Whoa that was intense. We got rugby and the competition looked intense.

The body movements, camera angles, and intensity all captured the thrill of the game imo. Gion better of learned something when he was watching from the sides. Iwashimizu is pretty awesome. That height really gave him an advantage.

Wow big guy finally managed to tackle someone. He was like a child that closes his eyes and starts hitting real hard.

kinda disappointed by the match, between shitty 3d and pretty random animation(clearly not like the insane animation in the opening, madhouse wtf),still even if i don't like Rugby i'm enjoying this anime.

How this is rated worse than Yuri!! On Ice and almost on par with Days is beyond me
But I read until chapters 37 and I have hope the ratings will pick up after the anime's run is over

Pretty good episode.
Match was interesting to watch, There's a good amount of energy and spirit to the games. This might actually be the first time I'm watching a Rugby match, This really is quite the physical sport isn't it? Don't really know much of the rules or what's what, but the game was still pretty enjoyable.
Iwashimizu's trauma kicked in when he was facing the same guy he injured, A little shouting by Gion brought him back to his senses. Iwashimizu was pretty cool once he got over his trauma.

Nice little flashback about Sekizan as well.

I only read up to Chapter 11, i could not find the rest in English Translation. Where did you read it?

I like the new added scenes in the opening and ending.

I expected this episode to reach the half-time point in the match, so it went slower then expected. Animation and music quality could have been better, but it was fine. As far as I remember, I am pretty sure they cut out a bit of Ebumi dialogue, he was more talkative and insulting/negative while sitting on the bench.

6.5/10 Episode

Looking forward to next one.

Pretty good episode. Sounded like a naruto ost when they were introducing the players and their positions lol. Love those body on body sound effects, wish there was more gameplay though.

The match started and I was like "Is Etsugo insane? What the hell is he waiting for? Being run over?"

The episode overall was very entertaining. I hope they keep showing what makes rugby stand apart from other sports.

I think the author has a big issue when design collars that are of a different colour from the rest of the shirt. Just saying.

I read up to chapter 11 in English trans as well. For the rest, I read Chinese scanlations. They have up to chapter 39 translated.

The episode was awesome.
I loved the expressions, the development for our Tree trunk and the ost!
I also liked the animation, I don't know what there is to complain about, I enjoyed it a lot!

Same, he's an amazing character!

All in all, pretty good ep, I was looking forward to seeing the Sekizan flashback animated so I'm happy! I thought the animation was decent. I enjoyed it!

Tree Trunks gets over his issue but miyuki sure didn't help him.
Sekizan is so dedicated to rugby :'(

What I got out of this is that rugby's a gentleman's sport where physically superior men have an advantage but skill, teamwork and passion are also a big part.
You gotta want the ball!

It was cool to actually see some rugby action in this episode. I think Iwashimizu can really stand out as a star player if he becomes a bit more confident in his abilities. I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do once he stops being so timid on the field.

The composer for Naruto Shippuuden is also doing the music for this show, so that's probably why.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

I'm on the fence right now.

The first half of the beginning of the match was done quite badly? I must say, while the latter part of the episode did it very good sometimes?

I mean, I hope it doesn't continue to display such sloppish quality? Based on the second half of the episode it looked better I mean, so lets hope it continues that way from next episode onwards.

also a lock picking up a lock was I the only one noticing that lol - weird to say the least, I was a hooker that was picked up in the lineouts when I used to play so I suppose weird things can be done like that lol

Apparently this should pick up a lot after this match (at most, the 2nd vol.) since the mangaka was still getting the feel of writing.

it doesn't matter who picks up or who jumps or who throws in line-outs. its just normally it's the two locks and a flanker that jump and the hooker that throws in (for the 7 man lineout).

I didn't notice that. That's weird. I was never picked up by a lock and I never picked up anyone as a lock, as basically locks jump both.

So the match against Keijo isn't going that good since they're in the lead and all. And that's mainly because tree trunk doesn't want to end up dislocating someone's shoulder again especially his friend's. And Gion helps shout some sense into him which wakes up tree trunk and now they're gonna make their comeback. I liked how they told us some of the rules too with Gion learning the game.

The match is so far good enough. Those tackles were pretty cool. Those bulldozers though. I think things will get more exciting since it'll probably be comeback time next week.

Yeah, I know, that's why I said it was weird for the lock to pick up the lock as if you play strategically you use both locks to jump at either front, center, back along with either a flank or number 8

When I started this series I kept having this familiar feeling like seeing something like this before.
And now I konw why it reminds me a lot of baki, the huge muscles and the facial feature look a lot like it (I know its not the same artist, duh).
Anyways tree trunks fidgeting was really annoying come on dude you just hurt him in the shoulder which is normal for such a game, glad he got it finally together.
I hope he stays like this.
Sekizan was looking way better in the past without this silly extensions but the team seemed really too laid back then.
Hope Gion finally gets a chance to play.

Finally some actual action. I don't know why they added the 3D kick off animation, it was unnecessary, could've easy stick to 2D. Look like some fighting back from Jinko next ep.

I thought those were men grabbing each others' balls when they did the scrum. Guess I'm new to Rugby lol

it's a way to get girls involved in highschool sports anime without shitty romance plots. girls aren't allowed to play in the boys teams in highschool.

Sumiaki at 1st chickens-out but later on the same he showed his original self!
Captain Sekizan was so furious with that aura! cool!
Time to change the pace of the game next ep!
LOL Gion and the other small blone dude didn't even get to play!

I wonder how come this far, yet failed to be no exaggeration typical of shonen, except some small way. While making light atmosphere for the viewer does not poison the absence of "special effects", they do not even ridiculed the sporting context, giving due prominence; satisfied and pleased the good work to make the right merits that this sport. To appreciate the soundtrack, because it is always well sewn to situations encountered. Narrative that highlights the peculiarities of the characters, in addition to everything mentioned earlier; ultimately, I attended another good episode. The nit-picking, I would leave the part.

Nothing surprising here. Yaoi on ice will probably be a 12 episode series, so it shows off all the good stuff from episode one, whereas All Out most likely has to save it for later since it's going to air twice as long. The score might even out a little with time. So far though YOI got faster pacing, more comedy, flashier choreography and a more experienced staff. Huge amounts of fujoshi fanservice and social media hype do their job too.

Good reasons though I find All Out ep1-3 beats YOI ep1-3 by a mile. The latter doesn't even come close
& the animation for the choreography took a dive in quality this week, I wonder how next week's will fare (if they're doing any skating).

The power of yaoi and hot guys.

All Out is suffering from some cringy character designs. If they looked more like Free and KnB characters, people would be loving it since nowadays most sport fandoms are over flown not with sport lovers but yaoi fangirls.
