With Yang and Reuental dead, things would look grimm if Reinhard as well died. Reinhard has good men, but things can always go bad if he were to die.

And Julian became Yang 2.0 officially now. I guess he's still young to moan about paychecks and retirement.

Hey Julian was pretty good, now I bet Reinhard will die of illness and the weak Democracy will win. Yay! Of course the series won't be that retarded... right?

Sick again? I really hope Reinhard doesn't meet his end because of an illness.

Julian was mighty impressive in this episode. With this victory, hopefully this will silence most of his doubters.

Julian gets his long overdue win, not much of a surprise. He's really gone and stirred up the hornet's nest, though..

Mini gripe: So what's the deal with the Spartans and Valkyries? Despite the overwhelming defeat the Spartans imparted, they didn't really make a dent on the actual Imperial force other than destroy the Valkyrie force. It would make more sense if they had pressed on and inflicted some damage on the cruisers or battleships.

In that sense, you can call everything a plot armor. IN fact, every turning point in death note becomes a plot armor, especially the laughably ridiculous and hard to believe turn of events in the middle, too convenient. Even Monster is filled with 'plot armor'. I think the phrase itself should be used sparingly, if at all, because its easy to pick flaws in any story or storytelling method...I think it boils down to one's bias of one method or approach over another.

Constantly beating a stronger force which has competent leaders with some cheap stunt is enough to bring out the plot armor card. Especially when they magically keep getting more troops/ships to be able to fight off each new wave of empire fleets.

It's become rather boring watching Alliance vs Empire battles since you already know the Alliance is going to win even though the Empire is the logical victor. The alliance always pulls something out of their ass off-screen that gives them an advantage over the Empire fleet.

Exactly! Because of this i become more and more disappointed with this series. I think i'm going to give it 5/10 - pain from Alliance's Gary Stus much stronger than enjoyment from Empire's side of story.

Compared to previous alliance plot-armored battles this one is the least illogical (Meraktz and that blue freckled commander and Julian Vs Wahlen isn't that much illogical if we take the history behind them), it was fine by me.
Also good to see the the last episodes will be without space war, as the drama in this show is much better.

Deal with the Bishop and Rubinsky please!

I really wanna see Reinhard on true action battle.

No just sitting on his battleship, he must show republicans what's Lohengramm true skills on strategy and war by commanding by himself the float...

If there's 1 thing I've learned from watching this show is that bigger fleet = never win a battle. Seriously, I hope the Empire smashes in their faces before this series comes to an end, or I'm not going to be satisfied.

I've lost count of how many times you've used that expression....

It's natural when it's used so much and this being a long anime

it's not "plot armour" it's just smart tactics. You can't call storyline directions you don't like plot armour just because you don't like them. So feeble.

Tense battle! I thought Wahlen might die again and I was scared. Wagenseil not taking better care nearly lead to Wahlen's death. Reinhard has lost too many good admirals now that it's hurting him.

Julian attacking through the other side was really unexpected!

I think Poplan will die soon and I'll be sad.

Reinhard will die of an illness and I won't care too much.

Power rankings:
1) The Empire
2) Julian
3) Phezzan
4) Earth Cult
5) Goldnbaums

MVP: Julian. Way to go kiddo.

Gotta give it to the translators for coming out with the line "Idiotically Optimistic Pure Germiculture Who Don't Think About Meeting Their Death." I wonder how tough that was to translate.

Julian is reclaiming back on what the Republican can do when Yang Wenli is alive
Looks like a good thing.. for now
Before the bad guys strike

Seems like this is a bad premonition for Reinhard and the Empire

I'm dissatisfied with this episode. There is no logical way for the Alliance to have won. First of all, the Imperial Admiral's should have learned by heart the risk of being in range of the Thor Hammer. Speaking about the Thor Hammer, this is the first time it was fired so many times. Back in its first uses, it was implied it needed a bit of a time to cool down. Did the IRG upgrade it with no available resources?

Also, I find it very convenient for Julian to have won this battle without any previous formal training. It wasn't shown that he attended any military academy after he enlisted, and his role in Iserlohn was pretty much to be of logistics. Yes, he had the best master anyone could have, though to have won in such a manner with almost no losses... Anyway, I must concede I liked very much his face of disgust after using the Thor Hammer.

I'm convinced that Reinhard must be suffering from a rare disease. His sister's paleness cannot be a coincidence. Is this the fall of the House of (Musel) Lohengramm?

There are only 8 episodes left, and I'm worried about the ending of the series. Being it such a long series, they should already be giving us some sense of ending. Indeed Reinhard could die in the last episodes in battle against Iserlohn or due to his illness, but I'm also afraid some matter will be left unresolved or rushed. De Villier, Lang, Rubinsky, Oberstein, the riots, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Reinhard's heir... I think it's too late to launch an expedition and expect the rest of things to be swiftly resolved.

But even so, the preview... I'm really afraid for Oberstein's fate. Will I finally have to raise his death flag?

Not sure what the entire point was of this skirmish. Fighting Islerlohn's fortress, even with two fleets surrounding the entry and exit was always going to lead to a loss.

Quality of people below admiral is indeed lacking, and with the senior pillars of the Lohengraam dynasty being killed off, one by one, its showing the limitations of autocrasy.

And this leads onto the finer point; there we have it... the chink in the Lohengraam dynasty. Reinhard is only one man, and sadly with his ill health, it looks as if he simply won't have the time in his life to impliment everything he has to offer.

An autocrasy is only as powerful as its best ruler, and his ill health is an achilles heel to any real defined leadership. Its going to be very sad to see some a magnificent leader have his dynasty so short lived.

Similarly extended to his senior ranks, sadly as they're dropping like flies, the younger generation don't seem fit at fill their ranks.

How the fuck are they stupid enough to move into the range of the Thor Hammer?!

If you want to defeat an army which has the Iserlohn Fortress, maybe use more than 2 fleets?

It doesn't make LOTGH much worse , but just emperor dying of illness soon after Julian's first success may be a bit TOO stupidly convenient. I hope it won't just be a Death Note level plot device , but something meaningful.

They were not intially going into defeat them, they were responding to Julians advance. They even explained what the admiral was trying to do with a paralell chase down so that the hammer could not target him.

i think julian doing stupid things. he may won "tactically" be their fleet is getting smaller by each battle. and the empire fleet is much larger.
cannot think of the isserlohn to be excited about winning little battle rather than big battle.

aside of that, wagenseil returned the old "stupid commander" thingy.

from some reason i do not see reinhard's sickness as death flag. i have more feeling they will find soon enough the cause of these fever rather than kill him.
and also, the narrator haven't spoilered any bold death flag lol.

Great episode. Julian wins his first battle as admiral, with fantastic performances from Poplan’s spartanians and Merkatz’s attackers. I’m buying this whole situation between Isenhorn and the Empire, unlike Reuental’s nonsensical rebellion. 4/5 but close to 5/5.

Only 8 episodes left. I’ll miss this show.

Don't forget that due to immense plot armor given to the democrats the losses in their fleet are magically forgotten or made insignificant.

I feel that Reinhard's fevers are either trying to bring about some meaning... or that one of his servants is straight up poisoning him.

How many more times will they keep falling for the same Thor hammer lure mistake...

I can't believe Julian, Dusty and Merkatz manage to outplay 2 fleets of Empire in such embarrasing manner, Poplan did great job too.

Something tells me big attack is gonna happen soon on the Iserloth and its either gonna be Reinhard or any other extremely skilled admiral in charge of it

honestly felt frustrated with this episode, just firing off thor's hammer 2-3 times doesn't make for a very interesting battle, especially with how close we are to the end of the series...
