As much of a Kino fan as I am, I'm not very excited about the key visual. I expected as much that it would be following the light novel designs, but also hoped that they would be able to translate Kuroboshi's sketchy and stylized art a bit differently (I guess I'm nitpicking... yeah I am)

On the other hand, the news that Yanagi Nagi will perform both OP and ED is good news to me.

EDIT. Well the official website visuals look a bit better for some reason. I'm hoping that all of this will look good in motion.

Seems a lot more colourful than the first season, which, honestly, I don't mind.
I guess the world will be actually beautiful this time. At least the environments.
(Not to say the old version wasn't but it was so in a different way.)

I was prepared for a change in style, and I honestly find this pleasing so far. I'll reserve proper judgement for when I see it in action, though.
As long as they can pull of the mood and thought-provokingness of the first season and the novels - at least a decent degree - then I'll be happy. For that we can only wait and see.

More bothered by the colors than the generic modern design update. Don't know or care about how it is in the source, but it lacks the dreariness of the 2003 series that defined the title for me.

Not sequel? Oh well I was planning to watch the original before it aires. But still I will stick with the original. I think this remake will try to adapt the whole LN material (Just like hxh).

EDIT: I bet it might have a chance to be 2-cour show.

I'm quite disapointed on pretty much everyhting to be honest.
The classic anime wasn't the best on terms of art, so I wasn't expecting they'd keep that, but... I don't know, Kino is kind of... lollish now. The colours are bothering me a lot as well. Those light sepia tones were one of the best things on the anime and now it's colorful... A thing that I personaly dislike and actually have problems with it (my eyes literaly get tired of bright colours, I have the urge to turn my face away). The art and PV in general reminds me of the on-going anime Princess Principal, that is a good anime but y'know, it isn't like Kino no Tabi, so it's a bit sad to see a somewhat generic art and animation.
It doesn't look like it will be dark and philosophic as the first anime, the trailer actually makes it look serene and almost happy.
Kino no Tabi is one of my favorite animes, so of course I'm still hyped and happy for a new anime, but I was expecting something different from what we got so far.
At least the voice acting is quite good, so my worries about the new voice actors is gone, at least for Kino.

The character designes look very generic and boring, the colores way to bright. If they also remove the dark philosophical undertone there will be nothing left then a typical seasonal. But we will see ...

Honestly I don't have much of an issue with the new artstyle, and because of the fact that the original and this new one in terms of gaps is like 14 years by comparison as far as I know, and its been more modernized and more brighter, I can get pass that.

The only thing I really cared about mostly was how the looks were in motion, and it actually goes well. It's not the best one, sure. However, it looks pretty nice for what its worth.

You guys. If the place in episode 1 is in the new show, people will call it a knockoff of Kiznaiver and/or Black Mirror.

Prepare your fists.

It's like that when a new key visual for the character is released especially if it's been a while since it's last picture. Don't worry though there's a chance they revert it back but I highly doubt they will considering they still haven't changed that shitty Gilgamesh pic

not at all. That classic moe way of eating food is very much at odds with the tone & style that defined the original adaptation. seeing kino, a very distinct and fascinating and observant character, eating cake like any other female anime character these days, tells me all i need to know about this new adaptation: that it's going to be run-of-the-mill, conformist, uninspired, etc.

jeez guys , the anime isn't even here yet , let us see what they have got and then we can decide if it will be as good as the old one or not
and even if the character designs are trash , the source material is really good it will make up for it .

That doesn't really tell much for me at the very least. Besides, it's a scene out of the possible many scenes when it comes to this... which isn't out yet, so.

So, they went from having one of the most unique art styles, to making the show look like just about any generic newer anime (worse, an A-1 Pictures anime), slathered with tons of unnecessary visual effects and filters. Why am I not surprised?

Let's ignore the fact that what he's saying might be lowkey true and call him embarrassing, lol.
I don't think it will be bad simply based on how she eats the cake, but I have to say that it made me facepalm, eating the cake like a half-retarded curious kid doesn't complement Kino's maturity and apathetic nature at all. Speaking of art style, he probably made the most relevant observation in this thread.

So it's already been confirmed elsewhere that this series is a reboot and not a sequel. The original series had a distinct style to it, but this reboot looks like any generic anime being released these days. I'm still going to watch this series but I'm approaching it with my skepticism hat on, as you need more than a new art style to bring it on par with the original. Otherwise there's no point in this reboot, unless it gets a second season down the track with new content.
Bondrewd did nothing wrong.

Loved kino no tabi art and everything, but the new show seems to use bad cgi to save a pretty penny so i will most likely not like the show. Its pretty sad when anime from over 10 years ago has better quality.

Totally honest, after rewatching episodes from the 2003 version, it's going to be really weird readjusting to the new art, animation, and staff. I understand that it's the direction the novels have taken in the past few years too, but the subtle and minimalist nature of the 2003 version has become the style and atmosphere I've associated with Kino's Journey for years. But, it's already a miracle that Kino got a revival after 14 years, so I'm still happy that this is happening.

Totally hype for tomorrow~
