And when Koume finally confesses, it was too late... it's heartbreaking that Isobe has moved on when Koume has finally worked up her courage.

Liked how Isobe has changed though. Much calmer, and seemingly has finally got over his psychological issues.

Awww man, how could you deny her after that beautiful confession?

I know how, it makes sense, 6 months without seeing her. Way too long, their relationship wasn't healthy. Even so, they'd still be good together...

And then, he is caught by the police...

How would he get into that high school anyway. He hasn't been doing any schoolwork or studying.

I believe he was just saying he was going to high school as a away to bring closure. And for her not to worry about him. I'm sure he felt he was going to get caught eventually and he didn't want to worry her.

My interpretation here is that Isobe is forcing himself to change for Satou's and his sake. I remember he mentioned how Satou has a normal family and is loved; I think he doesn't want to bring Satou down with him any further than that especially when he got violent at the video club.

Does anyone have an answer to this?
I don't know if I'm looking too much into this but I believe that Isobe might have been the cause of his brothers suicide. I feel like no one's really touched this issue because it seems really subtle.
But in Chapter 19 Isobe is stopped by two police officers, he was said to have been seen at the video club on September 10th, it doesn't specify why he was stopped, but that date is 5 days before his birthday. Also the 5 days before his brother committed suicide.
Also in his letter to the forum fan in Chapter 12 he mentions that "The police simply wrote off his death as an accident."
Also on the last page of Chapter 19 Isobe agrees to go with the police and his character looks a lot more like his rugged depressed self, rather then the happier version of himself at the start of the chapter.
Does anyone know what the police might have wanted to ask Isobe about? Or why he would have been at the video shop?
To me it seems like it would have had something to do with his brother, he seems to have a lot of guilt from his brothers death. Maybe he was really fucked up before his brothers death, and wanted him to die?

I think you're getting all this wrong. It's most definitely been atleast a year since his brother's suicide.

Isobe took out his frustration at the upperclassmen who were associated with the Yakuza. Like the guy from baseball club said, those upperclassmen used to bully his brother which is why he ultimately commited suicide.

So that's why Isobe approaches them as they exit the video store and electrocutes them all. After he's done with them, Kanzaki turns out be there at the video store too. With Kanzaki IDing him, and the police arriving there, he was probably able to tell the cops all about how Isobe attacked his friends and him.

That's the reason why that one cop wants to bring in Isobe for questioning.

Isobe seemed like he was pushing her away because he didn't want her to get dragged down by him anymore.
I think it was a necessary heart break. Isobe wasn't good for Sato and he knew it.
Now she can hopefully move on and find an emotionally stable guy with some more maturity.

it's so heartbreaking to get rejected but Isobe did the right thing, I'm glad he is okay!
