| Is it worth watching KlK in english dub or sub? I've been recommended to watch kill la kill. Its recently been dubbed and its on netflix. I am a great supporter of dubs and considered watching it dubbed but i'm having second thoughts. So i wanted to know if it is worth watching dubbed or not. If you say watch it subbed then give me a good reason and not just because you hate dubs. (No Dub Haters) |

| While I would say dubbed since that's what I normally watch & enjoy I learned to like subbed thanks to Atack on Titan on Netflix. As far as I'm aware like AoT Kill la Kill is available in subs only on Netflix & while I tried to enjoy it the extremely fast paced nature of the animation and characters speaking at the same time or immediately after makes it not only impossible to read but some lines don't even have subs since everything is happening quickly. This could be attributed to my lack of experience with subs so I'd recommend if you're used to dubs for this series stick with that otherwise test your sub reading skills. |

| Ryuko sounds pretty much what I'd expect her to sound.. Tomboyish girl voice and uses more profanity than the sub but not to much.. Fits her personality. Christie was a good choice for Mako almost sounds like the subbed version.. The Elite Four sounded decent.. Nonon had the best voice.. Satsuki's voice gets better as time rolls on..at first glance she didn't sound that much authoritive but that changes when you hear more of her.. Her trying on Junketsu for the first time sounded really good Aikuro's voice was my favorite... Meek normal quite voice as a teacher but changes when he's not undercover and talking to Ryuko Mako's family was good The only voice I've yet to get comfortable with is Senketsu.. I figured he would have a deeper voice The overall dialogue is good.. It's not cheesy and it use more profanity and obscene language than the sub but it fits in the dub.. It's not top tier dubbing but its a lot better than I imagined. |

| the dubb quality is good. but kill la kill is one of those animes that doesnt work well with dubb due to strictly japanese names/setting. is it more annoying to read while watching or hearing english speakers pronounce japanese names in their english sentences? you decide. |
| do you mean like having honorifics at the end (i.e kun,san etc)? i ussually prefer dubs over subs because i like to focus on the tv screen and not be reading subs at the bottom to a certain extent its not like its unwatchable. About 10 percent of the anime on my completed, watching and on-hold list i watched dubbed. |

| I mean the names themselves. It makes it obvious that the dubbed language isn't the native language of the characters being portrayed. Obviously this isn't a problem where the setting/characters are not necessarily Japanese. The other thing about dubbs, I feel, is that it does an inferior job conveying cultural significances than the original voice + subbs combo. i.e., honorifics. You could just have the dubbs say them too but certain audiences may confuse it as part of the name, not to mention that it would compound into the first problem. I can already think of one such instance (a pretty hirlarious/cute moment) in KLK where a dub could have such trouble, towards the end of episode 22 but ill hold back on spoilers. (If you can point me towards a dubbed version ill gladly watch it and tell you how they did- i'm curious myself as to how they might overcome this) theres also lip sync but thats no biggie to me. But like you said, subbs take your eyes off of the action, and there is a lot of eye candy in KLK (not that, you damn otakus). Given that you're much less bothered by Japanese names in english sentences than I am, I'd say go for the dubbed if you find yourself enjoying the art style and slapstick comedy. |

The only way to have the best of both worlds is well, speak japanese fluidly and have neither subbs nor dubbs :p I cant disagree tho that the original voice actors were just a bit better than the english dubb. Not that the english voice actors wernt good, just not as good. |

| Watch the sub but only Cause the dub does not not have all the episodes out. I was going to say this dub was good until I realized the may have had to change the some voice actors. For all the purest I will tell you they have made changes in the words they use in the dub. But I feel it is to make the speech more natural. Some may have not been necessary. |

Original japanese seiyuu were chosen specifically for each actor, and they convey their personality with the tone etc, you can't just change that and pretend it's the same show and characters.. with dubs you are losing all that characterizes them, cultural references, jokes and so on, it's like going to a picture art exhibition and have all the colors changed or b/w; japanese language is extremely tied to their culture and everything the characters do, their tone, the chosen words, the honorifics, I don't know how to explain properly.. but putting dubs on these shows is just insane, it kills everything that they are. |

| The dub is by Aniplex, best known for their work on Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. So, coming from anyone that has seen that, they can tell you the dub is in good hands. I have too, so I can vouch. I never watched the sub of this, but that was considered good, too. However, I don't want to say the sub is superior, as most people say here; rather, that it's a draw. Aniplex is among the few dub companies that does the job and they picked excellent voices for each character. Also, the anime is extremely fast paced at times, so if you are not a speed reader, you do not have to worry about losing the quality of the acting because the dub is still just as good. Coming from someone that switches on and off between dub and sub, I can not really tell you which is best. But, given Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood had such a good dub that many consider it superior to the sub (I said "many" not everyone, sub fans), I would recommend you watch the dub first. I watched it and it did not fail to deliver quality acting as they have been known for in most of their work. |

Yup, really nailed that scene. I watched it dubbed rather than subbed due to owning it, and whilst I'm sure the JP voices are excellent, the dub is probably the best anime dub I have heard. And I've watched a LOT dubbed. The casting choices were refreshing to me since many unfamiliar, non-Funimation people got cast. Ryuko's VA - who has done little anime work - was absolutely perfect as a cute-aggressive tomboy. Then you had Satsuki (voiced Casca in Berserk) almost unrecognisable as an utterly convincing femdom queen. And Mako as a hyper-silly bundle of energy. All three sounded around the right age. And, ofc, NUDIST BEACH guy. The casting was legit almost perfect: even one of the few voices I knew (Patrick Seitz?) as Amagori / the student discipline guy was awesome. My friend's favourite dub voice was the 'band hat' flute battle "BITCH!" girl, so even the smaller roles impressed. |
| Just finished re-watching it in dub on those expensive blu-rays, and the dub is fantastic. It maintains that manic and over the top comedy spirit extremely well, as well as the more emotional scenes. For me personally, I'd say it even exceeds or enhances the experience by watching it in my native language - english. For example, the sunset apology scene in episode twenty two moved me in such powerful and cathartic way that I can't recall having that same experience in the Japanese version. The humility and fragility of the voice acting in that scene by Carrie Keranen is so intimate and perfect. So for those out there questioning which to watch, I'd say ya can't wrong with either version. Both are excellent. As always, it's great to have different options to watch, and different ways of experiencing it. For me, it's the dub, though. It gave me a more personal experience than when I had watched it the first time in Japanese. |
| I personally enjoyed the dub a lot more than the sub (I had watched it subbed as it was releasing and watched it again when the whole dub was out). For me it just felt slicker than the sub, plus the fights are so awesome that it's nice not to have to read at the same time. |

| This was one of the first anime I ever watched and the dub was a blast. It usually bothers me with english dubs adapting an anime with Japanese names and a Japanese setting, but for some reason this anime is the only exception for me. The dubbed voice actors portrayed their characters perfectly imo, with Satsuki and her Kamidere personality, as well as Ryuuko(my first waifu) and her Tomboyish personality. |
