For me, it was my step cousin that told me about naruto, so I check it out, and fell in love instantly with the anime. I started watching way more anime in 2017 though.
So, what made you guys watch anime??

I thought the childhood anime I watched were cartoons tbh. Like Naruto, Dragonball, Bleach, Cowboy bebop, Pokemon, Yugioh, Digimon, etc.

The anime that I actually knew was anime was probably Death Note. One of the first anime to have me by the edge of my seat. After that, I joined myanimelist and have since then expanded the amount of anime i've seen.

Instead of studying for my final high school exams I decided to watch One Piece, didn't really know it was an anime though, so after I caught up with that I decided to watch Bleach and started to learn more about anime.

Ummm, what made me watch anime huh?
Maybe a total lack of social life? Yup. That's definitely it.

Same as Sterps, I watched several anime as a kid assuming they were cartoons. My dad introduced me to Studio Ghibli movies (not knowing they were anime), and I came across the real stuff while trying to watch those. I guess my first anime that I knew was anime was probably (don't laugh) Fruits Basket.

I always thought the were cartoons meant for little kids until my sister kept begging me to try out at least one anime.

Tried Attack on Titan and got into the medium.

It was in december '14 so I was 15 and 16 while I watched that shit
I needed like the whole month to watch it lmao xd
Uhm just look at this website:
http://graph.anime.plus/FlorianYuzuriha/history,anime
I'm still trying in getting as much data as I can as I didn't added when I watched what Anime until November 2016 >_>

The first Anime I've ever completed was probably Heidi alonside a few Ghibli movies as well as the new Evangelion movies that aired in the German TV,
though one of my very first actual Anime would be either Death Note or Kuro no Keiyakusha

@FlorianYuzuriha Looking at your history, you've watched quite a lot considering how busy these weeks have been for you at school :D

Firs time I hear of Heidi. Not a big fan of Ghibli movies. Probably liked Spirited Away when I was a kid but now it just doesn't appeal to me after rewatching it.

I mean this one here
https://myanimelist.net/anime/2225/Alps_no_Shoujo_Heidi?q=heid
Well it aired on German TV when I was like idk 6/7 years old?
Back then it aired alongside western cartoons and it was actually pretty decent for a kids show, though I didn't knew it was Anime at that time ^^
Might as well rewatch it whenever I'll get my hands on a Heidi torrent ^^

Well there are a few good ones (Mononoke Hime as the best Ghibli one in my opinion) but overall Ghibli is overrated as fuck my Ghibli mean is like 5 (though I watched a bunch of shitty Ghibli shorts) https://gyazo.com/f49b9041523518e2fd73cc83ff7485eb
At least Ghibli movies are somewhat consistent.

Well about ~200 of them are shorts/specials/ova or ona or some music shit of that 280 entries I've got over the last 2 months, I mean I watch Anime every day no matter what I should be doing so it doesn't really matter, though I could've watched about 20 to 30 episodes more if I wouldn't had to 'do smth for school'

My cousin showed me a couple of One Piece episodes, and then I got kinda hooked so we watched close to the first 50 episodes almost in one go. Later I found out some of my friends were watching anime, and then they showed me shows and it went from there.

My love for animation didn't start with Anime, instead it started with a cousin who worked with a company that did old school cell animation here in the states. Well, at the time, it wasn't old school I guess. Anyway, at first I resisted anything to do with it, I was way too cool for kiddie stuff like that. Eventually though I started hearing what he was saying, how fun it was, the different kinds of styles that were used, etc, etc. So I started watching all types of animation, though mostly American styles. Couldn't get enough of it, eventually I heard about a animation style distinct to Japan through a friend. So I peeped it. With being somewhat of a closet animation freak already I came out of said closet and I was hooked. Haven't stopped watching, haven't stopped enjoying and haven't stopped proselytizing about it to everyone I can.
