I'm curious what you guys think about this show.
I'm actually quite fond of it, the animation is great and the music matches it right. The characters are unique and good although there are some cliches of course.
Wtih things being as, why do you think this show has such a low rating?
Do you think it deserves it or do you think it has it for an unfair reason?

Outside the fact that its about Rugby, everything in this is really average.
Watched it for a while but i got tired of it after watching the first half of it.

Name some average parts just for the list, please. I'm interested in everyone's opinion and want to know more than just the basic idea haha.

I honestly have no idea why is it rated so low. I personally like it more than 1st season of Haikyu, but then again, I seem to like odd shows of the season sometimes.

You are right. I kind of hate haikyuu myself, it's just waaaay toooo edgy haha. This show has irrealistic characters atleast, so it's a bit better

Idk tbh. Maybe its too characters driven (a plus for me) and not many serious matches happen?
Tbh I don't remember the last sports anime i watched that made me care about the characters this much. Everyone gets their time and not just the main dou. Hell even the guy that only showed up last ep gave me the feels lol

Undistinguished cast, average animation, and a familiar underdog story. As DatRandomDude has mentioned, the biggest identifier for the show is its chosen sport - which imo, it fails to portray particularly attractively. Raz also has a point with the lack of matches - combined with a laissez faire approach to the sport, it's not all that much about rugby.

The blushes of boys love wouldn't be an issue if the characters or matches had a greater appeal. But as a sports/tournament anime, All-Out is largely unexciting; neither is it a real drama: too episodic and middling in its storytelling; the characters themselves are rather one-note, with little to distinguish them from other shows aside from their unusual designs.

boring cast (beside the coach he is awesome) basically no character im interested in, average animation, underaverage boring standard plot and bad fan service which feels forced. the worst thing though is that it doesnt get me excited or hyped which is the thing a pure sport anime has to do.

overall the only good thing the anime has is the coach. he saved the anime and made me watch 3 more episodes before i dropped it. your average score after 500 watched anime is 8.25, so its no suprise you like it because you basically like everything.

You can compare it to "baby steps" Baby steps was a fun wath even the art is so so. Becuse they have a quite simple but good plot. It´s make good use of comedy, sport, drama/romance and matches. You see a progression in the first 25 eps. This is soon ending and what have happend? ALLOT of backgroundstories and some trainingmatches. That´s one of the reason.

the low rating is because, first is a sport, but this sport is not very known, it was baseball or soccer it would have been different, second because is directly launched in TV without the blurb, and third the quality draw/animation, is "normal"..... If you draw a cheerleaders, and super-powers it would have been very differente kekeke

I can see why a lot of people wouldn't enjoy this series but I really do, the last two episodes, 18-19, was the real payoff of the mid season slow episodes I think. I love this series but even I wish they actually played more matches.

I think it's actually really good. It's not like the usual team sports anime were they are striving to make it to the inter high, or rather they are trying to make it to the "inter high" but the show focuses more on how to build a team professionally with the help of a coach and right equipments.

It's kinda new and i like it. Dunno why it's scored so low tho......

Compare to other sports series such as Haikyuu!!, Ookiku Furikabutte, Diamond no Ace, etc etc etc, is pretty meh...

I’d say it’s on the same level as Days! 1st season, maybe a tad worse.

As you can see the series spends most of its episodes in training Junko and i think every time they have a game the pacing of the episode is really slow. The series has too many flaws that's why the rating is low. If there is a second season they must not waste it on fillers specially when the series is only 25 episodes. :/

-They should have focused on the main character and his development more
-'Strong opponents' and 'rivalry' are the things that make sports anime appealing and exciting but they couldn't depict them well- they basically failed to create the atmosphere
-They spent MANY episodes on the drama of unimportant/boring side characters that no one really cares about

Compared to Haikyuu and Kuroko, you don't really feel excited when you watch the matches in the series.

Low? I think its not so bad. Its really niche sport and yeah, it has a lot of cliche in it, but in the end, rating over 7 isnt low.

And, to be honest, I dont care about ratings - a lot of high ranked anime failed me miserably, a lot of "yeeeah, not bad not great" anime did wonders for me. In the end, 100 people = 100 different preferences. And Im usually aware around series adored by mainstream...

So, if you liked All-Out (I did!), good for you and who cares about average score rating? For some people it simply didnt "click"... they wanted more matches, Im glad it was this way because sport shows spamming matches tend to suck with characters. There is lack of main hero (thankfully) and those cliches...it IMO belongs to sport shows (in sane frequency).

My only complaint about All Out is that the cast is way too big. We hardly saw Sumiaki in the second half and he's my favourite. No one got a decent amount of screen time.

Duno, I loved it. Far better than the all praised Yuri on Ice. This actually felt like sport anime while Yuri on Ice was mostly fan service with repetitive sequences.

The only minus for me and what probably put most people off are character designs. They look quiet outdated not to mention that most of the characters have extremely feminine bodies.

And very big cast, not enough character focus on everyone.

I enjoyed this anime despite not knowing a thing about rugby and scored it an 8/10.

Maybe would've given it a 9 if only the characters didn't blush so damn much. ._. Also all the sexy(?) poses (especially coming from Zanba lol) were... odd? It made me laugh a lot for sure but it was too damn much and so out of place.

I come from New Zealand, home of the world famous best rugby team in the world, and let me tell you straight off... that is not male fan service. Have you seen how big even amateur rugby players can get? They can get huge and seriously ripped.

I kind of understand why the low rating. Most people don't like sportsmanship, camaraderie, character development and good coaching. Most people prefer everything to revolve around a main character, while leaving all the others in the shadows. And finally some people can't get over aesthetics (seemingly bad artwork).

To the first and the last ones I have nothing to say, because there's something wrong in their mindset and I can't change that. To second ones, I got to say that they understand nothing about team sports, rugby in particular. Rugby is very different from the most popular team sports. Like they already said the description, in rugby there is no quarterback (American football), play-maker (basketball) or ace striker (may association football rot). Everybody have their own role and everyone have their own opportunity to shine. The captain can be anyone from any position, from the tight-head prop to the fullback.

It makes sense that a show about rugby develops all or most of the cast, not just one or two players. It's useless to criticise that. It leads nowhere.

About men service. What where you guys really expecting? It's a rugby team. Rugby is not a coeducational sport (if those exist). There are men's teams and women's teams. No mixes. What about cheer-leading, you might ask. Well, that is mostly an American costume.

Lastly, I wanted to say that this show in my opinion deserves any score from 7 upward, according to individual tastes of course. Any less and something is not worth watching. You might as well avoid ranking and dropping it instead. Watching anime shows shouldn't feel like a chore, but entertain you.

This is just wrong. I love myself some team sports, sportsmanship, camaraderie, character development, good coaching, anything you can name for a sports anime, fact of the matter is All Out just isn't that good of a sports anime. And the man service, from what I understand, it's all the unnecessary blushing and girlish movement despite having a body builder body build. I don't really care if it's rugby, soccer, baseball, basketball, or whatever, I've watched my fair share of sports anime about sports I did not understand. In fact, baseball anime is now my favorite sports in anime form and it is not eligible or popular in my country, and I didn't even know about it before anime.

I really love sports animes and this one started off great but fell apart in the second half. Part of it is that the pace was too slow for a sports anime. There also wasn't a clear goal in mind. They weren't striving for any particular championship. (By the end they did give a name to a championship they wanted to try for but it was too late by then and it was more of a dream than a true goal. ) There was just the vague desire to get stronger.

I'm all for characterization but don't lose pace to do it. Yowamushi Pedal is a great example of how to keep pace while making absolutely loveable characters.
A hero will sacrifice the one he loves to save the world. A villain will sacrifice the world for the one he loves. I'll take the villain.

Well, I don't usually watch sports anime. I'm more into magick, swords, supernatural powers and stuff like that. I give it a shot because it's about rugby and there's never been an anime about rugby as far as I know. Sure I watched sports anime when I was kid, like Captain Tsubasa or whatever is called in Japanese and thinking about that show now I would rate it 4, maybe 5.

I picked this up and I like it a lot. The blushing was terrible, yes, as were the strange poses I've seen sometimes, but I decided to focus on the traits that I reported, that are far more important in my opinion and that I think portrays rugby for what it is for an idealist like myself.

I forgot what the rating was before, but it's pretty high now for what seemed to be a glorified introduction. You get snippets of random side characters that amount to nothing, while the main characters got practically no progression. Matches were few, and animation was just serviceable. I think the only sports anime I enjoyed less is that soccer anime a few seasons ago I don't even remember the name.
