That was kind fun, seeing Gion face some tough challengers on the field.

I think this episode highlighted ruby at a more intense pacing and showcase what Gion has learned so far. His speed and awareness seems to be decent so big guys shouldn't underestimate him. Entertaining game overall.

Awesome episode, They showcased the match really well, Could really feel the intensity.

Ooharano is pretty good eh? Interesting comment that was made on him, "He's good but not a good player". I suppose that refers to the fact that he didn't adjust his play to match Jinko's level which resulted in his some sloppy situations for the team as they couldn't deal with his skillful passes.
That drop kick goal was awesome though.

Keijo just wrecked through Jinko in the second half.
That Gion entrance was epic.

Looks like low tackles are easy to dodge or push away as shown when Gion tried them in this episode, Low tackles only become problem when you aren't able escape in which case it becomes easy to bring down the opposing player. Thanks to @Dreampanther for pointing this out back in the episode 2 discussion. Looks like they kept it realistic eh?
I cannot imagine what taking that knee to the face feels like though.

Nice to see that Gion had some influence even if he felt he couldn't do anything. It's still just the starting line, Looking forward to see how him and the team will grow from here.
Loved Gion's declaration at the end that they'd win next time. :D

This was SOOOOO GOOOD!!
Finally we got to see Gion playing and I loved the spirit he brought to the team when he got in the field

Sekizan's decision was also the best he could so, he is definitely the right captain on that team!

Can't wait to see what will happen next!

LOVVVEDDD IT

That opening song is my jam right now too.

Loved Oharano and Gion's moments a lot this episode! The ost was on fire too!
Really looking forward to Ebumi playing as well, I thought he was the obnoxioius type, and he kind of is but he's not as douchebag-y to make him unlikable and I like that.
Also Ishawamizu's friend, he's really grown on me over these two episodes, he's my favorite from the opposing team.
Looking forward to more!

I really like the heavily action packed rugby tackle scenes and finally Gion got to the field too! Really good episode, can't wait for more. And damn Ooharano is a great player, but well, not a great player...

I think people who don't like rugby are not appreciating this too much. A shame really it's entertaining stuff.

Man, this is the best sports anime i've seen since Daiya no Ace. Absolutly love that they keep this as real as possible with the tackels. The drop kick of Ooharano was sick and the entrance of Gion was amazing as well. Also loves the OST as usual. Next week looks we'll get to see the coach

Good; alike the manga, I am slowly starting to warm up to the anime.

They teased the arrival of the team's brand new coach after the ending, I'm hyped. It's gonna get really good next week.

Well that was a major step up from the previous episode, already liking the #10

Can't wait to see how the team will develop and get better and see some majorly awesome plays.

That OST though, it's really incredible, loving it.

This episode was way better than the first three, IMO. They showed a lot of things that I wouldn't have expected a sports anime to do this early. Typically, a sports anime slowly introduces more and more "mechanics" of a sport as the series goes on but in this episode we got, the dummy the no-look pass, the kick pass, cut-out pass, drop goal and the conversion charge down.

The last two were particularly surprising to me because they could have honestly been revealed way later in the series, possible as main driving points for matches (come from behind drop goal, stop other team from winning by charging down the conversion). The two preceding them, not many profession rugby players do these things as they're considered risky moves so I was surprised to see it done so early in the series, let alone by a first year high schooler.

I liked how they emphasised the fact that Rugby is not a one man sport and how even though that winger might be a God, he's still going to be benched for having a shit attitude. That's how it works in real life. Sick of players with shit attitudes in other sports anime getting all the playtime they want simply because of the nature of the sport.

Anyway, hopefully the series kicks into another gear once the coach makes an appearance. I really doubt Gion will continue to be a wing.

Can someone explain how Keijo won? I mean Miyuki missed the kick. Kinda clueless about that since I'm new to rugby as well.

Keijo won with al the try's and conversions they scored. For as we know, Jinko only scored with the drop kick. The team with the most points wins

Blond thug getting put in his place by Sekizan, you don't train you don't play :'(
Keijo dominates as expected, but Oohanaro stands out for Jinko.
Gion only played 5 min but did good :)

They scored more points, it's like american football, getting to the end goal is 5 points aka a "Try", then you get to kick the ball for 2 more points.
You can also kick the ball through the volley goal at any time for 3 points.

The OST used in this episode is better and feels like Log Horizon, I checked MAL staff and it was the same music composer.
Keijo really destroyed the team of Gion!
There's a lot of new 1st years on the rugby club of Kanagawa high so it's expected that they have the lower-hand.

The episode I liked it more than normal, he felt the competitive spirit and the plot twist, also benefited involvement in general. In terms of characterization, there was a leap forward for some characters, I hope that in future we can give more facets to their characters, would gain the souls, in terms of history and storytelling. As has happened with not having a Gion story centered today, it was a good choice in terms of participation of the cast. Drawings and animations were good, but the soundtrack did his job well.

Great episode.
Hope Gion can learn how to play more effectively against their enemies.
Iwashimizu is such a good player, he is on a completely different level from his team (most of the team).
Cya next game!

Surprised they haven't broken down the breakdown yet (sorry for the pun), and how to play around the ruck. They've done well keeping the rules/tactics coming at a gradual pace though.

In rugby when you score a try you get 5 points and a conversion kick after the try adds another 2 points if you score the kick. Miyuki hit the post so instead of 7 points he only got 5.

Keijo still won as they were already 40-3 up before the missed spot kick.

Ha ha - yes, both my brother and I played a little rugby in high school and there is probably nothing as scary as trying to tackle a big guy when he's charging straight at you. It's much safer to tackle him from behind or from the side!

Just to give you an idea: This is Victor Matfield https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victor_Matfield
a legendary rugby player considered "one of the best locks in the world" during his decade of playing international rugby. He and my brother were in the same class in school. The only difference is, my brother (like me) is about 1,75m tall (about 5' 9") while Victor ended up being more than 2 meters tall (about 6' 7") and weighing about 110 kg (240 lb). My brother still says that he would rather jump off a cliff than ever try to do that again. :D

Have to say, so far I'm loving All Out!! - great music, action and interesting characters.

PS Actually the captain, Takuya Sekizan, reminds me a bit of Victor Matfield, even though he plays Number 8 and not Lock (number 5). Both captains of their teams, both respected by the other players, both big guys and neither of them scared to get physical.

Good episode. The animations & small character development was nice. Especially from this blonde delinquent guy, who changed quite a bit. And i liked, how Gion tried to do stuff but didn't quite get it yet. He isn't too overpowered, which i like. It would be no fun, if he was so op.

Looking forward for more.
