do care when someone attacks something, without even understanding it.

I can be perfectly fine with someone not liking Aria, which is to be respected, as long as they understand that it's more than what you see on the surface. If you don't understand something, there should be no reason for you to judge it, hence my original post.

I think museums are awesome, no lie.

That's great, now will you please come up with an intelligent answer?

Good job missing my point, again. Here's a hint (if there's no suspense or action in the final section of the story, normally the climax, then it's a logical assumption for the rest of the story to be dull). Ah, good ol' grade 9 english class.
Oh dear, you are actually trying to defend this point?
Fine i will break it down for you, Grade 9 english class is hardly advanced enough for real life, pet.

SO!

Say someone had stacked up a huge line of dominoes, all leading to a dramatic climax where it spelled "I hate Aria" (for instance)
What will you enjoy more?
Watching the first dominoe being tipped and the progression of movement?
Or the last 5 dominoes falling over.

Do you understand this concept?
Maybe they will cover it in Grade 10 english.

Speaking of grade 10 english.

Romeo and Juliet, one the greatest plays, remembered for centuries, started with the foretelling of the death of Romeo and Juliet, which was undoubtedly the conclusion of the novel. Now why read a book you know the ending to? This has a simple explanation. The fact that you know the ending, you are intrigued about how this came about, and desire to figure about the build of story which led to the ending.

I can't believe I've had to site so many literary/historical things and you still don't get it LOL

Yes, I can quote random things too.

But they don't add anything to your argument, nor do they have any connection to Aria.

The point I'm trying to make kid, is that the reason people watch TV for one of several reasons:

1. Avoid real life issues
2. Excite themselves with something not possible in their lifetime (ex. superpowers)
3. The two above should be enough, don't feel like explaining anymore to a twerp.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

If the creator wanted to create this effect with his story then he would have put the ending at the beginning.
Like Shakespeare did.
If this was the best way to go with every single story, why aren't all endings at the beginning?

Holy moley, this is stupidness at a new level.

1. THE REFERENCE ABOUT ROMEO AND JULIET WAS TO EXPLAIN HOW KNOWING THE ENDING OF THE STORY, ADDS FURTHER EXCITEMENT TO THE SHOW OVERALL.

THIS IS RELEVANT BECAUSE I STARTED NEAR THE END OF ARIA (SEASON 3).

2. THE REFERENCE ABOUT MOVIES IN THE DEPRESSION IS TO EXPLAIN WHY PEOPLE WATCH MOVIES FOR EXCITEMENT.

THIS IS RELEVANT BECAUSE SOMEONE ARGUED THAT ARIA IS GOOD BECAUSE IT LACKS EXCITEMENT.

Anyhow, I'm going to bite, and it's really this simple. Ignoring the rest of the thread, I'll say this - I. Like. Aria.

Why do I like it? It's a show which over three seasons builds wonderful and beautiful characters. It's not a fast paced show, it's not a show full of action. However, what it does do is sets you in the life of these three girls, their three seniors, and the people around them. What this does when combined with the excellent writing, beautiful music and fantastic story telling that each episode presents, is it creates a wonderful and calming atmosphere.

While it may not be the pinnacle of drama, it is certainly present as these girls grow up to become the next generation of undines. They go through many trials and life lessons as they come of age, which is generally present in a per episode basis. This is where the story telling comes into play. Each episode, each scene is quite literally a snippet out of these characters fictional lives told from their point of view. As Akari writes Ai toward the end of each episode, the new day begins anew and she walks away a smarter and wiser person with what she's gained that day.

All-in-all, Aria may not be for everyone. Shit, I know many people who don't like it, and I'm fine with that. It was a show that calmed me, made me happy, and the characters intrigued me. A lot of the things they learn can actually be directly applied to your own very life, I know applied a handful to my own.

Anyhow, these are simply my thoughts, I'm entitled to mine, just as much you are to yours. If you can sit down and immerse yourself in their world sometime, it might just turn out that you can enjoy it too.

1. The point isn't the format, the point is that people are attracted to stories they are fascinated about, which is undoubtedly true.

2. I honestly don't believe that. People watch things for MANY reasons (too many to list), whether it be to learn something new, to enjoy comedy, to be excited, to be scared, etc.

Good job dropping your point, you finally did something wise, you weren't going anywhere with it.

And why are you bothering to mention one spelling mistake? It shows how desperate you're getting just to start an argument.

Thank you for the quality post. I think this is the first post to actually answer my original question, as well as sound educated while reading it.

I see what you're getting at. Basically you just enjoy seeing the viewpoint of other characters even though the show may not be exciting. I can respect that.

I would like to point out once more that it wasn't your original question.

If you bothered reading instead of repeating this for the 3rd time, you would of figured out it actually was.

What was the first question I asked? "How is this ranked #8 again?" was obviously rhetorical, so what came next? Oh yeah, "so why do you like this show?" Wow, what surprise huh?

That was a general statement. The point I'm trying to make, without trying to hurt her feelings, is that she's stupid.

And I could care less about one's a/s/l.

Hostile attack? Please quote me in the op. And yes, since I didn't ask a question in the op, I reminded myself to ask it in the 3rd post. I thought people would be smart enough to figure out that much....

But you've already demonstrated a clear lack of empathy for other people. Concern for feelings couldn't possibly be the motivation. I'm thinking it's more of that backpedaling I mentioned earlier.

Here goes, hostility in bold.

I just finish the first episode, scanned through the rest. I don't think I've ever wanted to drop a show this badly in my life before. Honestly, this show is just so terrible beyond description. I had somewhat high expectations considering it's ranked 8th; obviously, I was horribly deceived by the ratings.

They do nothing all Anime except talk to the dumb cat and bake cakes...

How is this ranked #8 again?

And you've obviously demonstrated a lack of thought in your posts.

The point of an argument is to well, argue one's points, not attack the user personally.

(Unless provoked, of course).

Please think because you embarrass yourself further.

Who am I attacking exactly? The Anime? Isn't my OP exactly what you've been trying to argue with me - sharing my opinion? My op is not directed to anyone, nor am I being offensive.

Good job.

And you missed the meaning of my post, for the fourth time in a row ... are you serious...

My point is that I don't attack people, I argue their points.

I can't believe I have to elaborate, you really need to be more open-minded and not need such a straightforward response.

Thank god he left after repeating the same point 4 times in a row and expecting a serious response. It's like talking to a wall.

Anyways, thanks for the good laugh guys, but my movie finished downloading. Thanks to those who stuck till the end and tried their very best to try and come up with something and couldn't, it gave me a good laugh. Better luck next time.

Ciao :)
